It really sticks out to me listening, not just to these two, but all the noodles how much expression you can put into playing the bass... It's really noticeable with isolated tracks like this, how different people mute between the notes, play passing notes, grace notes, vary their attack etc. Asides from note choice, playing in time, hitting the groove etc... I really enjoy hearing the little subtle nuances different players use that can make a good bassline sound great I doubt any of us even think about it, it's just the natural variation in our playing styles that makes us sound different as bass players...
Sorry, can't keep up this pretence any longer... I'll be in a W-reg Toyota Corolla GLS and, as I will have had baked beans for breakfast (straight out of the tin) I'll be blowing off in my dirty trousers. Still, we'll have a good time - I'll bring a 4-pack of Special Brew.
Alright fair enough, I'll let the valet know your coming...
I'm planning on quickly recording something tonight! More funky shiz from me this month, most likely. I've also been trying to learn Teen Town, but I'm not up to speed with it yet.
Great stuff... funky shiz this month and Teen Town the next then
Ooh no, way too showy in these times of austerity... I only use mine at night. Don't forget, 'we're all in this together'...
Quite right... I've just sacked my pilot in a show of solidarity with the commoners. I assume they can no longer afford pilots for their helicopters in these tough times, so I expect they will appreciate the gesture and continue to see me as a man of the people... His contract expires at midday on Sunday, so I'll get him to fly me over as his last job and I'll fly us back... how hard can it be?

Look at that Bet that's damn parpy with the pickup positioned there... Great score Bet it feels worth the wait now...

Any last minute noodles? It actually takes less time to enter this competition than it does to make a pot noodle....
Ooh well, that's a possibility... I'll make sure there's a limo available just in case...
Don't worry about that, let me know if you're free and I'll send the helicopter...
Thanks very much for the offer, but Sunday is the one day I work on my income streams... this allows me to spend every other hour of the week on BassChat, so you can see my problem...
no worries... it's happening at 1pm if you've made your millions by lunchtime and find yourself with the afternoon off...

I'm so choosy about my projects that I don't currently have one... ...might be something in that

Huge number of options in that price range... Get yourself down to Bass Direct as planned and play everything you like the look of... and then everything you don't like the look of just in case
Been doing a bit of reading about these, very interesting... though to be honest I too am not 100% convinced about the headstock. Though I'm sure that would improve with use...
Yes it does look a little odd next to my Peterbuilt (which has an Allparts neck, so Fender shaped headstock). I think it's just a matter of getting used to it , The headstock looks massive in that photo but its much more inkeeping with the rest of the bass in reality. Trying to sort out a date (possibly Sunday) with another BCer for him to come over and have a noodle on the Moollon as he's interested in ordering one, you'd be more than welcome to pop over the river for an hour and check it out for yourself if you're around We can all discuss the aesthetics of headstock design over a cup of tea and wonder how it is our lives have come to this...
Lovely looking bass. I really dig the colour. I actually like the headstock too (and your scatter cushions, for that matter).
Interior design and soft furnishings are Mrs Cs department... left to my own devices my house would look like KB's with basses all over the walls
Is this the one you used for this month's Noodle Bar? (just checked - it is! Obviously you knew that). Sounds very nice too.
The very same... I've mostly been playing it with a pick as I've been trying to develop my technique a bit after watching a Bobby Vega video... I've loving the tone when palm muting with the tone rolled off to about a quarter turn from the bass side.
can't see the point , that's not good, does someone introduce you over the PA at the same time? it has happened to us but only in a shambolic way, (by accident)
Yes we all have our own music and costumes etc. I wear a cape and fangs and come on to the monster mash throwing out plastic bats etc into the crowd... goes down a treat at the dog and duck.

Truly awful company name though

Which version of the blue rock do you have? There are two, one can run at 2.7 ohms and one only goes down to 4 ohms... I can't imagine why either version of that head wouldn't be loud enough through 2x 212s though I have the blue soul which has a slightly lower power rating at 4 ohms and it's very very loud running through a single 210... something strange afoot methinks...

We all have an individual walk-on like on the darts...
As tempting as that is, I find the coated DR strings always feel quite sticky to me.
I had a red set for bass a while back that we're OK, not too sticky and sounded fairly bright for a reasonable amount of time... I did try a neon yellow set on guitar once though and they were truly awful.
-
Great looking pair of basses there... could cover just about any playing situation with those two! Thought about a couple of set of these?
I'm surprised that the suggestion of a Pentabuzz hasn't recieved comment!
I have to admit to this being a bass I know absolutely nothing about... ... looks great from a bit of googling though, very round.
Splendid ! These headstocks are gorgeous. It is not easy to succeed in creating a different headstock without copying the original (but in the same spirit).
I must admit that the headstock shape is the only thing about the bass I am unsure about... I don't dislike it by any means, but I think I'm just conditioned to wanting to see Fender shape headstocks on Fender shaped instruments!

I get a weird anti-GAS feeling when I've fallen out of love with a bass / amp etc... I can't have it around me anymore and end up selling it for a fraction of the cost, like I can't bare to own it anymore... I have issues
-
Bands, especially originals bands are really a case of how much your prepared to compromise to make it work... If every member sticks rigidly to what they want then the band will never work. I am a case in point as as I absolutely refuse to be told what to play under any circumstances... hence I am currently bandless
Very nice Rob. Puts me in mind of 60s soundtrack type vibe. Nice playing too!
Sorry I missed this comment... Thanks for giving it a listen I'm tempted to do it again at a less frantic tempo but have decided that a noodle is a noodle and as it is it shall forever be... or something.
Noodle
Sounds like bouncy skate punk to me... Missed your calling in the 90s with riffs like that, you'd have had kerrang Tv on the phone... Nice groove though and you didn't even need the additional 3 seconds really as they are silent... Unless that's a deliberate dramatic pause, in which case I apologise.
