1.
You sir, have far too much time and money on your hands! Whereas I just have far too much time on my hands.
There is no hope for me... I've stopped pretending I'm even a real bass player anymore...
 2. I think it's pretty normal around these parts to want for something better from your gear... even if what you already have does exactly what you want ... I love the tone of my amp and cab setup, but I still find myself looking at Glockenklang 210s wondering if they would be better than my berg... I've no idea why as I love the berg
 3. I've absolutely no idea, but if it sounds good and goes loud then it was a bargain
 4.
With the Wals I got into the habit of changing the battery every time I do a string change
That's a good idea I think I shall adopt... ... however next time I sell out the Royal Albert Hall I'll change the battery anyway just in case.
 5. I have all my gear as listed items on my Aviva house insurance... I have it all covered for "professional use" to cover me for the odd occasion I receive some beer tokens for a gig. Everything has a listed replacement value. ... as with any insurance though, I'll only really know how good it is if I have to claim.
 6. OK it looks like this might actually be doable for me this year... If I can share a corner with someone who's bringing an amp, I could bring a couple of basses on the train for anyone interested in having a noodle
 7. I love all my basses... Apart from an MIJ Fender Jazz I have had them all built for me so I feel pretty invested in all of them... I also have another build on the way due next year. I wouldn't want to part with any of them but I'd never say never... life changes, priorities change, I may find myself in a position at some point in the future where I'm no longer remotely interest in basses or music. In which case I'd sell them all ... although out of my current stable the Wal is the least likely to be going anywhere.
 8.
i don't see the point in owning loads of basses that never get played!
Give it time... I notice you are relatively new to BC... GAS gets us all in the end.
 9. I was down to two at one point last year.... crept back up to 4 again now.
 10. Anyone know which popular Class D amps use which modules? Someone posted a list of which cabs use which drivers the other day and it was really interesting to see who uses what.
 11.
P.S. I think the BF haters on here either clearly have a hidden agenda and will most likely be somehow allied with another cab company or shop OR should simply be considered internet trolls. Nothing they have come up with has been based on real life experience with any current Barefaced cabs, it is all copied hearsay nonsense and should be regarded as such.
...
 12.
I was hoping to have another go this month, had a noodle all planned and everything. Unfortunately I managed to bugger my right knee by throwing myself down the stairs. I have rather badly strained my MCL. It feels fine (now, after almost a week) until I do a couple of very specific things, 1: turn my lower leg outwards, and 2: touch the inside of my knee. The effected area is quite small, about two and a half square inches, but touching it, even lightly, causes blinding, nauseating flashes of pain. Guess where my bass rests when I play... I just can't find a position comfortable enough for me to concentrate on what I'm doing. But I will be voting.
Ouch... Sounds horrible... I hope you've recovered sufficiently by next month so we can hear the noodle anyway
 13. Ok I've had a go at this using an average of several wildly varying readings for each bass from a rather unreliable set of luggage scales... Wal MK3 Six String - 10.4lb Peterbuilt fretless Jazz - 10.0lb Fender MIJ Jazz - 9.2lb Moollon P - 8.6lb Surprised at the weight of the Peterbuilt... They all balance just fine though which I would find more of an issue than the weight.
 14.
I tend to give each noodle a couple of listens as it comes in and then wait till they’re all ready to be voted on before I listen to them all again. I have, in the past, considered commenting on the noodles of others but find myself deferring to the superior eloquence of (if I may be so familiar) Rob’s comments - I’m sure we all appreciate your taking the time Sir.
I dunno about eloquent I do try and comment on everything, as do a couple of others I've noticed In the full blown compo comp thread Dad does a full write up of each piece every month... really gets into the details. It must take him ages and it really looks good and I am sure is one of the reasons the competition remains popular. I hope to emulate something similar (although in far less detail) here in our humble noodle bar... It's nice to get feedback, I try and say who I've voted for and why when the voting thread pops up as well. BC is a friendly place and one mans noodle is as good as any others, each are worthy of a little listen and I'm always happy to comment
 15.
I usually wait until they're all up & give the whole list a couple of listens.
That's the sensible approach... I get over excited and listen to them all in a random disorganized manner, then forget who did what when it comes around to the voting and have to listen to them all again...
 16.
Errm is that looped! I thought you said you won't use a looper too. Traitor! Haha
17.
Ha!! Love a tumbleweed. I don't usually comment, as i feel people might not care about my random thoughts and associations their noodles inspire in me, but i enjoy listening to all the noodles. For what it's worth though.... Rob, yours reminded me of a western themed nursery rhyme. I liked the way it picks up in tempo. Moollon bass sounding great too. Cool noodle See, told you my thoughts would make no sense!
Ha it's cool... i wasn't fishing for feedback, more lamenting a general lack of interest! I do very much appreciate your comments though, I always try and say something about the other noodles and nothing I say ever makes any sense so I wouldn't worry. It is very nursery rhyme like in isolation, the whole piece kinda sounds like a sea shanty with the other layers... would work quite well on an accordion I reckon. Anyway... hoping for a few last minute supernoodles to add to the pot
 18.
I think it's great to be able to look back at your first Bass..
Just the thought of mine makes me feel quite unwell...
 19.
Accent on the 'e', soften the 't'
Class D amps... zey ave no eft.
 20. How on earth are those manufactured, packaged, shipped from china, put on a shelf and sold to us at a profit for a pound...
 21. How do you say heft in French?
 22.
Sounds like Spector is the TB equivalent of Barefaced on here!!
Well it is written into the BC commandments. 1) Thou shalt ask the weight of every bass for sale regardless of whether one intends to buy the bass in question. 2) Thou shalt not criticize barefaced products, they we're crafted by angels from trees felled in the sacred forest and are beyond reproach ... especially the handles. 3) Thou shalt ask which bass is best for metal at every opportunity. 4) Thou shalt start a new thread discussing the merits of relicing if the previous one has received no replies for a period of 3 days. 5) Thou shalt suggest gear thy currently own to anyone asking a which bass / which amp / which pedal is best question. 6) Thou shalt always refer to thy vintage Fender as "one of the good ones" 7) Thou shalt declare a "final price drop" a week after listing a bass for sale and withdraw it in a huff a couple of days later if it does not sell. 8) Thou shalt reply "it's all in the fingers" to any thread discussing tone. 9) Thou shalt declare all class D amplifiers to be lacking in "Heft" 10) Thou shalt advise anyone asking about upgrading their gear to spend the money on lessons instead. ... oh and 11) Thou shalt buy all thy cables from OBBM.
 23. Does it have to be 12s? I went from a 212 setup to a 2 x 112 as I thought the two 12s would be easier, but I found that 1 x 112 wasn't enough to get over a loud drummer on it's own so ended up taking both with me everywhere anyway. I've since moved to a 210 which is plenty loud enough and not much bigger than the 112 I do still want to add a matching 112 at some point though to give me more options for smaller / really big gigs.
 24. Get back out there gigging quick before you spend all your money on bass gear you don't need! on topic... The guy who imports the Chowny basses is a member here and I understand he does some kind of BC discount. Other more knowledgeable answers to follow I expect.
