1. Not Wal... 😐
2.
That's correct; well done.
Third time lucky 😊
3. I haven't bought anything yet this year... 😕 Got a fretless Wal sixer due in the summer though to make up for it
4.
But are you happy with the choice on Spotify? For me there's too many important artists and songs missing for it to be a replacement for my CD and record collection.
Yes that's a valid point. My tastes are far from eclectic so most of the stuff I'd listen to on a daily basis is readily available. I can understand the limitations of Spotify etc for folks with a broader musical palate*. I really do hate having CDs, DVDs etc around though, I can't bare clutter... which probably says more about my mental state than it does about music delivery formats 😕 *Ive attempted to spell this three times and I'm still not convinced 😕
5. I never buy CDs etc I dont even use iTunes anymore and just stream everything from Spotify or check stuff out on soundcloud / YouTube. I don't like CDs / DVDs etc I find they just clutter up the place. I'd far rather access media in a streamable format which means I don't have to physically store something.
6. Whenever I play someone elses bass the action is invariably so low that I get more clank and buzz than actual note... ... Therefore I guess I must have a pretty high action on mine
7. I've never really been a fan of Trace but if the Elf is capable of gig volume i'll be picking one up... My rig is only ever a monitor anyway and if this little amp can get me loud enough to hear myself whilst still sounding like a bass I'm in
8.
Is there going to be a new noodle thread each month? It might be useful to remind us to do new ones regularly. I find months go by with nothing done unless I get the occasional prod...
I guess it'll just be this thread... I reckon one or two a month is about the right frequency. A barrage of daily submissions from the same person could grow tedious... especially if it was me 😐
9. I still chop and change... still haven't found anything I'm 100% with.
10. I wouldn't do it myself and I can understand why Fender wouldn't be overly happy about it but meh... life is short, do what you want.
11.
And it feels good to be back at the noodle bar.
I'm glad it's survived... I'll keep trying to put something new up every month or so I think, that seems about the right frequency. Looking forward to seeing what others are working on Because the noodles are so short it's super easy to listen and comment and I think that's a winning formula
12.
Ok well here is my rather simple noodle. Recorded very quickly and not played the best I could. This is actually A longer version of a noodle I put up last year. Actually I made this up a few years ago for a girl I was seeing at the time. http://youtu.be/5JgJi-O-TiA
About time... The new incarnation of the noodle bar didn't feel quite right without a contribution from you... A nice little tune about a girl... a lament perhaps? As a passing point (and I'm no teacher so feel free to ignore me) have you tried anchoring your thumb on the pickup when playing the lower strings? Might enable you to get your fingers a bit straighter and play more freely
13. All of my basses have ebony fretboards... not out of choice on my part, they just all came that way 😕
14. Sounds like it might actually have something wrong with it rather than just having inherent jazz bass characteristics... Also I know it's difficult with subjective descriptions of a bass sound but being too bright and lacking bottom end are two different things really. It sounds to me like you're suffering from the latter. Anywhere near London? you'd be welcome to bring it round and I could give you a second opinion
15.
I hear "Hey there Georgie girl" in the first line of CamdenRob's ditty.
Ha yes I said that to Mrs C before I uploaded it... must have heard it in a shop or something this morning.
16. With today being a nice summers day and finding myself a couple of beers to the good, I've written a little tune to celebrate the reopening of the noodle bar In keeping with the spirit of things I didn't bother ironing out the mistakes... which with hindsight perhaps I should have done As a side note... I appear to have got considerably fatter since my last youtube dalliance... Anyway I hope the noodle bar flourishes under its new guise I think it's a great forum for airing whatever you feel like. Lets see / hear what you're all working on at the moment
17.
Here is mine its a little bit of a groove from a work in progress...
Great stuff... gotta love the groove you've got going on there and the accompanying dance... a few bass faces would have taken it too the next level aesthetically... nothing wrong with your playing though, enjoyed that very much
18.
April Noodle, Cort Active Fiver ...
A touch of the Hendrix about this dad... if you played that an octave up on an overdriven strat, you'd have women with flowers in their hair throwing various bit of clothing at you...
19. The noodle bar lives! Pass me some chopsticks...

Jazz

Following a recent P pic I might as well indulge myself further by posting the J as well... Peterbuilt Lined Fretless Jazz in opal yellow with a cream guard and DiMarzio DP123s. Essentially a custom colour allparts build but i've grown rather fond of it soon to be fretted when my new Wal arrives... possibly with block inlays as well. Went for a cheeky matching headstock too...

Bass
A final thought - bass is better than sex. And, if it's not, you're doing it wrong.
Dunno about that... I'm consideribly better at playing bass than I am at sex though... 😐
22. Moollon Classic P in faded sonic blue with a mint guard... currently filling the P bass hole in my life with aplomb. Some lovely details, I'm particularly fond of the clay dots. 23. Any decent bass related podcasts worth subscribing to? I need something for work to block out the relentless "banter" between all the cool people... I've never really been that interested in listening to music and I get bored of that after a while so thought I'd try podcasts instead. More interested in ones about gear rather than instructional or interview type things. Anything out there worth checking out?
24. You mean to tell me I've been asking "how much does it weigh" relentlessly in every topic in the for sale forum for nothing?
25. CamdenRob

Bass

Its like a big guitar... generally played by the least cool person out of a group of mates that decide to form a band.
