Talking of which, where did you get bungee cords or whatever you use to hold the gear to the truck? I bought some from Halfords & they turned out to be way too short. G.
I got some off amazon... I think they were intended for tying canoes to the roof of your car or something? I'll find out which ones they were.

I've got a sack barrow for carting my gear about... it's great, means I can take my 212 cab, amp, pedalboard and bass on the bus

What do you make of Youtube covers and the sort ?
...as do the players with pretty faces and low-cut tops.
This must be where I'm going wrong.. I'll have a route through MrsC's wardrobe for something more revealing for my next video. -
Doesn't sound like your overly enamoured with the P bass so I'd suggest that can go... maybe the Lakland too? would give you the biggest chunk of cash? I recently sold an L2000 Tribby.... not really sure why.... It was an excellent instrument that would have suited pretty much any band I have played in. I reckon your tribby could do everything you need and keep the others for sentimental reasons. I'm not the best person to be giving advice about getting rid of basses though... my collection is expanding exponentially

I have a Corvette $$... It's a very Warwick sounding instrument, not really like a Stingray to my ears. They are both punchy and cutting but I'd say the $$ has a more natural growly and aggressive tone with the Stingray being more modern, scooped and smooth, still punchy but quite HiFi sounding... Its subjective of course, but to me the Warwick sounds like it's made of quality wood whilst the Stingray sounds like it has quality electronics.... I like both instruments very much but think they cover different tone basses entirly really.
And a with a bit demonstrating one's personal hygiene regime and general affableness
Your right about the personal hygiene bit.... shared some very small rehearsal spaces with a number of 'fragrant' drummers recently... -
Try these guys, http://www.brightonion.co.uk/ They do loads of stuff like that.

Looks cool. I'm having Tom at COG build me something similar to this but inculding a compressor and the guts from my thumpinator.

I guess a few videos demonstrating different styles wouldn't hurt if your looking for a self promo video with a view to winning work... I recorded a few solo looper pieces and stuck them up on youtube a while back. They are pretty much useless for anyone wanting to know how I would sound in a band context, but they do at least show I'm not completely clueless. I've got a few gigs off the back of them as well, including my current band. To be honest I wouldn't worry about doing anything creative if your using youtube as a shopwindow, 99% of people looking for bass players don't want you to have any writing input whatsoever... I guess a video of you playing exactly what your told would be the biggest selling point! -
Wow... they look fantastic.

Can't really justify buying one of these but they look great... Not sure if I prefer the Blue or the Green.
-
I reckon it would be pretty good. All the Behringer stuff I've had in the past has sounded great, looked great and been built like a tank. Certainly a damn site better than some stuff twice the price.

I've got one of those mini hercules ones too, does look a bit odd with a jazz bass on it, but seems to hold everything secure enough, plus it fits in my gig bag.

That moment you realise there's no point in trying different basses...
CamdenRob replied to Clarky72's topic in Bass Guitars
I know what I like... seems silly to never try anything else though. You might miss out on something that would work perfectly for you. -
IME the Wal sound is mainly from the pickups. I've played passive Wals that still sound like Wals.
That's interesting, I've never had the chance to play a passive one.
-
Just be polite and decline, you'll never get started in music if your worrying about upsetting people. I've been to loads of auditions recently, turned some bands down, others have turned me down. I don't get upset or annoyed... just move on to the next one
-
I've always thought of active basses as being more modern, scooped and clean sounding than passive ones, although I've come to change my mind a bit recently as to how much effect the preamp has on the over all sound of a bass. I've recently aquired a corvette and when played through the preamp it sounds woody, punchy, growly and well... like a Warwick. When you switch it to passive it sounds woody, punchy, growly and also like a Warwick... ie the fundamental tone of the instrument isn't from the preamp. Having said that it's not the same for all basses and my love of the wal sound is definitely from that preamp... Not to say that I exclusivly prefer actives though, my jazz works very well in an acoustic project I've just joined.

Waiting on my Compressor/Preamp/DI at the moment, Shouldn't be long

SOLD - Warwick Corvette Double Buck $$ 5 string
CamdenRob replied to Taria's topic in Basses For Sale
I always do that with my basses... the grass is always greener and all that.... Biggest compliment I can pay these basses is that the bass tutor from my old collage (many moons ago...) who was the single greatest player I have personally ever seen, now seems to be playing one live... and he used to have a Wal that started my own obsession with that particular brand... If it's good enough for him it's more than good enough for me. Anyway I digress... Good luck with the sale. -

Nice basses these, picked one up myself a month or so back. Very nice woody growl, very lively... string spacing is quite tight if you like that sort of thing. maybe a little too tight for me but that's just personal preference. Considering these retail at a little under £3K now this is pretty good value. -
When and why did you stop pursuing a career in music?
CamdenRob replied to bassist_lewis's topic in General Discussion
I never really seriously pursued a career in music. I have come to the realization recently though that I am too fat and bald for being a popular music star to be a viable option anymore.... -
Too many of us pay far too much attention to what others think and say...
We may only be in January but this is the most sensible advice BC will produce this year....
-
I struggle with this as well... Doesn't feel comfortable at all to me playing sitting down, my wrist seems to be at too steep an angle over the top of the bass.

Played a wal for the first time today ;)
