ah man why are these always refins... Still on the look out for an all original
-
It looks superficial rather than impact damage? I'd be inclined to live with it and take the discount

Very lucky to be playing with an excellent drummer at the moment in my rock band... As you say though for some types of music it's not really required. I've done some gigs backing acoustic singer songwriter types and they sounded fine without a drummer

Is this the neo one? I had a 112 for a while and it sounded great

Gigging and the costs - what would you do in this situation?
CamdenRob replied to Naetharu's topic in General Discussion
It sounds like there is a bit of uncertainty as to the £40 loss... Is it definitely £40 or possibly £40 but worst case scenario loads more? I'd get that figure confirmed before signing up to anything. What if the promised 200 don't show up? -
Awesome cabs PCs...

"Boys Night Out" Is This The New Niche For Bands?
You're something of a rarity in this community in that you've made a life out of playing bass, whereas the majority of us here do so part-time, whether for extra income or just as a hobby.
Some of us are mostly in it for the drugs and women... -
yeah they're just kids aren't they... I will be amazed if this band ever gets anywhere near a rehearsal studio let alone writing a track... I bet their website / FB page will put anything my bands have ever done to shame though

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
This looks very nice. Maple board Jazz bass.
I'm sure I've done some gigs that would qualify.
I have been a part of some shockers over the years... I'm very glad no-one has seen fit to youtube some of the worst ones

You just haven't been here long enough... give it a couple more months and you'll wish you never knew what GAS was...

I'd be tempted to go if I lived in the area... a few nice examples in there. As you say some of the midrange stuff thats of no interest to collecters / resellers may go for peanuts

"Boys Night Out" Is This The New Niche For Bands?
CamdenRob replied to blue's topic in General Discussion
Lol, that sounds familiar I'm friendly but not very loud, plus I don't drink so whenever things get a little lairy I'm usually off to the dancefloor/music area
The dancefloor ...just thinking about having to dance makes me feel uneasy... nothing ends a night out for me quicker than the mention of a dancefloor... it inevitably leads to everyone I am with dancing, and therefore me being expected to dance, even though everyone I know knows I have never and will never dance. Why do people always assume that after a lifetime of refusing to dance this time will be different?
...I'm friendly but not very loud...
That separate room for the band in some cases really shows you what many punters think of live music. It can be the kiss of death anytime there is distance between the band and the bar. Blue
Yes it's terribly sad to see, whenever I'm in there I feel bad for the guys perfroming. I can underatand why the landlord has it set up that way though, it's a young crowd mostly <25 who are out for a chat with their mates and have no interest in live music. As a music fan I would always check out a band if they were on in a pub I was visiting... .. but then again that's mostly because i'm not very friendly and prefer listening to music than talking to people -
...and you do seem to be increasingly at risk of setting off the punters who just think that live music is a nuisance.
The Finsbury is a reasonable small venue near me, with a proper stage, PA and dedicated sound guy. They have live music most nights from a varity of generes to a decent standard. The music area is cordoned off from the rest of the pub by a sliding door which is kept closed to stop the music getting into the actual pub and annoying people. Average friday night, ten people or so watching the bands and a good hundred or so in the bar having a chat...
I just wish some of the acoustic-bangers would be a bit more adventurous - Ian Siegal, for example, is living proof that one man and a guitar can be incredibly engaging, so what's stopping so many of the others?
The reason the vanilla whinging strummer man bun brigade is so popular is that they are not engaging at all... and therefore can be easily ignored. -

The different available timbres for the same note are a useful tool to have in your arsenal as a bass player. I often play further up the neck on the B string rather than lower on the E to get a rounded fuller tone. When I want it a little clearer with added presence I'll play lower down on the higher strings. It's all part of finding your voice as a player. However.. if it's a massive issue, as others have suggested maybe its something gone awry in your setup somewhere.

Role of the bass player in a one-guitar band?
CamdenRob replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
My current band is just Vocals, One Guitar, Bass and Drums... the guitar parts are very sparse in places anyway. It's the best band I've ever played in, I have so much freedom to be melodic where needed and also hold the groove. -

Yes having lived with my Berg 210 for a while now I'm coming round the the school of thought that a single 210 is enough for my needs. Although I won't be gigging without PA support, and I suspect I'd need another if I was - But for rehearsals it's more than enough in a loud rock band and would cetrainly suffice as a monitor. Can't say the tone is more focused just using the one cab though? Maybe try just turning down a bit with the full rig, IMO the more speakers the better the overall feel to the sound.
