What happened there? typed out a load of stuff then clicked something and it disappeared? ah well.... Rough gist was... I played in hardcore metal bands a lot when I was younger. Most bass players were failed guitarists who played the same as the guitar an octave down. I used to add alot of melody with the bass, we used to stand out as most bands in the genre had non existant bass... thing is... listening back to it... I think our bands were worse for having a proper bass player. Overall the bands would have achieved the sound they were going for better without any of my bass at all.... When I see hardcore bands now I really don't see the point of a bass guitar in this type of music?
How bizarre! Great looking rig anyway! I still think it's a massive bargain no matter where it was made. I think mine says Dec 12 as date of manufacture.
It looked like that for approximately 15 seconds until MrsC put an tablecloth on it declaring "our living room is not glastonbury"... I'll have a check on the dates of mine when I get home. Very pleased with the whole setup really though.

Got all the various parts of mine set up yesterday. Very pleased overall. ShuttleMax12.2 feels very solid with nice metal control knobs, all of which are lightly notched all the way round, which makes it all feel very well put together. With regards to sound I'll spare you the minute details, but the highest compliment I can pay this rig is that my jazz sounded exactly like a jazz and my active spector sounded exactly like an active spector. It is the most transparent amp I've ever owned and seriously loud. Looking forward to having a full battle volume blast this weekend... Regarding where it was all made (excuse the dodgy phone camera photos)...Back of cab One looks like this, Back of cab Two like this, and the back of the amp looks like this... So that's the US, Mexico and Taiwan represented.... Got my cables from obbm in the UK. Where are Roqsolid covers made? this is my truly international bass rig....

I'm quite intrigued by these...

The minefield that comes from being in a band
If you are using this approach then you are going to have to pay your musicians. No one is going to play unknown 'covers' for free. You're allowing no creative input from 'the band'. I played in a project where the songwriter/keys dictated exactly what notes I played, what rhythms and tempo the drummer played at, how the singer sang. We never got to the gig stage because he had not written the parts In the way a bass player, drummer etc thinks and took no creative input from the rest of the musicians. It was fairly soul destroying for the rest of us playing stuff we knew wasn't right and knowing it could be so much better.
This just about sums my recent experiences with auditioning to play bass for singer / songwriters. I always get a follow up email the next day saying "We'd really like you to join but we want you to play root notes"... fair enough.. pay me then. -
I got one of the same batch from BD delivered yesterday, mine looks fine...

Its arrived Shame I'm at work all day... I haven't been this excited since the strictly come dancing halloween special....

First NX2-212 arrived from Bass Direct yesterday The rest appears to be in Hornsey according to the tracking thingy. MrsC is not impressed, thinks it looks 'ugly'... In hindsight, it may have been better not to set it up in the livingroom...
You basically have a super loud/light rig, for a lot less than normal!
It was a good deal, I needed a new rig and the timing of this was perfect, I've been very lucky with it all really. I've ended up with the ShuttleMax12.2 and Two NX2-212Ts with Roqsolid covers and the little bag thing for the head for £1450 all in... probably would have cost me twice that this time last year for an identical rig. Thank you BC Just hope it all turns up alright...

I have Mono straps on all my basses... can't get on with leather.

Unfortunately I'll be at work tomorrow when it arrives... MrsCamdenRob will have to sign for it. Providing everything actually turns up, I'm going to book an hour at the studio opposite my house on Saturday to give it a full welly workout.
... they very helpfully offered to send me replacement ones for my combo free of charge, so hats off to Gallien Krueger. I'm going to order my cab today.
Excellent stuff...

OK so it sounds like mine might be repairable... anyone know anybody in London who could do this type of work? I'd never trust myself with it...
-
As such you can't repair them like with nitrocellulose where you just add more and the fresh solvent does the work of blending it in...
I have some dinks in a jazz I acquired with a nitro finish, would someone who knows what they are doing be able to touch these up then? I always imagined they were there for good....

Just got a reassuring phone call from GAK. Apparently I am 'on the list' and they hope to have them in tomorrow ... exciting times.
By any chance did you check with Roqsolid about the "taper" on the cover to stop fouling the wheels?
I only read about that after I'd ordered it unfortunately.... I got one with a velcro flap I assume will keep it tight to the bottom of the cab? guess I'll find out when it arrives.
...didn't want to take chances with GAK...
Me neither, I knew better...but I still did I'm awaiting a ShuttleMax12.2 and one NX2 212T cab from GAK and one NX2 212T cab and the shuttle bag thingy from Bass Direct.... oh and a cover from roqsolid (I'll order another if the GAK cab actually turns up) Got the speakons from obbm on here already though good old BC It'll be a miracle if this all works out...
