1.
Apparently there's been some major outages in the that London area, so I was told yesterday. BT installing Superfast BB everywhere they can, though they're only supposed to have folk down for a max of 4 hrs at a time, so maybe you were just unlucky.
This is true, everywhere you turn in Camden at the moment there is a BT man down a hole...
2. Was up and running when I walked past yesterday....
3.
Yup, but it will cost a little more. On the door tickets don't have a handling fee, though, while advance ones make you pay over £2 (IIRC) for the privilege of printing your own. http://www.londonbas...it/buy-tickets/
Thanks for that, hopefully catch you all Sunday
4. Anyone know if you can pay on the door for this? might drop in Sunday.
5. *On Hold* Several interesting trades and offers on this so I'm going to put it on hold whilst I mull them over... I will bump it back to the top if nothing works out (mods please leave thead open for the time being)
6.
If you post a bunch of ads in the marketplace you'd no doubt get a lot of cool offers!
Yes I have already for the couple of basses I've got up... was thinking of listing the rest of my gear just to see what options I'd have.
7. Full welly for me... do the rest on the amp.
8. This from the marketplace... Really digging the looks.
9. Giving some thought to putting all my basses up for trade... I've no real attachment to any of my basses and I guess they are all permenantly open to trade offers. I do like to try new stuff... Anyone else a prolific gear swapper?

That looks damn cool...
11. I have a pair of the 212s and they sound great... considering changing to a pair of vanderkley 112s but only from a portability point of view.
12.
http://www.musicians...speaker-cabinet not sure if this helps
Never seen one of those before...
13.
TBH, for me it's all about the songs and the performance. I couldn't really care how good or not the actual baselines are so long as the song sounds great. I'm happy to play root notes on 8ths if that's what's needed. And I doubt whether anyone in the audience who really matters (and for me that's someone who's going to buy a single or T-shirt afterwards or come and see the band next time we play) gives a flying f*** what I'm actually playing.
Nothing wrong with root and octave.... some of the best grooves are simple stuff. I'm trying to make the point that you should be free to choose what you play, be that simple or complex... at least you stand or fall by your own playing then, not being judged for playing someone elses ideas.
14.
Looking at this from the other side - as a member of an existing band that has been through 3 different drummers and guitarists in the last 12 months, there is a wish to have some continuity of songs from one line-up to the next, and if you have a fan-base there are certain songs from the band's back catalogue (especially) if you have "product" out that they expect to hear played.
Yeah you guys are an established band with a fan base that will come out to see you play, so I can understand you'd want some continunity, I was more talking about bands just starting out. There seems to be a tendency for people to get very precious about what they want others in the band to play... Personally I'd never stand there on a stage and be judged as a bassist playing something I hadn't written, after all isn't that what music is all about? creating something yourself...
Funnily enough I depped for an originals band. They gave me a load of tunes to learn, which I did but quite a few of the tunes I couldn't play exactly as their previous bass player. They preferred what I played. Which was humbling. Their old bass player even said he'd liked what I'd done to them, which felt a bit weird. I created a bass line for a new tune and then when they found a permanent player, he learned it note for note and they recorded it. Again quite humbling. I suppose what I'm saying is that originals bands setlists evolve and if they're creative enough songs get replaced fairly regularly. So it's worth learning a few because you'll be writing new stuff soon and the old stuff will get played less.
In this situation the basslines for the incoming player after you were obviously good though... It would be different if you joined this band and the previous basslines were crap, you could write much better ones, but you had to play the old lines anyway... People who had never seen the band would turn up to a gig and think "that guys basslines are sh*t" and you would have no control over it... they aren't even your lines. Not much good if there happens to be a guy in the audience looking for a bassist for his awesome new start originals band.
15.
PLEASE SEND YOUR CONTACT NUMBER REGARDING THE GUITAR. REGARD
PM SENT!
16. Bump for something a bit different...
17. I quite like the look of their 112s but couldn't find a UK stockist...
18. As this is a finishing thread I'll make my usual 'what finish' suggestion....
19. To follow on from a couple of people mentioning bands have fallen apart after they have left, this has also been my experience. I'd imagine it's different with covers bands, but with originals bands I always think once you lose a member you should basically start a fresh with material. Otherwise you end up with the situation of bringing someone in with zero creative influence over what they play on your back catalogue. No-one I know who is looking to play originals would want to play a load of basslines written by someone else. I've only every worked with projects where I have absolute control over what I'm playing, if they don't like what I'm doing they can find someone who plays what they do like and I'll move on Guess it's different if your a huge global success, then you can just tempt people with large sums of money to stand there and play other peoples basslines...
20. It's difficult isn't it, you might get rid of the Warwick then decide years down the line that it was the perfect bass for you after all. I guess ideally we'd all buy different types of bass, keep them all until we found what works best for us. Space and cost prevents most of us from doing this. The thing I have found is that by buying second hand I can move stuff on at cost or a minimal loss and try something new better than trying something out in a shop with strings of unknown age / quality for two minutes through a rig you've never used before. Another thing is our 'perfect tone' changes over time. The tone I am after now is very different to the tone I liked ten years ago...
21.
Not the P, but he seems reasonably happy with it anyway. .
This guy is an imposter... I haven't watched the video but thats definitely more of a guitar solo face than a bass face...
22.
nice WW! dots on the fretboard? is it a custom shop bass then?
I don't think so, I believe it's a standard model in a unusual colour, not a custom colour just one you don't see very often. Your right about about the dots, I hadn't thought about that before. The new ones on the Thomann website appear to be without dots... mind you they are also nearly £2.5K The serial number checker on the Warwick website says this was made on 29/10/2008, maybe the older models had dots? Also the bass has a Swamp Ash body, Ovangkol neck and Wenge fretboard. *Original post edited to include sale option*
23. Made in Korea Fretless Tune WR5, Mahogany body with flame maple top and a lined Rosewood neck. This bass has a small chamber in the body and a Piezo pickup under the bridge giving a seriously loud output! louder than any other bass I've played. Active 3 band EQ gives a good range of tones. I picked this up last year from the gallery and it's only done a couple of rehearsals. It's as new condition with no dings and can include an MTD gigbag in reasonable condition if you want it. The bass came with nylon strings which were a little elastic bandy for my tastes but I'll include them along with the laBella flats its currently strung with. The bass is in London if anyone wants to try it out. First Four pics are from the gallery website (this actual bass) and the last one is a crappy phone pic of it in my living room that doesn't really do it justice....
