1.
Just for the record, I am absolutely loving my new NX2 212T. Reasonably portable and light. Beautifully balanced sound which responds very well to EQ. Very pleased I went for it.
Very pleased with mine too.
 2. Excellent selection of bourbon at The Lexington... Hopefully we'll be there for this one.
 3. Yeah I understand where they are coming from, I just don't agree... a mild irritant really though, I don't lose sleep over it.
 4.
Though if someone's got something that they want to sell, they could put it in the "For Sale" section.
True.. although if someone is looking for a 'bass under £200' it might be nice to be able to reference your listing in the for sale section so that other people also looking for a 'bass under £200' can see it.
 5. Looks lovely this... Grimsby is a bit of a expedition from London though!
 6.
Answers are by pm nowadays this reduces the audience for the cheeky adverts?
Indeed... It also reduces the audience for genuine adverts.
 7.
...Am guessing this is because people who are n't registered to sell on here are unable to answer?
No sadly even if you have registered you still can't answer....
 8. Lovely, if it wasn't silly season I'd be all over this... Does it come with a case? Where are you based? Rob
 9. I was kinda with you until the bit about bass guitars having a soul...
 10. Never underestimate the stupidity of your average member of the public... I've lent people my amp in the past only to watch them 'set it up' hand goes straight to the bass parametric.... we'll just put that on 10.... erm... no we won't be doing that and you will not be using any of my gear.
 11. Just basschat and porn for me...
 12.
All parts UK do them a bit expensive at £17 inc postage, but you get them within a day or so. I've bought 2 sets of them over the past 6 months and they are very good. On one BBOT I had to widen the holes for the saddle screws but on my most recent, if fitted perfectly. http://www.allparts....vintage-style-4
If I'd have seen that earlier I'd have ordered them from there. Looks like the same ones I've ordered.
 13.
Yes, but you clearly haven't. How did Rob get on at the Gallery on Saturday?
Turns out Martin isn't around on Saturdays... I ordered up that set of saddles from the US site, apparently they have been dispatched, so I shall see how that works out. I assume I can turn them around on the screw? the set in the pic has all the saddles sticking out to the left of the annotation screw, looking at my bass I need two on the left and two on the right... I'm sure it'll work out OK.
 14.
Guitarpartsresource.com http://www.guitarpar...ass_saddles.htm They are in US but I have ordered from there. My package arrived inside a week and luckily I paid no VAT or duty but that is a luck of the draw kind of thing.
Thanks they look perfect... I'll see if I can get any in the UK, if not I'll go for those.
 15. Is it possible that I could get hold of just a new set of vintage saddles to use with my existing bridge? does anywhere sell these you guys know of?
 16.
You're right. According to my 'The Fender Bass - An Illustrated History', in 83 they changed the bridge on the Jazz to a 3 screw version. The P bass stayed as a 5 screw. If moving the neck a smidgeon didn't work, then best to take it to a tech.
Hmmm so it would be unlikely that a replacement bridge would be available with only three screws... I'm rather not be drilling any more in the bass ...also that book sounds like my xmas present sorted, now to leave not so subtle hints for Mrs C
 17.
@ CAmden Rob - One of the reasons I tried stopped using busses when lugging my gear is the Pram Wars that can errupt in the Pram/wheelchair bay. One was so nasty the driver stopped the bus and the police were called. That one didn't involve me I hasten to add, but even witnessing that is a stress i just don't want in my life
Yeah they can be pretty violent those... The trouble with buses is that you have to share them with members of the general public .... never a pleasant experience. Maybe I'll stick to the taxi approach...
 18. We sold the car when we moved to London so I'm in a similar boat to you. I have a super compact eden 112 and GK MB200 rig that I take to practices when there isn't an amp provided. I can take this along with my bass on tube / bus or whatever. I also just got a new big rig which I've only taken out once so far, and that was out of my house and onto the pavement then straight into a taxi. I'm actually buying a sack barrow this weekend to make wheeling my GB 212 cab around much easier, not that it's heavy just big... then I may attempt it on the bus! although not at rush hour... buses are much easier to negotiate with gear than the tube as there is no steps and there is a space for wheelchairs/buggies etc that you can put your cab in. Finally I have a DI (soon to be upgraded) on my pedalboard so for gigs with PA support I can just turn up with my bass and a box of tricks.
 19.
Ideally the string path should be completely straight from the machine head post to where it anchors at the bridge.
Yeah to be honest even if I can get the string sitting in the right place to align with the neck properly, I'm not too sure about having the string at a funny angle over the saddle...
Rob; I don't when you're about in the Camden area, but through work I get down there every so often. I've re-fitted bridges. If you'd like me to take a look, let me know. It could be good to meet up. Oh, and I so happen to have a Badass III hanging about... If you'd like that option too. Cheers Rich
That's very kind of you... I'm always in Camden I live here... I'm going to take it down to the gallery tomorrow and ask them what they think. Do you think your badass III will be a straight swap in for the original fender one? If a new bridge is the answer I'll happily buy it from you. I'll see what they say tomorrow. Thanks.
 20.
I've never owned an 80's fender, maybe the standard bridge was a three holer. My 60's, 70's and 90's all have the five screw type. Hope you get it sorted.
Think the 80's was Fender's penny pinching era... Those extra couple of screws probably represented a cost saving...
 21.
The standard Fender bridges have five screws Rob. I suspected from your original post, that the neck tweak would probably not do the trick and that it was more likely poor bridge alignment. This is a really common fault with Fenders. You would think after churning out millions of instruments they could get it right .
Five screws... pretty sure mine only had Three... I'll look again tonight. Thinking I might take it down to the gallery this weekend and see what they suggest. It is a bit frustrating, looks like Fender have spent a lot of time and effort elsewhere on the bass and just made a schoolboy error in the final assembly.
 22. Didn't quite work out... Was good for the experience taking the neck off, but the problem is still there. I'm a bit worried that it might be the actual bridge that is cut in too far over (although the other strings are fine). I'm guessing that a bridge where I can adjust where the string sits on the saddle (like those old school fender ones) will allow me to get the correct angle on it. Current bridge appears to have three large screws holding it in place. I'm assuming this is fairly standard?
 23. I'd play around the usual major for the I the lydian for the IV and a myxolidian for the V ... usual stuff sounds OK if you hover around root, third and fifth, I just tend to use the other notes as passing notes. Different strokes for different folks...
 24.
Now sold. Thanks for all the interest guys.
Well that's saved me £500...
