1.
This may actually be the very best thing I have ever seen in my whole life!!!!
I can't take credit unfortunately... just a picture I found on the web. ... made me chuckle though.
2. Best cabs I've used these.
3. Next one must be due soon
4. love it... this can replace my current keyholder.
5.
I think they're designed for the traditional rock bass positioning, as demonstrated in your photo. I like mine kind of just above waist height, which is more suitable for finger style playing. They are great straps though, just wish they were a bit shorter .
This is why I got rid of my mono straps, even the short was still too long. I use comfort strapps now instead

What's happened here this was a thread last time I looked...
7. I don't think I would want to buy back any of the basses I've sold... I sold them all to build up to what I have now, which I'm very happy with, but I do have fond memories of a few of them as being excellent instruments. I had an 84 MIJ P that was a wonderful instrument and also a G&L L2000 tribute I really liked... My first bass when I got back into playing a few years back was a spector legend sixer and that was a whole lot of bass for the money.
8. I haven't played an F bass but they look pretty good and are fodera esq looking to my eyes.

I've just seen the mention of EA cabs. The NL210 was my first choice when I moved to a 210 set up from 2x 112s a little while back but couldn't find any in stock in the UK. I'm more than happy with the berg I ended up with instead though.
10. I got mine a couple of weeks back...

I haven't read through all the suggestions but I also wanted the cleanest amp I could get and have settled on glockenklang. On both the blue sky and blue soul the eq can be completely taken out of the signal chain. I only use it to balence out anything I don't like in certain venues. I'm currently using it with a single berg neo 2x10. I would want a second if I wasn't running through a PA but one is more than enough for rehearsals with a loud drummer and as a backline live.
Am. Std. Olympic White Jazz.
That's lovely...
13.
Or is there an initiation necessary to be an actual 'bass player' ?
You mean to say you haven't had the initiation yet?
14. Grassy knoll would be a quality band name...
15. I name it Alphonso...
16. Not sure about messing with the core tone of a warwick... It's such a unique sound, especially the thumb, if you wanted something that sounded different I'd maybe trade it rather than mod
17. I've got into the routine of opening up this thread when I first boot my machine up at work in the morning and having a read through blue's responses... it really cheers me up to have a good chuckle in the morning, sets the day off on a positive note.
18.
Nice stuff makes me play better. Sounding better than the next guy is part of the competition and the striving for success that is making music and playing to an audience. Sounding good increases you confidence, which improves your groove and note choices. Now that really does matter to others. Who are you going to offer the gig to, a guy who sounds crap and plays well or a guy who sounds good and plays better?
+1
19.
Who was bigger? The beatles or Michael Jackson *runs and hides
I dunno who was bigger but Michael Jackson was better.
20. I get far great enjoyment out of playing through my current set up than I did playing the gear I had when I first started I undoubetdly sound better than I did through the ropey squire P and HH amp I had back then... I now have a set up gives me exactly the tone i'm looking for... I find I concentrate more on my playing now I'm satisfied with how my gear sounds
21. I had one lesson when I was 13... Mostly because my mate who played guitar in the death metal band we were in was having lessons with some guy who's mate played bass and needed some cash. I only had one session before he moved away, but in that lesson he told me that my plucking hand was too cramped up and taught me to straighten my fingers out a bit and use my thumb to float between the strings as an anchor point to pivot my wrist. Felt weird at first but I perserveered and this is the exact same technique I use to this day. Without that tip I guess I may have picked it up myself in time, but I reckon that one lesson is responsible for pretty much everything I've achieved on bass since. I used to teach back before I started working full time. I only had 6 or 7 students, so not really a proper full time teacher, but I used to concentrate on theory mostly to teach them how to write their own basslines for their bands.
22.
All of the above proved strangely prophetic and this beautiful bass is now back at Beedster Towers. It's reminded me why, in the early 80's all I wanted was a fretless Wal. Everything about the instrument is absolutely wonderful, build, tone, playability and simple mojo. I now have the dilemma of whether to ask Paul to install a new unlined ebony fretboard, or to have an unlined fretless neck built and have this neck re-fretted to original factory spec. Nice dilemma to have though
Can't beat a Wal for fretless and this one has such an incredible back story... not surprised you're happy to have it back
23. Yes the pricing is a bit of an eye opener... depends how much you want it though. I'm not convinced this will offer something that cannot be bought elsewhere cheaper (how far away is the new Tech21 class D going to be from this?). I bought a mesa mini rectifier for guitar as it was the only transportable amp that gave me the tone I needed, so paying more in £s than the RRP in $s whilst painful was unavoidable really as I couldn't get what I wanted elsewhere.
24. Depends if the teacher is any good...
25. ... so all in all it wasn't the greatest suggested purchase
