1.
Wow, thanks for letting me know. Could have been a big and costly mistake there....
Can happen to anyone... I set fire to my parents snooker table once after hooking up the wrong cabs to a power amp when i was 13
 2. *edit* explained better above ^ Think the PF500 needs a min of 4 ohms.... Best not try that particular cab combination
 3.
...I really fancy the Sea Foam Green finish. Will give a a go...
Thats the one I like as well I'm guessing it'll need a bit of a setup as you say, but very few basses are perfect out of the box anyway. If you do get one do a little review, I'd be interested to know how it plays.
 4. Asides from the comical name.... I like the look of them to be honest, some interesting colours. Was thinking about getting one to have lying about the house to noodle on when I'm watching the telly or whatever.... I wouldn't think they are of the utmost quality to be honest. Probably comparable to other basses you could get for the money.
 5. I'm having Tom at COG build one to my specs but it's only going on my pedalboard that I use for nights where I'm running straight into the desk. Saves me taking an amp to open mic nights etc. When I'm using my full rig, I just plug my cable straight in.
 6.
See my sig... Or if you can't - I've gone back to my Compact, which I never actually quite sold.... it's a complicated story!
Thats cool, sometimes it takes trying out something else to realise what you had to start with is what you really wanted anyway!
 7.
That's a heck of a rig!!! What kind of gigs do you play?
Loud ones... Trying out some new projects at the moment got a jam with some guys next weekend for generic rock stuff. I'm writing a bunch of full songs at the moment with the view of advertising for other members... I'm fed up of people asking me to play root notes so I've been forced into setting up my own band so I can play the basslines I want! Glad you've managed to move your cab on, nothing worse than being stuck with gear your not sure about... what are you thinking of getting next?
 8. Had a good blast on the new rig at the weekend... very impressed, hardly touched the EQ, found myself playing more on the bridge pickup than usual, guess there is something in the midrange drop with the NX2s others are mentioning?... still just moved my hand to compensate and it sounded ace Don't know if you'll be able to get hold of these cabs anymore but anyone in need of an entire new rig could do alot worse for the money than a ShuttleMax12.2 and a pair of NX2s.
 9. Just play louder it'll be fine...
 10. We haven't had a good clang plank thread for a while...
 11. If he has a choice it's got to be right handed surely? much broader and cheaper choice of gear for a start. I can't play a note left handed
 12.
How much are you guys dialing the tweeter in?
Got mine set to 12 o'clock at the moment... haven't had a full volume test yet though, I'll have a tweak around with it when I get the chance.
 13.
It's a non issue IMHO
+1
 14.
I feel quite lucky that I don't see any of that on mine. Mind you, the foam material is not an issue...
Well you can't see any of it with the naked eye, its only the camera flash that lights it up... Its not really a concern to me, I just thought I'd have a look as others had mentioned it. Still great cabs
 15. OK comparison time... The issue with the handle screws is obvious from the photos. Not sure whats going on with the foam at the bottom though? I have some in the US made cab but not the Mex one? I couldn't be bothered to take it all apart and find out... Anyway, small cosmetic niggles aside, I have two super loud, super light, great sounding cabs so I'm certainly not going to be sending anything back! Mexican handle, US handle, Mexican floor, US floor,
 16. Took advantage of the recent super low prices to get myself a new GB rig. Shuttlemax12.2 into 2x nx2-212t cabs...
 17. Its a mexican themed party... I'll bring the tequila
 18.
Just ordered a Streamliner 900 and FCS-410T cab. Should be with me tomorrow! can't wait!
Waheyyy join the party....
 19.
Just a wonder, GAK replied saying all of the cabs they get through now are MIM. So are the ones from Bass Direct USA ones or have some random old stock USA ones been sent out from the dusty store cupboards lol? Also just wondering CamdenRob how do the MIM and USA built cabs compare in the finer details? Asking out of interest tbh, I'm sure they sound great whoever made them! Afaik the covers are made in Batley, West Yorkshire.
They looked identical when I had a brief look over them last night, no difference in sound either (only tested at moderate volume). I will have a look at the long screws thing tonight and get some pics if I can. The USA one came from Bassdirect and the Mex from GAK. they were packaged differently as well, same box but the foam cutouts were different for each cab, which inatially made me think they were from different factories. Apparently my first cover arrived this morning so I'll have a check over that as well tonight.
 20.
Well Barefaced reckon putting them we want them ruins the sound, thats why they use the strap type ones on the outside which I am not a fan of and might be ok with less weight but not really suited to the weight of the Genz really IMO
Thats fair enough... I'd rather put up with it being a bit awkward to move around than have to compromise on the sound.
 21.
The handles are in a poor location.
Its true they are... its not a deal breaker though, just an observation. I'm very pleased overall
 22.
I always lift, when possibly, with two people...
Not an option for me I don't have any friends.....
 23.
We bought the cabs, with our money. I think we have the right to mention any little niggles!
You are of course correct.... My main niggle is the position of the handles... who's idea was that? a single one at the back of the top would have made it much easier to wheel around and one half way up each side would have made it easier to carry.
 24.
Particularly now that baritone guitars are finding their way into the genre.
Agreed... and to my ears, the bands without any bass sound better, or certainly not any worse.
 25.
MIM - Made in Mexico by Mexicans with long screws MIA - Made in America by Mexicans with the correct screws (Classic line from Talkbass that says it all)
... ... My 83 US Jazz has the body stamped by a gentleman called R.Lopez and the neck by another called G.Garcia....
