Has anyone compared a BF BB2 with a Vanderkley 115MN6?
CamdenRob replied to dave_bass5's topic in Amps and Cabs
Gareth. It's says 20kg on the box. Can't confirm this to be the correct weight of the cab though. Seems close enough though. A quick phone pic.
Always thought Vanderkley stuff looked great... that is a pretty cab. -
That's an exceptional effort on the raffle prizes...

...you bought a Fender.
Serves me right for not thinking it through properly.
Don't worry about that... if I thought everything through before posting I'd never post anything... I notice I've recently passed 4000 posts and at least half of that is nonsense.

Ibanez SR1206 - anyone tried F# to G tuning?
CamdenRob replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
I've not played one myself but surely a low F# must be barely audible? -
Mrs C and I are very much looking forward to this We may only manage a couple of hours due to some other commitments, but looking forward to meeting you all... and your gear
I don't like Lady Gaga so i change the radio station when she comes on and i don't play any of her songs in my band...
That's preposterous... you can't just simply ignore the things you don't like... it's just not how things are done... Get yourself on facebook and bleat endlessly about it.
...I'd like to go vol / blend / tone as well, can't be that difficult surely?
I'm assuming not, but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, so I think I shall give it to someone who knows about these sorts of things to do it for me.

Woha! a hive of activity in ere all of a sudden with noodles coming in from all over the place... I shall have as listen to all the new ones as soon as I can

What do you favour -straight plug or angled plugs
CamdenRob replied to Kex's topic in Accessories and Misc
can't vote... I feel somehow disenfranchised..
Yeah I too have had enough of this two party jack plug system... they are all just in it for themselves. You buy an angled jack thinking things will change for the better, but after a year it just turns out to be a straight jack in disguise... it's outrageous... viva la revolution! -
Bit of a slow forum day..? ANGLED!!
indeed... I'm currently drafting a thread on which color of strap you prefer. Well which color of strap one prefers I should say... although a thread where we all discuss which color of strap you specifically prefer could also work... -

No real preference with my fender style basses if I'm honest... only straights on the Wal though as the jack socket is recessed. -
I found last weekend, my first time recording anything with a passive bass (or a bass with active circuit bypassed) and it did indeed sit a lot better in the mix. I'm definitely converted. Now the only problem I have is that I really do favour the stacked pot circuits and I'd love an original Fender with one of these circuits. I'm off to extract a kidney.
I think it's very easy and reversible to change wiring around / get some different pots. I'm going to change my jazz from VVT to Master Volume - Blend - Tone once I've worked out the easiest way of doing it
What do you do for a living then ? I'm now hugely curious
Construction management... for my sins. Good money... bad everything else.

Jazz pickup cover no holes - Where to buy?
CamdenRob replied to CamdenRob's topic in Accessories and Misc
You could probably have done it with electrician's tape over the pole pieces (after removing the cases) then screw the covers back on. Glad you got it sorted though.
Yes I did consider that... I'd already bought the covers by that point though. nevermind, job done anyway -
It's only Wednesday morning but this week has been pretty good so far.
Wednesday morning is the worst of all... I've already spent two long soul destroying days at work covering up other peoples mistakes and attempting to detract attention from our shocking incompetence by habitually blaming someone else... As it's only Wednesday I still have three whole days left until the weekend when I can numb myself with Gin and pretend everything isn't all about greed and jobs for the boys.... ...f**k Wednesday morning

I appreciate that BC is probably not representative of the average bassist, the very fact we frequent a bass forum tends to an interest in the instrument beyond simply banging out a few tunes with some mates at the weekend... but I still find it surprising that only 5% of us have just the one bass. I would imagine that there are far far more people out there in the real world with just one bass than there are with even two?
-
I think both have a place... P with flats, P with rounds and a scooped jazz with rounds are classic tones and the sounds most of us expect to hear from a bass... I still think my Wal sounds head and shoulders above my other basses though in a band situation. Just a personal preference...

These arrived today having ordered them yesterday... Perfect fit can't argue with that for service. -
70s - Wasn't born... 80s - Was a small child... Was OK. Played with lego etc.... think my mum had a perm. 90s - Was a teenager... Was great. Played in bands, played computer games, got high all the time and never went to school. 00s - Had to work for a living... Was epically sh*t in just about every imaginable way 10s - ditto 20s - will be the same 30s - ditto 40s - Will be dead
Turning the cabs on their side not an option?
Yes I think that'll be the outcome... I would like to have them upright if I can though, get them up a bit closer to my ear... not that there is a lot in it. It'll be fine, I'm just being OCD about it...
Doesn't repair the damage though does it?
No of course not... people just don't think do they... well either that or they just don't care which also seems to be a popular attitude.
Here is my One10 setup.. Lovely..
OK so I can add the puma 900 to the list of amps that will fit on top on my pair when they arrive if I can't bring myself to live with the Glockenklang overhang...
