Just spoke to GAK. They have 17 on order... Mine is number 14... 3 left chaps...
Well I have also put an order in now, I guess we'll see what happens
I've just emailed them to confirm I'll actually get one if I order one, then I'm in as well!

I notice the gallery have one for £805...... wonder if they will price match
Normally I would wait until the item is in stock, but they have a limited supply on order ( six I believe) so I was concerned that they might be sold on pre order before they arrive.
Sounds like a wise course of action to me, they are going to fly out the door! I once ordered a YamahaTRB from GAK... waited for two months then gave up and got a refund.

hmmm.... one of those 212s for me I think.... I'll hang on till they are actually in stock though. My previous experiance of GAK is they list every single item of bass equipment available then try and get hold of it when someone orders it...

I think it's just that there are far more fenders out there than anything else... so you see more of them modified or otherwise.

Lined Fretless neck - why did I wait sooooo long!
CamdenRob replied to steviedee's topic in Bass Guitars
I've got lines on mine and I'm still crap.... -
I'm feeling a gamelan-prog-hop vibe myself
Rob, without any disrespect, she sounds like she`s the brains of the outfit...
Thats very true... She has the degree, my highest level qualification is my cycling proficiency I did when I was 10...

This weeks gas list... 63 reissue P bass in sonic blue 3EQ black/maple stingray Thumb NT and the ever present Wal....
Hm, I think my girlfriend would go for something like this
Blimey thats a bit lively... I was quite taken with the P bass, not quite so sure about that!
-
Unfortunately it looks as though your girlfriend has no taste. Best dump her now... ;-)
To be honest, anyone who puts up with me for any length of time has questionable taste...

Someone was selling a tribby in the BC marketplace a week or so back where they had changed the neck... dunno if maybe they still had the original? might be worth a thread search...
Does she have a sister?
She does... nice girl... bass guitar preferences unverified though.
...you were a truly awful teacher and did absolutely nothing to inspire your pupils you *%^£!?* waste of space.
We had a few of those... Our music teachers as a whole though were pretty good.
Ah, sorry, I thought it was this one you meant: http://www.wunjoguit...-precision-1976 NB Interesting to see the URL says '76 and the text says '63!
It's OK I've confused myself.... often happens... I'll head back one day this week and have a proper look.
Price is right for a refin '63 depending on quality of the finish. In fact, given that it's had a couple of other things done to it then it may be a trifle high (but that's just Denmark Street prices). There seems to be a bit of a myth, mostly perpetuated by a few of the higher end vintage dealers, that refin early 60's P's are cracking the £3,500 mark but they really aren't selling at this sort of price. The quality of the refin makes a huge difference. if it's not a very good nitro then you're looking much closer to £2,500 than £3,000.
I'm pretty sure the one in the window was £17something which made me think it was a 63 reissue as opposed to the refin (although I was very hungover so reading the price was a bit difficult)... cracking looking bass regardless of what it actually was.
Better hope she didn't disappear as she sounds cool
I hope not too, I'm pretty pleased with her... nice tone, good finish, reasonable vintage...
Your gf has been kidnapped and you were on a date with a BC'er in disguise
That could be true ...It's also possible she left me ages ago for someone less interested in bass guitars.... and I've been imagining her ever since
There's some good pictures on Sweetwater's page http://www.sweetwate...il/PBass63RFSBL at £1787 here, as it's a new model - $1999 stateside doesn't make it worth importing
I like it even more now after those pictures.... I think the one I saw was up for about that, which made me think it was one of these 63 reissues and not the resprayed one they had on their website. Either way I shouldn't be considering buying it... I only bought a fretless last week...
I too have seen this bass, which I think was in another Denmark Street store and was moved by it! However Fender now make a 63 vintage reissue in this colour which is also appealing. I have avoided the temptation so far though! Are you sure it's not just the colour which took her eye?
After looking into it I'm a bit confused... Their website says its the refinished one, although the price tends to suggest its the 63 reissue (which is the image I've posted here) I don't remember enough about the headstock or how old the neck looked to confirm which it was... think it might require another visit... maybe I'll sweep by after work today. It just looked to me like a very pleasing combination of colour and shape.
That bass is a complete and total turnoff to me. Horrid.
Well ordinarily that would have been my reaction... I've always eschewed the faithful P bass... But this one was different, it really was... I'm very tempted to at least go back and give it a go, having not played a P for many years after a bad initial experiance. It really did look impressive in the flesh.
That is one beautiful bass. Sonic/mint/rosewood is pure class. Tell your missus I'd be delighted to accompany her to the sax shop any day of the week.
Your more than welcome although she seemed keen on the contra bass sax they had in the window.. which whilst being one of the most impressive musical instruments I have ever seen (standing at nearly 2 meters tall) at a tad over £20K it's a little out of my impulse buy price range.... The P bass was seriously attractive though... I've not seen the light blue colour like that before. I did mention maybe a maple neck but I was told that the "rosewood was already perfect"... maybe I'll suggest it as a christmas present
Hang on , it's just occurred to me, are you sure she isn't feeling guilty about something?
That thought did cross my mind... although if she has done something wrong then she can buy me the P bass to make up for it, so it's not all bad...

6 Strings/Custom Builds - What did YOU take into account?
CamdenRob replied to BenTunnicliffe's topic in Bass Guitars
Well my experiance with having a custom sixer built is; 1) Decide on specs and get very excited... 2) Wait... 3) Wait some more... 4) Wait a bit longer... 5) Get excited as the delivery date approaches... 6) Get annoyed as it hasn't even started to get built yet... 7) Wait again... 8) Wait some more... 9) Still waiting.... It's an incredibly frustrating process that to be honest I wish I'd never started...
