1. UPS for me... Although I find it ridiculous that I have to pay extra for insurance incase they are so incompetent that they manage to break the contents of my parcel, at least they offer said insurance.. unline some others.
2.
Just bought a Spector legend 5 which has high regard at your price range. Can't comment on its sound and play-ability as it hasn't arrived yet but I'll let you know at the end of the week. They are on bass direct at the minute for £699 which is the lowest I've seen new.
I had a spector legend sixer for a while and it was an excellent bass... great build, playability and tone. It's a whole lot of bass for the price, I'm sure you'll love it
3. It's funny the things that get through the design process sometimes... they must real world test this stuff surely? I have a mesa mini rectifier guitar head, which is an astonishing piece of kit in every way except it's one flaw... the chrome control knobs have a chrome indent... making them impossible to read from further away than an inch. A bit of colour in there and it would have been so simple to rectify.
4. I'm not sensitive about it... I just think it makes him look like a bit of a nob.
5.
The Focusrite 2i2 is less than £100 from Thomann, has 2 inputs and comes with Ableton Live 9 basic. There's very little latency and the mic pre-amps are of excellent quality...
Thanks Mr Smalls... Focusrite is a name I have heard of and I would likely have gone for something I recognise so good to know that's a goodun as well.
6.
I use one of these http://www.amazon.co...d/dp/B00CBU7EII Does the job and comes with a basic version of pro tools (although I use Reaper now). If I was to buy a cheap interface just now though I'd go with one of the Focusrite Scarlett solos. They seem to get great reviews.
That looks just what I'm looking for, thanks for that
7. Hi chaps, I'm sure there's a number of threads on this already but I'm just after a few suggestions. I'm looking to get my dad a USB recording interface that ships with some kind of simple recording software (for PC), so he can record his acoustic guitar and possibly vocals, maybe multi track stuff. Any suggestions around a £100?
8. Always liked the look of these... this one looks mint. GLWTS
9. I'm bias and can't really comment objectivly as I've never despised a band half as much as Rage and it colours my view on anything to do with any of the members... having said that, I hate all that macho posing with guns crap anyway.
10. Out of interest when was it defretted? Looks like a neat job.
11. Someone was looking for one of these in the wanted section. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/273265-wtd-wal-mk1/page__pid__2909202#entry2909202 Maybe send them a PM?
12.
Yes indeed it was. Lovely bass in every way.
I've not played one but they look fantastic.
13. I think it happenes if you try and list something without paying the fee..
14.
I'd say yes, having owned a few, but it's only marginally louder than a solid body.
Was it you that had the sandberg thinline? I've always liked the look of those...
15. Trevor I've got a set of brand new La Bella flats cut to fit my mk1 if you want them for nothing? I bought them as they have always been my default fretless strings, but when I put them on I didn't like them as much as the nickles so I switched them back. I'll pop them in the post if you pm me your address, I've no use for them and they might as well get some use
16. Wow... That looks fantastic.
17.
My first thought was that it looks soo 80s!...
1880s...
18.
If the statement is 'compression kills dynamics' then that's just wrong, unfortunately. If you're saying - no, I don't like it - absolutely fine!
Yes that's fair enough... To be honest, although I don't use compression at source I expect Mr FOH Soundguy compresses the hell out of my signal before it can reach any unsuspecting audience members.
19.
People who say 'no, I like to play with dynamics' either don't understand compression or have tried using it with a poor choice of settings...
or maybe we do understand it but just don't like it
20. Bass - Lead - Amp for me... in fact 90% of the time Bass - FOH... Happy if they want to use some out front etc. but as others have said I prefer having the control over my dynamics.
21. I tried to order a Glockenklang 210 off them a few months back... a week later (after I'd bought a berg CN210 elsewhere) I got an email back saying they couldn't deliver it to me on a Saturday... useless.
22. This thread is making me want to go for a curry tonight...
23. The PJB stuff looks a good shout for a home practice set up, looks quite small and manageable too.
24.
I'm biased but I do think Alan makes some of the best fretless basses available.
I'm not biased and I still think that...
