1. We did one of these a couple of months back... I have two currently; one fretted and one fretless
 2.
I'm impressed with it Rob. It certainly gives IPads and IPods etc. a boost. I've tried a little bit of recording my bass using it onto Audacity on the P.C. which worked well. When using it to play bass and listen via headphones, I've found that I have to back off the volume and gain and also keep the bass lowish, otherwise there is a little too much distortion. Be interesting to know whether things can be turned up more, if using the Phil Jones headphones.
Thanks for that, sounds positive then ... It looks very neat and tidy. I'm thinking of asking Mrs C for one with the Phil Jones headphones when the inevitable question of Christmas presents comes up a few months down the line.
 3. I'll trudge along as usual... Looking forward to seeing some of the new ACGs.
 4.
I just treated myself to a Phil Jones Headphone amp. Covers all the requirements that you listed.
I like the look of those, how does it sound?
 5. Anyone A/Bd this against a wizzy10? it's nearly half the price
 6.
Pulled the trigger on it last night and I've just had order confirmation on it, so fingers crossed...
Looks like a good shout to me... Someone else has a NBD thread up about one of these and it looks great value at full price.
 7. First time I've seen a progressive sixer go up... looks like a great deal for someone
 8.
Thanks for your suggestions CamdenRob. I haven't tried a Warwick Corvette. I must admit that Warwick are not really my thing but for testing narrow spacing it should do the trick.
I'm not sure if they have the exact model you're looking for but I popped in Wunjos on denmark street last weekend and they had a fairly extensive selection of ibanez basses: the new ones with the nordy pickups looked great. Maybe pop in there and give some a try?
 9. I bet if they were to go for a website based configurator ala sandberg with an option to click "build" at the end, at that price there would be a lot of takers....
 10.
Spice Girl tribute?
Not after the last time... and besides my Union Jack dress is a little tight these days.
 11.
It's stuck on. It came to me like that (I would've probably had it a little further south of the neck) but it works fine, when I use it.
I think i'd go that route if it was stable enough... no point damaging the top if it can be avoided. Beautiful bass anyway... It's the perfect bass purchase as it is sufficiently different enough to everything else available to justify the GAS!
 12.
Koa top - check Something rest thumb on -check
Thats the ticket! Is the thumb rest a permanent feature or is it stuck on in some way? What a lovely looking bass... better get saving!
 13.
Of course- everything has it's price, but this is more about a middle ground between "I need some cash" and "it's not for sale but for £50K it is yours"
Yeah that's fair enough
 14.
The basic idea being that you don't really want to sell it, but there is a certain price that you can't refuse.
This is true of everything surely, even stuff that isn't for sale... I never want to sell my Wal but if someone offered me £50k for it I obviously would.
 15. I don't have it any more unfortuately but have you tried a warwick corvette? I had a five string that sounded wonderful and had very very tight spacing at the bridge around 15mm at a guess.
 16. I have always thought these looked awesome... particularly the MB2 with the koa top. I would have to add something on there to rest my thumb on though! I would very much like to have one in the stable.
 17.
Going back to when we all started playing bet you 90% of us lusted after fender basses...
I actually had the opposite experience... When I first started playing the in mid 90s in death metal bands, I can't think of a brand I liked less that fender. They were regarded as old fashioned and mostly for dad rock pub bands. I was so embarrassed by my squier that I sanded the logo off the headstock. It's only in recent years that I've come to appreciate the solid simplicity of the fender designs, particularly the P bass with flats thing.
 18.
I paid £400 plus the pickups which I supplied (£80). So you could have nearly three of these for the cost of the Fender American linked above (they are about £1270 in the high street)
That's very tempting indeed... and you can spec any colour combo?
 19.
Wanabes,the inexperienced,and the unskilled.
I've been searching for a name for my new band... this will do just fine.
 20. So... how much was it?
 21. My amp doesn't make a whole lot of difference to be honest, I'm DI'd 95% of the time so its just a monitor really.
 22. A feeler is a way of saying... Honestly gov I don't want to sell it but I may do if you were to meet my over inflated asking price...
 23.
Thanks for posting those Sylvia (...erm, I think... ). Looking forward to reading your photo blog of the day.
Very much enjoyed your talk Trevor, it's like a walk through of your excellent website. Do you mind if I share the links with the Wal club on talkbass?
 24.
"...where one act will be crowned the UK’s Best Part-Time Band"
Yes it's not exactly a shining accolade is it....
 25. I don't appear to have done this thread... My basses fall into two catagories; The first lot when I was aged 13 to 20odd and the second lot in my 30s after taking up the bass again and joining BC. As a youngster: Squier P - awful bass... playing in death metal bands at the time and I was so embarrassed I sanded the logo of the headstock. Westfiled - Tanglewood looking thing. Was OK - infinitelty better than the squier P Status Energy 4 - played well but sounded a bit weak with j pups. Status Stealth II 5 - my main bass for several years of playing in metal bands until it got stolen... Then I gave up for ten years, came back to it and went through this lot in the last couple of years. Spector Legend 6 - great bass for the money, sounded a little plain but very good over all. Cort Curbow fretless 4 - dreadful... impossible to innotate properly, banana neck... slightly better than my first ever bass. G&L Tribute 4 - still miss this... great range of tones and very playable. Fender Jazz 50th anniversary - good solid passive fender... looked very fetching inh CAR with a matching headstock Tune 5 string fretless - couldn't quite put my finger on why i didn't like this, glad it's gone though. Fender 84 Jazz - old jazz... sounded a little tame for my tastes. Warwick Corvette 5 - zing and boom... strings to close together for me to play though. Fender 85 Jap P - a lovely bass... vintage frets and introduced me to the whole P bass with flats thing. Warwick Thumb NT 6 - wonderful sound but very odd balance, hung in a really weird place on the strap Wal MK3 Six Shedua 1995- my first Wal... made me realise that Wal basses are my perfect instrument... Sold everything else to pay for it and never looked back. Wal MK3 Six Ziricote 2015 - had this one made, well worth the 18 month wait and now my main bass. Wal Mk1 Fretless Violet Stained Sycamore 2014 - I intended to sell my original Wal sixer to pay for the one I had built, but when it arrived but I ended up trading the original one for this. I needed a fretless for some of my projects and IMO there is no better tone. So thats me... Since coming back I went through 9 basses in a year untuil I bought a Wal and I've played nothing but Wal basses in the year since. I GAS for other basses all the time but not in the sence that I want to play them, I would just like to have them! I am on the lookout for a four string fretted MK3 though for slappy tappy nonsence; either that or a Pro2e. I'm not having much luck though so may have to get one built!
