1. *Sold* German made Corvette $$ 5 string in turquoise blue oil finish Only picked this up on here a few months back, it's a lovely bass I'm just finding the string spacing a little tight, shame really as it sounds lovely. Wonderful basses these, it has that unmistakable Warwick growl... I've replaced the tuners with identical new Warwick ones, as the originals were a bit worn and the little rubber seal thingies had cracked, you can have the originals if you wish (although why anyone would want an old set of broken tuners is beyond me...) It's been recently restrung with d'addario prosteels. No real dents or dings to speak of and comes with a kingsman hard foam case and the original Warwick user kit. Ideally looking for trades on this - Bass owes me £650 but looking to trade up and add cash, ideally for a six/five string but open to any ideas really, what have you got? [s]Trade would have to happen in person in London[/s] Would rather trade in London but I can travel for the right bass if needs must. Your welcome to try it out with a free no obligation cup of tea at my place in Camden. Apologies for my dodgy photos.
 2. For £100 that is astonishing...
 3. Very interested in the X2.. I've been running my ditto in a dedicated effects loop so I can kill it with one click and reset it whilst playing over the top. This will do that in one box not convinced of the merits of reversing a loop though...
 4.
I've got two that aren't being used - I'll get them listed tomorrow!
I bought this one http://basschat.co.u...02#entry2370502, had rehearsal the next day, time was of the essence! They won't be hanging around for long
 5.
How about 'The Fondue Funk Fraternity'?
No-one likes funk in the fondue....
 6. I saw a bright yellow SR300 in the window of somewhere or other recently... looked the business..
 7. The band name generator has given me 'Fierce Shoe' and 'Horny Nudist'... Given that I am asked for my input in band names roughly once a decade thats me sorted for a while.
 8.
The only exception being 'at the gates' type Gothenburg style metal.
From the ages of 13 to 16 I only listened to At the Gates... In my mind at the time everything else was inferior so why bother?
 9. I mentioned this on another thread the other day... I am by no means an expert so my methods may not be best practice, however I've found reading a lot easier since I started reading the intervals instead of the notes. If a tune is in G, I use the shape for G major and just read the intervals from one note to the next, ie if the second note is on the next line up from the G I just read it as Two scale intervals above the G... I don't think, oh thats a B, I just read the interval then move on to the next note. Means when I get to an F I don't have to remember to sharpen it as the scale shape is already all the correct notes in the key. Works for me, but I'm sure others will know better ways
 10.
Well... this has just come up for sale. http://basschat.co.u...02#entry2370502
Guess I should have read this before posting.... thats my problem, always been a premature poster...
 11.
Polytune Mini serves me well.
Take that back.... mine broke this weekend mid rehearsal, footswitch started misbehaving. Funnily enough I've had this happen twice on other TC pedals. Time to order a TU3, anyone got one going spare?
 12. Is there a thread for dings and how they happened?... would be painful reading...
 13.
I keep mine in hard cases now - used to be on stands next to my amp until this happened;
ouch... how did that happen?
 14.
Your conundrum reminds me of this cartoon.
Very true that....
 15. It does look very good, slightly different to the Wal preamp but the same sort of concept.
 16.
it definately will if you only need A=440Hz.
Whooosshhh... straight over my head...
 17. Polytune Mini serves me well.
 18.
The nice thing is, Mrs Bigjas likes the look of them so encourages me to have them on display :-)
Mrs C likes me to keep them on display for the same reason. I recently put a couple away in cases and was told to put them back out again... I am also regularly reminded by her that none of my basses are as nice looking as the 63 AV faded sonic blue P bass she saw in the window of wunjo's once, and that I should add it to my collection.
 19.
Just noticed your gear list, sorry for going right off topic here , a Wal 6 string WOW !
Spent most of my bass playing life wishing I had a Wal, ever since I first tried one at 17.... Spent the last year or so scouring the second hand market, tried a few out, then finally decided to order a new one a couple of months back... Only 15 months to go!
 20.
Probably best to know that the key has a C # and F# though. If you were just jamming in that key you'd want to know, or I'd want to, but I'm probably opening a huge tin of worms here
No your right, it's important to know what notes are in each key and why. I'd just imagine that reading is easier on a stringed instrument than it is on a piano as the shapes are always the same.
 21. Good stuff
 22. The beauty of playing a stringed instrument as opposed to say a trumpet (never having played the trumpet this may be a poor example) is that you only have to learn the scale shape once... it is the same for all scales just starting on the relevent note. To play in D you would just use the scale shape for D, you wouldnt have to worry about remembering to play F# and C# because the shape would naturally be taking you to the correct notes.
 23.
I have to say that mine is nicer than that and definitely in much better condition. If someone offered me £4000 for it I'd bite their arm off. That's a ridiculous price, and anyone who wants a 5-string Mk.II can definitely and easily do better than that. All of which said, if he can find a buyer at that price then good luck to him. A fool and his money ...
Yours is a beautiful example, definitely nicer than this one.
 24.
Each to their own If it works for you then it works!
Thats kinda what I figured... I find it much easier to relate the intervals to my hand positioning, knowing the scale shapes. Still if there is a better way I'm always looking to learn!
 25. That would be on the top line as it's an octave above the previous A, although it doesnt tell you whether that A is played on the 17th of the E string, the 12th of the A string, the 7th of the D string or the second of the G string. It's obviously the same note, where you play it is down to personal preference and where the previous notes are. When I'm reading, I actually don't read the notes and think thats an A, thats a C# etc... I read the intervals between them and relate that back to the key signature, ie if I see an A then a note on the next line up I'll play the interval I see. I've no idea if thats right, I've never been taught properly but its served me well
