1.
I'm currently using a Rumble Combo (which is great!) and fettling a Harley Benton P Bass (NBD pending). So there it is.
Confucius he say... He who soundeth great and hath not GAS whilst rocking a HB P and Fender Rumble, hath achieved bass enlightenment.
 2.
No need to mention equipment except, yes.. I have a bass... yes.. I have an amp.
This is a good shout.
 3. ah you'll be fine Just meet up and have a chat, no biggie if it doesn't work out, just try someone else
 4. To be honest I'm not overly bothered about which road it is... any road would do so long as there is a decent hedge to dump me in... doesn't even have to be a motorway, any old nondescript B road would do. I've also decided that before I am fly tipped in a hedge I'd like a brief funeral with a series of short eulogies read by people I'd only briefly had contact with... "Rob seemed alright... I once stood behind him in the queue in Greggs" "I once sat next to Rob on the 6.47 to London Marlyebone... he's quite fat and took up half my seat" "Rob was trying a P bass in Wunjos when I popped in to buy some strings one time... he was s**t" that sort of thing...
 5.
Never! I can help you. Send my your Wals, your Glock and your Berg and in return I will show you how gear Nirvana can be achieved with only a Harley Benton P Bass and a Fender Rumble 100 Combo... the solution to your problem is within yourself!!
It's ridiculous really isn't it... the bare truth of it is that a HB P and rumble combo would suffice for just about everything I do
 6.
I think you'll find that's part of it.
... I'm beyond redemption.
 7. Back from the brink... a narrow escape by the sounds of things I only really have GAS for stuff I've already ordered and I'm waiting to be built at the moment. ...oh and also for that white 62 AVRI Jazz in the marketplace
 8.
Did you do a nbd thread would like to see more, I think the colour is fantastic. A few people have asked about the Acg I traded for a Jim fleeting custom, has a east pre in it that's much easier for me to use and if I'm honest I hated the very asymmetric neck on the Acg, while pivoting the thumb in various positions it didn't feel right going from thin to fat depth. A quality bass though, looked great. Disappointed about having to let it go.
I was tempted by that Jim Fleeting custom myself, looked like something a bit different ... be interested to hear how you get on with it.
 9.
@CamdenRob I just checked flights to Denmark Rob, Ryanair are £20 return London to Copenhagen. Damn sight cheaper than a courier.
Yes the guy did say he would fly over and collect it because I had said collection only... but then I felt guilty about him coming all that way and offered to ship it
 10. I may possibly be shipping a bass to Denmark in the near future and I was going to go with UPS as they appear to be the only ones that offer comprehensive insurance? ... It's going to be expensive but I need total insurance cover.
 11.
I'm loving that bass!
It's my new Peterbuilt fretless Jazz... very pleased with it although it is very very yellow... Out of interest, what did you trade your ACG for?
 12. I really need to polish up the frets on my Wal. I've only had it a year and the frets look like it's been gigged for decades... They look brass to me, what should I be using to give them a bit of a clean up?
 13. Things were definitely different with the original instruments to start with but whether that is better or not is subjective... I've just ordered a Moollon Classic P which is supposedly built to pre-CBS specs, pickup impedance etc.. even down to the zinc content of the tuners I shall report if it's any better than the excellent modern P basses I have played. I heard something about early Wal pickups being would with imperial gauge wire or something similar? This is apparently no longer available and allegedly has a effect on the sound. As for a bass getting better with age, as others have said a bass definitely wears... whether that makes it better or not again is subjective. Several manufacturers make quite a lot of artificial aging so presumably there is something in it. Beyond the aesthetic, don't Sandberg offer a service where they will vibrate your new bass for a period of time to simulate it having been played for years? anyone know if this makes any difference?
 14. Just checking mine still works... Seems OK but if the functionality for direct linking disappears then Photobucket is useless to me and i'll have to use something else...
 15. I saw an advert on gumtree last week for a bass player and the ad said that you'd didn't have to be any good or own a bass, the most important thing was that you could bring people to gigs...
 16. Sounds like the natural evolution of the Glockenklang class D line If my blue soul we're to die / get nicked this is what I'd be buying to replace it Did it come with one of their fancy power chords?
 17.
So strictly speaking, surely this is an 'electric bass'..?
Yes that's true... Any idea when the EUB was invented / came into popular usage? If it was before the bass guitar I wonder why it isn't the more popular instrument now? Obviously the bass guitar being guitar shaped helps with moving around on stage etc too. It's just a more convenient package for an instrument to play bass lines on.
 18.
I sold a G&L Tribute L2500 thinking they were pretty common and easy to replace, I have never found one as good as the one I sold. I have tried an American one that was as good, but over twice the price.
I sold a L2000 tribute a while back and I kinda wish I hadn't... It was a great bass and I could do with an active fretted four. Lots of bass for the money.
 19. Yeah we do this every six months or so... although I can't remember the outcome so perhaps we're due another run at it
 20.
Toll or non-toll?
oh the non-toll bit... I don't want to be elitist about it
 21.
I want the birdie song playing, what does that say about me? Mind you I also want the coffin to have a spring in it that gets set off part-way through the funeral so it looks like I've sprung back from the dead for a minute.
I don't want a funeral... I want to be fly tipped in a hedge down the side of the M6...
 22.
People who describe themselves as 'zany' and 'kooky' inevitably are not - in fact they're usually very straight people who think that calling themselves 'a bit mad' will make them more interesting. It does not...
This is true... similarly anyone who has "My Way" at their funeral invariably spent 40 years working for the tax office, had zero interests or hobbies and spent their evenings / weekends watching BBC approved light entertainment...
 23.
Also see: Sofas and arses.
Sofas and arses get better when they get older?
 24. I have the tc polytune clip on... it's great. So much so that it's now my only tuner.
 25.
I have a fair few basses two of which I have never used and need a cull to make room for one I'm just about to buy. My Musicman Reflex in white HH 4 string MN has been kept in case since new and the range has been discontinued so I'm thinking do I sell it now or keep as an investment for a couple of yrs time?
I think you'll have to keep it in a case for a very long time for it to reach a value higher than what you paid for it if you're looking for an investment? There is no guarantee it will be the same for MMs, but if it were a Fender you'd need to keep it for around 30 years to start seeing a return on it.
