do you have any more pics? and how much were the SD pickups?
Heres a couple more guys, this time with the SDs installed and the killswitch.I got the pups from a guy in the States on Talkbass.com.Cost me £40 s/h but are working fine. You can see what I mean by the (cough)modified headstock.

Hmm, Squire for Mexican money
squire5 replied to yorks5stringer's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It's vastly overpriced.I bought one S/H of the Bay a year ago and paid £80 for it. PS I'm selling it now. -
Normally if the wire is attached to the centre tag of the tone control,it should connect to the #1 tag on the volume control ie with the red pup lead, but the green wire seems to be over long for that,so I'm not sure.

I'm actually listening to my Short Wave radio. On 14195khz USB there is an Italian voice endlessly repeating what sounds like"Macaroni, bastardoni ,barchista!"I kid you not.Every now and then theres a burst of music over the top of him.Takes me back to my old CB days!

Looks like its perfectly OK Escholl.Thinman has put my mind at rest re the one volume control scenario, and also the pot type issue as well.I checked and it is a linear pot,so I've ordered an audio taper pot.Problem solved!Cheers guys.
-
Thanx Escholl but further to my query,I have installed the pot and now find the volume sweep is confined to the last 1/4 turn of the Volume control (neck pickup control). Also in series mode, the bridge pup control does not operate at all.In parallel mode everything is normal except for the aforementioned volume sweep problem.I may have got the modes mixed up as I'm not sure which is the default.Clear as mud?I followed the diagram from the Seymour Duncan website. Is the pot value critical.Pointers anyone?Ta!

SOLD Squier Jazz standard (walnut satin) for sale

Nice Jazz Marcus.I like the bridge you have there.Seems like the saddles are huge,a bit like Sadowsky.Tell you what,if you ever decide to change that bridge,PM me and I'll take that one off your hands.Good luck with the bass, but change the pickguard for a tort. It'll be perfect then.

His feedback isn't all that bad,and as regards the bass in question,it is the same bass as previously listed by him.Seems he was messed about by the previous buyer, for reasons that are all too obvious now, refunded him and got the bass back.I e-mailed him re the ply wood issue. He responded twice, but did not mention my comments on the subject.Anyway the bass is now withdrawn from sale.

What is the main reason for a guitar lead to suddenly go microphonic? It's been fine for months and now, every move I make comes through lead and clear through my amp.Earthing problem possibly?
-
Welcome Pete. You'll enjoy your stay here.I only joined recently and there is a wealth of knowledge to be tapped on any aspect of Bass playing. I'm from your neck of the woods as well.Downpatrick,St Pats town!.

I want to install a series/parallel push pull pot (Geez what a mouthful!) on my Jazz bass.I've ordered the pot off Ebay but I've just noticed that the one I've ordered is 500K instead of 250.Will it make much of a difference or should I order the correct one now?

I have a Squier Precision 5 which I have finally decided to part with due to the fact that the neck is too wide for my old arthritic hands. It's dark metallic Green in colour, white s/plate and has 2 Seymour D SJB5 pups installed.A killswitch has been fitted.Condition is very very good, with 1 or 2 minor dings.I would swap for a good Jazz neck, with hardware.PS - the headstock does NOT say Squier,it says something else, beginning with 'F'.Shhh!
Don't buy Planet Waves cables. Those expanding bits on the jack break your input sockets eventually!! Too true. Our guitarist uses one and one night, when he was tuning up,his tuner captured the jack plug and point blank refused to let it go.We actually ended up smashing the tuner to bits, and even then, had to use a screwdriver to prise the jack plug from the tuners jack socket.Bloody Planet Waves!

It could well be just a fuse.Check that first and then if it's not that, well then..........There should be a fuse holder on the back of the amp somewhere.Oh,and remember to change the voltage selector to the correct settting,in case you do the same thing again.Good luck! -
Nice job mate! Its amazing what a bit of elbow grease and dedication can do.She is looking good!

Just got a few free stereo patch leads of Andy.Nice guy to deal with.

Just watched the Eric Clapton Crossroads concert.Tal Wilkenfeld was on with Jeff Beck.I know, I know its an old clip, but I've only ever seen it on You Tube before,on a laptop as well! She can play, but she looked about 12 on that clip.
