1. Mainly because it's difficult to play an electro version of Mustang Sally...
2. I've had four Fender basses over the last couple of years, two MIAs and two MIJs, three were excellent and one not so great.. I did have an MIM strat for a while though and that was superb - Bought it blind and it played / sounded great straight out of the box.
3.
Is also the intro to Atomic by Blondie.
Yes I remember the lawsuit... Bitter stuff...
4.
I'm not sure what a pro is anymore. I would think being in a professional band would be part of it. I would not label my band as professional. We gig a lot but that a line does not mean your professional. Blue
I would say you are the very definition of professional blue... your existence is solely sustained by the money you earn from music. Still enjoying the diaries Mark need to catch up on the last few.
5.
Aguilar padded covers for head and cabs, Thomann own brand hard bass cases, Stagg pedal board and then cables/mic/other bits and pieces in the silver aluminium tool case. The folding steps are to raise my amp up a bit closer to ear level. Not pictured are a Hercules dual guitar stand and mic stand which travel loose.
That looks really tidy... only a couple of loose bits and everything is rectangular... appeals to my OCD...
6. ... and sold Thanks again for all the interest chaps.
7. Is it not when the string touches the pole piece as opposed to your finger? I had this on a jazz recently and it infuriated me to the point where I eventually replaced the pickup covers with ones that covered the pole pieces.
8.
...then I listened to someone play it on youtube and I felt like binning my bass, the guy played the same tune I was playing at like quadruple the tempo ;(
Don't worry about it... Youtube is full of people playing stuff as quickly as possible regardless of whether it sounds s**t...
9. I hardly ever play at home... Only when I have something to learn / parts to write or I need to commit something to memory before a rehearsal / gig. Quite regularly go a week or so without picking up the bass if I've no rehearsals / gigs.
10. Sounds like solid advice to me... assuming this article is squarely aimed at those trying to "make it" playing their own music.
11. Epifani has it's own little carry bag with a pocket for mains lead, speaker cables etc, cabs have fitted covers, and the whole lot gets strapped to a collapsible trolley with some of those straps for holding canoes etc on top of your car. Gigbag has a pocket for instrument leads, strap, spare strings and a little leather pouch (Which is under no circumstances to be mistaken for a ladies purse ) containing ear plugs, fuses, tools etc. Bass on my back, amp / cabs on a trolley and one hand free for fending off groupies... job done.
12.
Hmm, that seems to be quite a lot of money considering it is just a parts built bass with a custom finish?
Yes it certainly wasn't cheap... Was the cheapest I could find for a custom color Fender shape at the time of ordering though. If I was going for one now I'd likely go Maruszczyk.
13. On Hold... a couple of offers to work through. Thanks for the interest and comments guys
14. This is exactly the sort of thing I would have done... Three beauties there though covering all bases
15.
And my vote is in. Listening back to my entry i wish it wasn't so much quieter than everyone elses.
I had this issue the first month we did this... Someone set up a playlist and when it came to mine, it disappeared... Ever since I've tried to make sure it's as loud as possible without clipping. ... Also nothing wrong with your playing
16. Had a good listen through and voted my favourite was Agwin's noodle this month... Invokes images of Vietnam era America to me and some of the great music that came out of that sh**storm... My other favourites were Discreet with his debut noodle and funkshui both edging out Subsonic's squarepusher type effort which I also enjoyed. Good stuff again chaps the standard of players we have here on this forum never ceases to amaze me.
17.
You should have hung them up next to an open window instead of letting that amphibian wear them.
I can't control what she does with my clothing when I'm out at work...
18. Goodness me... I hope you have decent insurance
19. It is voting time already... My trousers have only just dried out from the excitement of last months voting...
20. There is something pleasing about getting rid of things you are not using and don't need... this is not just true of basses, but pretty much everything you own. Chuck out clothes that no longer fit, go through cupboards you haven't looked in for years, get rid of old books you'll never read etc. A less cluttered life is a less cluttered mind... or something...
21. Right, well as beautiful and nice to play as this is, it is simply collecting dust as I never seem to find myself in a situation where I would use it over my Wal... MIJ 66 Reissue Jazz - Aged Olympic White - Matching Headstock Not sure why they call it a 66 reissue as its not dot and bound and also doesn't have lollypop tuners... those crazy Japanese... It is a lovely color though and sounds / plays great Only thing keeping it from being mint it that a couple of the pickguard screw holes are a little scruffy under the pickguard. Nothing major and you can't see it but just noting for full disclosure. Regarding the pickguard, I have not been able to find any that fit as a direct replacement despite ordering (and subsequently butchering) several replacements from the usual ebay sources, none quite fit right so I have put the original back on. Only change is that I have replaced the pickup casings with solid ones as I thought they looked better and also I kept hitting the exposed pole pieces on the originals (which will be included and are an easy swap back). I do not have a case or gigbag for this (the cat claimed it as a bed the day it arrived), but I do have a fetching matching strap for it which will be included. Collection only I am afraid from Camden NW1 evenings or weekends. Cash on collection, paypal gift or bank transfer. No trades thank you.
22. With the recent plunge in the value of the pound I suspect this basses future lies across the pond....
23. This is not a game I want to play... The amount of money I have lost on everything I've bought from BC over the last couple of years is not something I want to know...
