1. For your perusal today Gentleman we have a G&L L2000 Tribute. I bought this on a whim a couple of weeks back from new, got a great deal and didn't want to return it as essentially it would now be B stock and they might have issues moving it on as new. it's not really the shops fault I've bought something else and have no need for it... Anyway, specs from G&L;

CONSTRUCTION: bolt-on
SCALE: 34"
PICKUPS: Two L-spec G&L MFD™ humbucking pickups made in Fullerton, California
BODY WOOD: Swamp Ash on translucent and burst finishes, Basswood on solid finishes
NECK WOOD: Hard-Rock Maple with Maple or Rosewood fingerboard
NECK WIDTH AT NUT: 1 3/4"
NECK RADIUS: 12"
NECK PROFILE: medium C
FRETS: 21 medium jumbo, nickel
TUNING KEYS: Traditional open-back
BRIDGE: Leo Fender-designed G&L Saddle-Lock™
ELECTRONICS: Tri-Tone™ system with 3-position pickup selector, series/parallel switch, 3-position pre-amp mode switch, volume, treble, bass
This is my second L2000 tribute as I regretted selling the first one (quite why I think I won't regret selling this one as well is beyond me...) Really versatile basses with a fantastic tone, going from passive jazz to modern active and everything in between with some cool pickup options. A few pics... (which bring to my attention the need to hoover the cats rug ) Bass is pretty much mint, I can't find any blemishes... also there is some nice figuring on the neck, which does not have a gloss / satin finish, just smooth bare wood and is definitely more of a P profile than J. Ordinarily I do not ship basses, but as I still have the packaging from the shop I could get it sent out by courier (UK only). Although a buyer would have to be patient as I am unable to get stuff picked up during the week due to work, so I would have to get it sent out on a Saturday. Alternatiuvely the bass can be picked up from Camden NW1 evenings or weekends. £200 collected or £220 shipped No trades on this one, cash on collection or bank transfer.
  2. Bought a MIJ 66 Reissue from Tom and the deal couldn't have gone smoother from start to finish. Excellent communication, packaging and price. Tom even packed up the bass the same day and shipped it to me on to arrive on a Saturday. Deal with confidence
  3.
I have a bass line so damned cool my amp's gonna need a heater
Great stuff... Think I'm going to subject you all to a bit of slap this month! Anyway where is Agwin's noodle, this thread has been up for 24 hours already?
  4. Great stuff I love getting out there gigging really missing it at the moment...

  6.
And the winner is... CamdenRob..! Well done, sir. Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
Thanks dad... I've printed it off and put it on the fridge
  7. Wow thanks guys... I'm honoured... Looking forward to next months bowl of noodles
  8.
Here you go. This is a scan of the underside, so you get the plate at its widest. (It's a 3 ply black/white black one so scanned the other way round you'd get the bevel and the white stripe). I've put a JPG and a PDF on. Not sure which one will make it easiest to view it at 100%. (Actually, the PDF seems to attach oddly, so you may need to use the JPG). Let me know how you get on. I'l be interested to know if it fits the L2000 as well. BTW I'll likely be feeling my M2000 with this plate on it soon if anyone fancies it, as I'm buying a USA G&L. It's a lovely M2000 - I have a John East U Retro Deluxe in it and Hipshot Ultralites too. Sounds fantastic.
Great stuff, you're a Gentleman I'll print it off at work on Monday and check. Thank you kindly.
  9. Wow... Very tempted by the sunburst version of this. Glad it all arrived OK in the end
  10. I think they are just so much more expensive now that this reduces the amount of people in a position to buy one... Especially with the really early stuff. Although an original stack knob may well be worth £20k, how many people that would want it actually have that kind of money to spend on a bass... very few I'd assume.
  11.
Yeah, mine's a Tribute so I decided to just go for it. I'll get onto it tonight hopefully. Feel free to nag me if I don't get to it in the next few days.
No desperate rush, it will be much appreciated
  12.
Chris just cut it and screwed it on. I guess if you didn't want to make holes in the bass you could just attach it with double sided tape. if you do decide to get one let me know and I'll pass mine back to Chris to copy. That'll make it easier than starting from scratch. Same as L2000? I'd assume so. I don't have one here to check though. What I might do is take this one off, scan it, then you could print one out actual size, cut it out and see if it fits.
if you can be bothered, I'd very much appreciate a scan I can check the dims against my L2000. I'll just screw it into the body, It's not a mega expensive bass and i think it would look a bit odd without screws in it I would like someone to do a matching black headstock on it, but I think that might be a bit excessive... and probably rather expensive
  13.
The one with the blocks and binding? That was lush! Well done! Now if someone would just buy my Geddy Lee?
Yes indeed, it should be arriving tomorrow as the seller was very accommodating by shipping it out to arrive on a weekend Got a couple of cheapie ebay pickguards arriving (White and Black) to see which I prefer before getting a decent one Not had a jazz with 60s spacing before so looking forward to giving it a blast tomorrow
  14.
Errrhhhh I need photos!!!!!! All my Jazz Basses are sunburst but I really want an OW one now!
No photos until a replacement pickguard arrives... tort is only acceptable on sunburst I've come to realize I am as much a collector / trader of bass gear as I am a bass player... I get just as much enjoyment out of changing my gear around / trying new stuff as I do from playing in bands
  15.
I obviously don't need four Jazz Basses but...
ah there's no need to justify it I just bought that White MIJ 66 from the marketplace and I definitely didn't need it ... wanted it though!
  16.
Chris McIntyre, in Edinburgh. He made it by hand, based on the same pic as shown above. http://www.mcintyreguitars.com. I know some G&L owners think putting a plate on the L/M2000s is heresy but I think it makes them look better!
Thanks for that I'll drop him a line... How did you fit it? just drill a little hole then drive the screws in? Anyone know if the L2000 / M2000 dimensions would be the same?
  17.
I typically have the pickups 0% or 100% but I know what you mean. I've been thinking about maybe trying a set of these Aguilar hum cancelling pickups out. http://www.aguilaram...ckups_AGJHC.htm
Presumably not in the 64
  18.
I had this made for me recently, based on that design. What do you think?
Who made that for you? I have a Black L2000 and think a a white pickguard would look cool
  19. In the early 90s I was still at school, so the only money I had for gear was from my Saturday job (£20 a week doesn't go far when you also have weed to buy)... I had a carlsbro viper 100, a H&H bass baby and a TE commando at various points... each of these amps was universally sh*t in every imaginable way... underpowered and weedy sounding.
  20. That really is an astonishing price for a beautiful and unique instrument... I know you'd prefer a buyer, but have a bump instead
  21. I love all basses ... Well except Rics obviously.
  22. No but I've bought a few good ones that turned out to be lemons... :-|
  23. White jazz bass with a matched headstock...
