1.
I've had that issue before and it's usually due to the neck not aligning 100% correctly in the neck pocket. What I did was loosen the neck, pull it into the correct position (it will only be a mm out), and retighten the screws. This usually fixes the problem permanently.
That sounds like good advice to me. I'll give it a go tonight Thanks for that.
2.
What about one of the vintage Fender bridges, that has the saddle with a few grooves in.
That's what I was thinking off, the ones with the grooves all along the saddle? not sure if its just a case of swapping one straight in though?
3. Bit of advice needed please. My 83 Jazz sounds great, looks great and plays great but… I have a bit of an issue. As a result of Fenders legendary iffy QC the G string is too close to the edge of the fretboard and I occasionally pull the string off the fretboard when playing further up the neck (I know I shouldn’t be playing there anyway but indulge me…) I can see it is visibly too far over in that it doesn’t quite align with the center of the pole pieces for the pickups. I think a few millimeters further over at the bridge and all will be well… So my question is do I replace the bridge with something I can adjust to get the string at the right angle? Or is this a bigger problem than I think? Any suggestions for a replacement bridge that won’t mean I have to cut any holes in my bass and will allow me to replace the original one, should any future owners wish to make it unplayable? This is the current bridge;
4. Christmas songs are always a bit naff though really aren't they, these days its x factor, novelty or some old rock band that needs a cash boost starting a facebook campaign... I'm quite fond of christmas wrapping by the waitresses though. Dunno why... I've always kinda liked it.
5. I am definitely not cool... I've also never been described as hot... Guess people would regard me as lukewarm... or perhaps tepid...
6.
I would guess, and it would be a handy feature, so you can balance the volume between the 4ohm 1x12 in power amp A and the 4ohm 2x12 in power amp B (other cone sizes and impedances are available) so that one cab isn't drowning out the other. It's not a problem I have had but I can see it being a valid situation.
Yeah that makes sense... should have read more of the thread!
7.
Disappointed it doesn't seem possible to control the volume of each power amp individually on the 12.2, unless someone knows different?
Just one volume for both power amp it would seem. Out of interest Why whould you want to control them seperately?
8. I'd have liked the footswitch to trigger the mute, that would have been handy... At the moment it's just an extra thing for me to carry... I leave it at home mostly.
9. I notice all the GAK genz stuff has gone to next day delivery which in my experiance means they actually have it in stock... I argued them down to £549 for mine as I'd already bought a cab... I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too difficult to do the same.
10. Well there is no "need" to learn scales.... there is also no "need" to be any good...
11. I picked up the ShuttleMax12.2 in the GAK deal..... It's monstrously loud.... I've had a fair chance to play around with it now and I'm really liking the sound, it's incredibly versatile and for what I paid it's a hell of a lot of amp.
12.
Same rule applies Rob
Thanks, much appreciated.
13.
yeah Im going that way too but Im not overkeen on the headstock... Wonder what the play difference is like?
I guess unless you have the chance to try them both out it's impossible to tell what they play like.... Its an interesting looking bass though. I've not seen one like that before, is it MIJ?
14. I like the look of that 75 personally... although I thought the thumb rest had moved to the other side of the strings by 75.... I may well be wrong! Whatever it is though it looks lovely....
15. Brief hijack...sorry... I set up my 50th jazz a little while back and adjusted the truss rod .I asked about it at the time and was told, right turn to tighten (less relief) and left turn to loosen (more relief). The adjustment is at the body end of the neck. I also have an 83 jazz that I may need to adjust but the adjustment is at the headstock.... Is it still right turn (clockwise) to tighten and left turn (anticlockwise) to loosen? Or does that change as the rod is the other way round?
16. I've got three of these for various cabs, they do exactly what they should do
17. Some sort of forum for musicians wanted that links to both BC and GC would be good..... The BC one doesnt really work... 28'000 bass players are probably not the best people to be asking if they need a bass player in their band.
18. wow turns out kanye west's new tune is sh*t... who'd have thought it after all those classics earlier on in his career...
19.
The bus? Ah...I always drive, but I've often wondered how MrsB gets my gear to gigs
Ah no car for me sadly, not much point in London. Bus/tube for small gigs... Just bought an enormous rig though so not quite sure how thats going to pan out... taxi maybe... perhaps I'll buy a sack barrow and walk.
20.
In terms of footprint (floor space required) a G1/2 Compact is the same size as a S12.
Not sure I could manage with an S12 on the bus though....
21. I reckon the Super 12 and the PF 500 is going to sound pretty epic anyway... keep the compact for when space is going to be at a premium. Always handy to have a versatile rig.
22.
Yes, I had a 4-ohm snooker table and this happened to me too.
Yeah I think my problem was trying to run it in parallel with the 8 ohm card table...
23. I really like the look of these....
24. Basschat stetson for me please.... failing that a nice panama...
25. Beautiful.... must resist...
