Pirate Rehearsal studio? Crystal Maze more like...
CamdenRob replied to EJWW's topic in General Discussion
Yes... Yes it would 😐 -
Worth bearing in mind (used to be the case anyway, I’m doing them a grave miss-service if it no longer is) that Limelight won’t be able to do you a proper finish. When I enquired a while back “light relic” was the best that could be offered.

It mainly works because most of us are too old to understand how to use the more popular social media platforms... 😐
-
Look at those beauties 😍
-
They’ve been up there with the best of them for a while now from what I read on here and elsewhere. Gear is not to my taste (not poor quality, just not my preference), but they really are the gold standard for service 🙂

I have never played a cover 😕
-
I don’t think there’s many people under 42 in bands these days anyway are there? 😕
-
More love for the Shergold from me 😍

I’m not really one for short scale but they certainly look the business 👍 Price is not surprising if they are fully built in the US. Costs money to make stuff in countries you have to pay people a reasonable wage.

Starting off on a song at the wrong tempo...
CamdenRob replied to missis sumner's topic in General Discussion
This irritates the hell out of me... hasn't happened recently as much as it did in my youth, but I find it exasperating... The thing that irks me most is not starting at the wrong tempo, but failing to realise something is at the wrong tempo and carrying on at the incorrect tempo... makes me cringe... Led me to wonder on a number of occasions if certain band members would notice if I was playing the wrong song 🙄 -
Which bass is best for metal... the eternal question 🤔
-
-
Silly name aside it looks the business though 👍
-
Stick... no twist... no actually stick... ah f**k it might as well buy another one just in case.
-
Not really my bag but each to their own and all that... I think I just don’t understand it. There are lots of things I don’t get musically that are widely admired. I always thought Miles Davis records sounded like someone dropping a trumpet down the stairs 😕 Don’t really get the point in being clever if it sounds s**t 😐

I had one of those in the early 2000s. It was perfectly serviceable and cost peanuts...

What would your signature instrument be?
CamdenRob replied to AngelDeVille's topic in General Discussion
My signature instrument would be whatever the manufacturer that offered me the most money says it should be... 😐 -
-
I just can’t bring myself to buy signature basses... Nothing wrong with them, the flaw is mine. I can’t abide the idea of it looking like I’m a fanboi of whoever the artist is. Like I want to sound or play like them... I don’t. I want to sound and play like me 😊 It’s ridiculous and is the only reason I don’t own a Yamaha TRBJP2 😐

No matter how many times I see this thread title I keep reading it as “How To Avoid Gig Bags” 😕
-
Love this... what a looker 😍

Not my bag, but as others have said above. It’s each to their own really Its one of a long list of things I find aesthetically unappealing on a bass. Along with; Gold Hardware, Fender type basses without pickguards, Ramps, PJ pickup configuration, Headless basses... The list goes on... I’m sure the kind of instruments I like would be anathema to others as well. Takes all sorts

Great basses L2000s. Had a couple of tributes myself and they were really good instruments. Selling anything is always a matter of price. If it’s priced 3/4 or even 2/3 of the price of a new one, you’re only going to get interest from people who want that specific bass (in that specific colour). When the price gets down to around 50% of a new one you’ll get people who were thinking about a different bass interested as it’s a bargain Opening up far more buyers and the element of “I’d better buy that before someone else does”. Depends how quickly you need to sell it

If you could wind back the clock and....
CamdenRob replied to GreeneKing's topic in General Discussion
I play bass because I was the least cool out of my group of mates when we formed a band when I was 13. Unfortunately 25 years later I’m still the least cool, so I’m still on the bass 😐 -
Why are so many metal/hard rock lyrics such merda?
CamdenRob replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
Much to the chagrin of various singers in my bands over the years I’ve never had the remotest interest in lyrics... maybe that’s why I’m a bass player 🤔 Even lyrics others consider good just seem really cheesy to me. Although I’ve always found poetry laughable as an art form and I suppose lyrics aren’t really all that different. Mrs C says its cause I’m incapable of emphasising with the emotions of others 😐
