If you mean the shallow 'V' that lines up against the bell plate, you could carefully file to shape...
Yeah it's that bit... All the screw holes line up, it's just the v is slightly to long. What sort of file do I need? I'm rubbish at man stuff...

OK... So after unscrewing the original tort it turns out my options are... 1) Original Tort 2) Get the hacksaw out All three new ones are a couple of mm too big heading towards the control plate... It's not a lot, but enough that it doesn't sit flush against the metal. Could I sand them maybe?
Very nice ... but I am suggesting cream pearl pickguard and lollipop tuners.
Yes other colour suggestions are more than welcome...

So with such trivial and lighthearted issues in the news today as rich people not paying any tax in order to be even richer, and a woman being attacked by a mad axeman... I have turned my attention this evening to something entirely more serious. This is my new (to me) MIJ 66 Reissue Jazz So, is it to be Black? Vintage (considerably less cream than I thought it would be) White? Mint? Or even... god forbid... the original Tort? Unfortunately the light is a bit crap at the moment due to the fact it is absolutely pissing it down in London right now... so the photos aren't great. Still... your assistance is appreciated.

In my experience an idiot with pickups is better than an idiot with a microphone...
Got caught by my ex girlfriends mum in her room once
Why were you making a bass video in you ex-girlfriends mums bedroom?

She could have caught him doing worse things in his bedroom...
Yes indeed; Rotosound Trubass RS88M (Black Nylon...). They've been on this bass for almost a decade, now, and I only changed 'em then on a whim..! I've other basses, but the weight (or rather, lack of...) and the playing ease (no blisters here..!) make this my 'go to' bass. No, I don't do 'slap', and have use for neither picks nor tweeters..!
It's a lovely thumpy tone. Never played a semi style bass before... it's on my list of things to try out along with an 8 string (pairs).
Here we go, then; not the baritone, but my Verithin trying out a newly-received EHX 'The Clone Theory' pedal (Thanks, Ratman...)... BC Noodle April 2016 ...
Very summery Dad... it's a gloomy afternoon here in the office in London, but that has brightened things up nicely What strings have you got on the Verithin? tapes? ... it really does sound very DB like.

AKG Headphones , and those detachable cords

I have a pair of these... with a detectable chord. But to be honest I mostly bought them because I thought they looked cool... sound great though -
I could make a computer "Music specific" By installing i-tunes by that measure. Sell Anything is perfectly good for its use if there was more call for selling computers then it would be a busier. When I look for other items I am looking for bass and guitar parts, not computer parts. It's an already saturated forum section that does not need more posts. Especially when some members clearly deal in computers for a living yet still allowed to post! We are a Bass site, not a general stuff for sale site. It took forever to get a Sell Anything section and it serves the purpose.
This.
Ah, but I didn't go to bed until 04:30 this morning due to fast women and a dangerous cocktail of drink and drugs - just like a real rock star! Woo-hoo, hey, rock 'n' roll, livin' the dream, and so on!! Actually, I watched Masterchef and dozed off on the sofa. Then I was woken up several times during the night by my sweaty menopausal wife. But not for any good or interesting reason. She snores like a wildebeest and steals all the quilt - or alternatively kicks it onto the floor entirely depending on whether she's hot or cold. Plus, I had to get up to pee about five times. I'm sorry to say I failed to die before I got old due to giving up smoking and drinking and taking advantage of the NHS. Not very rock 'n' roll at all, really.
Well to be honest, whilst I have been here since 7am, I've mostly been drinking tea and posting crap on basschat... ... I'm more a paid captive than an employee. -
I haven't quite woken up properly yet...
Well wake up man it's half past ten! .. some of us have been at our desks since 7am -

I get the bus through finsbury park / holloway on the way home from work, which means if I forget my headphones I get Arsenal fans bellowing their opinions at each other... I never forget my headphones -
Many of the iconic basslines we all love, if isolated, have so much gain/clankiness on them it`s amazing.
Far from iconic, but I remember the time I first heard one of my isolated bass tracks in a recording session when I was 14... clank, buzz, parp, slap, clang... and a few notes in between... During a session last year I heard some more of my isolated bass... yep still the same
Mmm... Vintage frets, they do have a great feel
I really like them too... My new (to me) MIJ Jazz has them as well. Is it a Fender Japan thing?
-
Yes but it is USA made don't forget...
Carlsboro Stingray may or may not be a crap amp, great name though, perhaps it would be a great name for a bass, oh hang on
I had a Carlsbro Viper for a while in the 90s... That was crap too.
More racquet from me... https://soundcloud.c...ard-smalls/miso
You always manage to caress a tone from that Wal I can't even get close to from mine. There is something beautiful in the purity of your playing that I love... I know it's just a little noodle, but even in these little improv snippets you sound like a guy totally at home on the bass... I can't ever imagine you worrying about a gig or session. I bet you just turn up and get the job done with style... No fuss. Of everyone I hear in the noodle bar, you and subsonic just sound so natural. Great stuff.
-
Well here is mine for the month still recorded very simply but direct this time. This is a noodle I first did a year ago I think, been wanting to refine it and put it to use sometime I may just do that. I personally don't think it suits my flatwounds though. https://youtu.be/UqMRNUg0tss
Like the riff style bit at the start... You wander off for a bit in true noodle fashion in the middle, then bring everything back together again for a few bars, before your rockstar twiddle at the end... I think this is your best one to date
Check your EQ settings - there is a lot of boost on tap, along with the speaker killing 'features' that ashdown build into their amps (deep switch, sub-harmonic generator) which can sound good at home practice levels, but add so much bass to the signal that once you crank the volume up to the sort of levels you need for gigs and rehearsals, the speakers will be farting out and getting damaged. For band use I find that turning off the deep switch and sub-harmonic, and applying some cut to the bass EQ, and bumping the mid and low mid slightly gives good results on my MAG 300-115 combo. High levels of volume at the fundamental frequency of the lowest notes are unnecessary, most of what we hear is 1st harmonic and above on these notes anyway.
This is sound advice... Whenever I am presented with an Ashdown amp at a rehearsal studio I always switch out the deep and sub and also roll the bass knob to 0...
I think it's about time Jon put pen to paper (or its electronic equivalent) and started that 'Japcrap - The Definitive Guide' coffee table tome.
I'd buy that...
