This but with a black pickguard...

This is miles better than actually doing work whilst I'm at work, which is the alternative...
EDIT: What Electronics do you have? I thought my old one has Bartolinis.
This one has Delano pups but it does have a very Bart like sound... Clean but not EMG clean sort of tone.

Picked this up in a trade on Saturday, I've not owned a Marleaux so thought i'd give this one a whirl. On the side of my Wals, which I use for everything, I've been trading basses around just to see what else is out there and keep abreast of what's going on outside my one eyed world of Wal... This bass is everything a luthier built bass should be. It is comfortable to play, wonderfully balanced and the tone is warm and versatile thanks to an active 3 band eq and the option to switch it to passive. This particular example has a fetching Pear top which I haven't seen on a bass before and contrasts beautifully with the ebony fretboard. The intention is to keep trading basses around, but I'm very fond already of this one and am happy to give it a home for a while

No not really, I hardly listen to music at all outside of the bands I play in.

Is there a good overall look at the bass stuff to check out on YouTube anywhere?

Mesa Boogie Subway D800 vs Gallien Krueger MB 800
CamdenRob replied to john longo's topic in Amps and Cabs
It's very difficult to say which is better for an individual player... They are both great amps but very different. The Mesa is essentially a lightweight replication of the SVT tone, where as the GK will sound like a GK... Modern, deep and bright. They will both do a fair approximation of each other as well with some eq shaping, but the core tone (and intended market) for these amps are at opposite ends of the spectrum really. I have absolutely no experience of amplifying a BD so others will be better placed to advise, but for electric bass if you were looking for a slap tone, GK would be my first choice -
Some gorgeous examples in there
Go to UPS's website - you can set yourself as a user (I think it's called UPS Choice) and opt to have parcels delivered to one of their collection points if you're not there to take delivery. Here you go: https://www.ups.com/content/gb/en/tracking/ups_mychoice.html I selected a local corner shop which is open till 9.30, so far I've had four parcels via them.
No I've been trying that, no collection point option, no weekend delivery option. I did manage to contact them yesterday and they said they would have it delivered to a local depot. Although I've not had a card or anything so don't think they have actually tried to deliver it at all yet, despite what the tracking says... It is apparently now back in dartford again. Traveling half way up the country to collect a different bass myself this morning, this is how I will be doing it from now on. Couriers are just not worth he hassle IME.

Many moons ago I played in a band where the guitar used this tuning, I just tuned a five string up half a step to C. If you start drop tuning then all your scale patterns fall out. ... As a side note I hate drop tuning on guitars, in my metal band (where I play guitar) I just play in straight B. it's really not that difficult to play chords properly, and I should know because I can do it and I'm a terrible guitarist who can't hold a pick properly...

tempted by this... Vester Jazz-alike for £70
CamdenRob replied to alyctes's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I remember them doing Warwick copies in the late 90s.... I never played one but they looked almost identical. -
I must admit they don't really jump out at me... As others have said, I guess they are trying to catch a bit of the "anything and everything Fender shaped" thing that has been going on for these last few years.
There's a Rock Bass version on it's way in Feb too...much more reasonable for €1,058.71. Second hand it would be a good buy I think. Adam Clayton – Artist Line http://shop.warwick....20FR#fromSearch
That looks a little more reasonable. I could never bring myself to buy a signature bass but I still think it looks the business
Also on the 'quite expensive P bass' list must also be this from Warwick, retailing at a mere €5,697.45. Does look pretty cool though to be fair although YMMV of course. I have UPS delivering a bass today, I'm not in so can't sign for it. The only option I have on their website is to collect the bass from Dartford... not very useful as I live in North London.
