1.
I can't imagine any builder building a bass without sound/playability as a major factor. I use many fancy woods but I don't see how that means that playability/sound is not taken in to account. You seem to be equating plain with playable not sure I can agree with that. Every builder I know is on a constant quest to improve all aspects of their instruments Mr Stenbeck is in no way the exception in that respect maybe his marketing is better than most, in which case well done to him.
I have to agree with this... Just because attention has been paid to the appearance doesn't mean sound and playability have been ignored. If anything I'd be inclined to think that a bass which has clearly had time and attention spent on it's appearance would also have had the same level of care gone into the other aspects of the build.
 2.
https://soundcloud.com/user5139486/upon-waking
Good stuff and welcome to the noodle comp... I think that would be great as the basis for some other loops on top. Could get a little baseline going and melody too. It sounds a bit like a film intro where they do that first sweeping scene of wherever it is set. No worries about the length... As my driving instructor used to say "it's a limit not a target"
 3. Went for the hall of fame (full version). Very pleased. Lots of choice and very subtle / easy to use
 4.
Will totally post 1000x pictures. Just trying to figure how to get the baby home!
Looking forward to the pics and nbd thread be very interested in some audio clips if you get the chance. Fancy the sunburst myself...
 5. Bump! Go on... Buy a massive metal guitar stack... Its a wholly practical purchase for the discerning bass player.
 6. Looks awesome... Always been tempted by these, very Wal esq but with a modern twist.
 7.
I ordered a Monarch Standard Classic back in December - and just got an email from them that it is complete and ready to ship. I really hope it is as awesome as I hoped. I ended up selling 4 basses and a drumkit to fund it - but as I can only play one bass at once, it might as well be a nice one. As for whether it is worth it - hey you only live once so why not have some fun. People are happy to spend £4k on a car (or £40k or £400k), so why not on a bass? How many people bought a BMW when a Kia would have done 90% of the same things?
That's what I'd get if I was to order a fodera... What colour did you go for?
 8.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xVR6JRvGnS4
I really like that... When you get going into that groove after the initial flurry it really bounces. Great feel to it and jolly too... Everyone tends to go for moody and melancholic, but that's outright cheerful great technique catching and muting the little phrases as well.
 9. My phone doesn't seem to want to let me quote more than one post in each reply... Oh well I'll just do them separately.
https://soundcloud.com/xgsjx/ramin
That's a proper widdle that is... Truly in the spirit of things. I quite like the idea, next month of not preparing anything and just pressing play for a minute and seeing what comes out...
 10.
https://soundcloud.com/leonard-smalls/flatricenoodle
Like the little repeating melody on that... It's like a mini jazz tune, doing the melody then a little noodle then back to the melody again, full tune in a minute sounds damn growly as well... Great tone.
 11.
I keep drooling over the 1969 P bass on their site, the black 'roadworn' effort, stunning!
Don't bother inquiring about it though he'll tell you Fenders are crap and you should buy a Roscoe instead...
 12. Sold my B1onX to Jas. Instant payment, good comms Couldn't have been easier
 13. Thanks chaps I shall investigate the Mr Black Eterna... although at first glance it looks like a bit of a specialist effect? I'm just wanting regular subtle reverb...
I've not personally tried it on bass, but for the money and the generally great reception it gets, the Hall Of Fame mini (or the full version) could be worth a go?
The full version of that looks just the ticket...
 14. I've always wanted one of these so I could be like this guy...
 15.
Didn't Alembic produce something in the 90s as an anniversary model with a list around $30k?
Their current price list has something called a "Classico Deluxe" which starts at $34,000 before you've added any options...
 16. Conversely though I absolutely definitely would buy this...
 17.
I rather like it.
Go on treat yourself
 18.
I'm not an expert in the field but this caught my eye when browsing earlier... worth investigating on bass as it sounds good on guitar... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frvFUrrffDw
Yeah that looks pretty good... probably a few too many options on there for me, but that's the sort of thing I'm after.
 19.
I like the body wood/finish, but the rest of it is unnecessarily tart's-handbag and as a result the whole thing just looks tacky.
+1
 20. Hi Guys, Looking for some advice on a reverb pedal for bass... I'll be using it under some chordal loops (high register on a six string so well into guitar territory) and not for fretless noodling.... Nothing too fancy with a million options, just something simple to add a bit of ambiance. What are my options? .. must run on batteries.
 21. G&L L2000 Tribute... I had one... It was great; versatile, punchy, active / passive switchable, nice P neck. No idea why I sold it really in fact I've just bought another one which will hopefully be with me at the weekend
 22.
which really brought home how fragile we are. This guy obviously never considered it, but knocking someone to the floor could cause brain damage or even death, as could a punch from his swinging arms.
The law of sod dictates that this numpty will arm swing his way through gigs for his entire life without ever causing anyone any damage... where as the one time I push him away when he tries to grab me, he'll fall over hit his head, die and I'll end up spending 30 years at her majesty's pleasure...
 23.
Love it! Needs green pickups though.
I very very nearly went for green... I bought the little coloured switch tips in yellow, red and green before i decided on the pick up colour.
 24.
https://soundcloud.c...a-fied/noodle-2
Lovely... very summery

Tarantino esq... is that the new jazz?
https://soundcloud.c...basschat-doodle

https://soundcloud.c...oodle-1/s-VSGmO
I have to be honest, I had to check I hadn't played the same track twice with these two! Nice harmonic based stuff, good clean playing too, notes ringing out clear and true Hearing the similarity reminds me we should have had some sort of theme for these noodles each month, something to judge them against each other a bit easier... harmonics, chords, pick playing, slap etc.
