1.
...with a guitarist who turns down the bass on his amp to leave space for me.
He's a keeper...
2. Went for a little Focusrite one in the end... shipped with a stripped down version of Audacity I understand. ... now I suppoed I'd better get him some decent headphones as well.
3. It's difficult isn't it, but it really does come down to deciding if you can put up with it or not. People are unlikely to change their opinions and arguing with them just flares up the ego and makes it even less likely they will change. I'd just leave... But if you really like the band then you'll have to put up with it. It's about finding a band where everyones idea of what their instruments should sound like works together. If someone told me to change my bass tone away from one I though sounded better I wouldn't, and if they insisted then I'd leave and they can find someone else who sounds the way they want. The last thing you want is to be performing in front of people with a sound you think is s**t...
4. Welcome back to the bass I did the same (although i was never semi-pro) and took many years out to build a career etc... then came back to it with avengeance a couple of years back Be careful hanging around BC though, you'll end up spening a fortune on gear you didn't even know existed... G&L tributes are ridiculous value from Thomann
5. Anyway what's this doing in the review section?
6. I can't hear any drop off in quality between my modern neo ones and cabs of old... In fact I find them far louder and better sounding along with being smaller / lighter. Whenever I have to use an old school cab that has been provided as backline I'm always disapointed and would much rather use my berg.
7. I've never used a mic for recording, I've always just gone DI. Is it cause you guys are getting a chunk of your desired tone from your amp / cab set up?
8. To be fair, my experience of these is limited to a single use in a rehearsal studio and judging by the state of their other gear I suspect it hadn't had the best life prior to my unfortunate encounter with it... ... It was loud enough, just seriously honky.
9. Thanks guys Sounds like Bandcamp is the answer... I think the more technical minded band members are sorting something out for that anyway
10.
We haven't made much money from any of those (Bandcamp is best in that respect) but it allows people to find our music more easily, and frankly that's what we're more interested in not the actual cash.
Yes thats our aim too. Thanks for all that I think they are planning on doing the bandcamp thing anyway, I was just wanting to explore other options.
11. Looking into it a bit and Itunes looks pretty complicated ISRCs and UPSc, US Tax IDs etc Maybe soundcloud is the way to go afterall... How are you guys getting your music out there?
12. Morning all, More advice needed from the learned BC collective... One of my bands has recorded a few demo tracks and I'm lookiing to get them up on Itunes as a free download. Also maybe on spotify? however that works? Is this easy to do? How would I go about it? Cheers Rob
13. I do like the look of the White one... How tight is the string spacing?
14.
Any 'I'm Leaving Basschat' thread...
Yes those are always amongst my favourites too.
15.
i think to be honest before this gets to far, you had to be there or you don't understand

"aimlessly noodling"
it seems you've already said both of the things I came here to say...
16. Surely the finding of the waistcoat guy trumps everything?
17. I have my gear covered as specified items (with a replacement value) on my house insurance, with special dispensation to use them for "Professional Use" for the rare occassion I receive any money for a gig... They are supposedly covered when away from the home, against theft, accidental damage etc but I guess I'll only know how covered they actually are if it comes down to making a claim.
18. I know nothing about the theory but I had the misfortune of playing through one recently and it was truly awful...
19. I quite like his bass playing / songwriting. He wrote proper basslines bridging the gap between the rhythm and the chords, tying it all together with a little flourish when appropriate... ... I cannot forgive him for mull of kintyre though.
20. I put a set of those fender flats with the green silks on a bass once ages ago and you could have shot arrows with the bass afterwards Action went to about an inch off the fretboard.
21.
Quite fancy 1 of these 2. IBANEZ SR1200 PREMIUM Or a CORT ARTISAN A4 CUSTOM SP
Ibanez really are making some attractive basses these days.... as are cort.
22. I haven't bought any albums in 2015
23.
Looks like a face on the front. Quite an amazing looking bass. Out of my price range though, unfortunately.
it's stunning isn't it... I keep coming back here and wondering if I can justify it in anyway
24.
Down to £20 at the minute! Great wee bit of kit.
Think I'll get a spare one...
25.
Its a lot of open and bar chords as well as some 5th chords. He tends to play bigger chords with a crunchy tone while our other guitar player does power chords with more drive. I kind of feel the seven string sounds like a lot of faf for what amounts to three extra notes over a standard guitar in drop d
ah he sounds like a proper guitarist as opposed to a hardcore metal chugger like me... I think you're right, the B string would just get in the way.
