Someone commissioned a gold & precious stone encrusted Ritter a while back that was offered for sale for $250,000 http://www.musicrada...ive-bass-167426
I like Ritters but that's pretty awful....
I dislike bassists whose opening line is -" oh youve only got a squire".
I wouldn't worry about people like this... Anyone who says something similar is clearly a nob and you can safely ignore any opinions they might have...

Mark's Diaries: The journey of becoming a pro player

It's cool I'll read it on the wordpress site, something to look forward too -
Following on from my Mesa Stack sale, I'm not really intending on playing in any serious metal bands for a while so this is also up for sale... 7 String Metal Monster... £350 It's a Schecter C7 body and neck. I have removed the control knobs / electronics (who needs that for metal anyway) and replaced them with a pickup selector and on / off switch (its actually a 3 way switch with two ways in the off position and one in the on. Pickups are Bareknuckle Painkillers (matched set) and I have also added a set of Schaller straplocks. Great condition and it sounds absolutely enormous... High gain, clear, deep and clean, perfect for Metalcore etc. Pickup only from Camden NW1, I do not have a case / gigbag for it unfortunately. Strung up with Elixers, which are awesome for guitar IMO... I do have a brand new set of neon yellow DRs you can have with it if you like but I would advise against it as they are truly awful... sound like elastic bands . Cat not included... Although he does approve of it. It's his favorite and apparently smells the best... If you're into that sort of thing.

OK... Having come to the realization that I am too fat, bald and old to play the music of my youth without looking like a right ninny... and also loving the deluxe big muff, which eliminates the need for biamping in my new project. I am putting this up for sale to clear some space in our front room, much to Mrs C's delight... well until she finds out i intend on replacing it with more bass gear anyway. This is the ultimate portable metal stack... £900 Collection only from Camden NW1 , cash on collection or bank transfer. Mesa Mini Rectifier 25 Amp 2x Straight Mesa Mini Rectifier Cabs Nigh on mint Mesa stack, cabs have never left the house. Mesa covers for both cabs and carry case for the amp. Only damage is some of the outer cable sheath has slipped down a half inch or so on the footswitch cable. Sale also includes an unopened pair of Mesa branded EL84 power tubes and a pair of spare unopened 12AX7 preamp tubes, again Mesa branded. Also included is a pair of high quality speaker cables (OBBM). This stack includes everything you would need for a fully portable metal rig. It is awesomely loud, with a massive heavy sound, in a package you can actually transport around. I have been just carrying the amp around with my guitar to use with rehearsal room / venue cabs and it's easy enough to get around on the tube no hassle. Specs from Mesa All metal black powder coat chassis with iconic diamond plate. 2x EL-84 Power Tubes. 5x 12AX7 Preamp Tubes. MESA's Dyna-Watt™ technology give 10 watt or 25 watt switchable power levels. Both power levels operate as true 'Class A/B' - there are no half measures in this amp. Fully bypass-able effects loop Single button (channel 1/2) footswitch As with all Boogies, bias for valves is fixed which means replacing valves does not mean a trip to an engineer. Dimensions: 12 5/8" (w) x 6 3/4" (d) x 5 7/8" (h) Weight: 5.5kg Includes padded gig bag. Hand build exclusively in Petaluma, California. Cab Specs Dimensions: 18" (w) x11" (d) x19 3/4" (h). Loaded with a Celestion 12" Vintage 30 speaker. Sorry for the crap pic... I will take some more tonight.
1. There were almost twice as many exhibitors this year than last year. We counted the lists on the last two shows brochures.
ah fair enough then. I must admit I wasn't there so am only going on the info in this thread where it has been mentioned there were even fewer exhibitors than last year (when I was there and it was a poor showing).
2. A huge trade show would by definition exclude 'normal' people and only allow companies there. Is that what the majority of us wants?
yes sorry I've used the wrong terminology... I don't mean a trade show where only companies can attend, that wouldn't be of any interest at all. I just mean a hall full of manufacturers stands where you can try / buy the latest gear.
3. Disappointed by the number of exhibitors? Make the show more attractive to companies by bringing your credit card and buying stuff. Most exhibitors had special show prices for all their goods.
I can't really justify buying stuff I don't want to encourage more manufacturers to attend so I can buy stuff next year I do want... Sorry I don't mean to pull it all apart, I know you and others put a lot into the day and also get a lot out of it. The show just doesn't really appeal to me in its current format. It's not a problem for the show though... tickets sell well and they should continue to put something on that appeals to the majority (more player / seminar focused)... I would if it was my show.... give the people what they want!

What happened with Omater Mark? I met up with her about six months before you did for a coffee and a chat about playing bass for her. It would never have worked we were polar opposites in how we approach music and songwriting, but she was very dedicated to what she wanted to achieve. She could sing as well so I wouldn't be surprised if she did end up making something of it. -
I heard discussions around people saying "they'd left their credit cards at home on purpose...". OK, so maybe they'll buy online later from home, but its hardly surprising then that the number of trade stands has dropped... just sayin'...
I think its just a different focus for the show. They have obviously worked out that more people want to go to a show where they can see / meet a bunch of name players doing a little gig / masterclass etc, than people who want to go and check out all the latest gear. It's no big deal, I'm sure it's a commercial decision to focus on that side of things. I just meant that personally for me I have no interest in that sort of thing and would love to see a huge trade show with all the major manufacturers there with their latest gear to show off. ... that sort of show would likely have more people bringing their credit cards.
Did anyone think the exhibitors were a bit thin on the ground? There seemed to be loads more the last time I was there.
This is a bit disappointing to hear... Not that I'd want to put a downer on anyones day it sounds like a great time was had by all. But I'm only really interested in the trade stands, not really bothered about talks / masterclasses etc.

It's always nice to have the original case / candy etc but I don't think it really has an influence on the price... I do wonder how they get separated though? Having said that, I do not have the original branded case for my new build Wal I received last year. I sold it with another Wal as I had a full flightcase from a previous purchase which I preferred.

I have hundreds of picks... Being a bloke, if you have an interest in anything then people buy you tat related to that interest every single birthday / Christmas... as normal people have no idea whatsoever what a bass guitar is, family etc all assume I play regular guitar so I get mugs, picks etc depicting strats, les pauls etc. In fact my coffee coaster in front of me here at work was given to me last Christmas. ... those are not bass guitars

Essentially everything that isn't on my dislike list... I like all sorts of basses from traditional fender designs, through coffee table multi stringed basses, through status / modulus type instruments... I even like those far out Ritter designs. There is so much variety out there that I love about basses and a much shorter list of things I don't like. Pushed to name a feature I really love though I'd have to go for Multi-Coil pickups
