This is a great beginners upright to start developing your technique - ideal for quiet gigs, local drama groups performing 'The Merry Widow', 'Oklahoma', etc, Jazz gigs - its got that nice 'growl' to it when needed, quiet pop/acoustic gigs ... and looks the part - you'll get even more gigs - ideal for the bass guitarist who wants to venture down this pathway with a view to expanding their skills and technique. Its the one you have been promising yourself - the one you have threatened to buy and not tell the missus - but its too big to slide past her (its ok, we all do it - ha ha)....ideal to start your d/bass career on - as said further up, i've had it for 23 years and will be sad to see it go - I've just come into some money and found the right bass at the right time/price and decided to upgrade.....over to you.....

1960s upright ¾ d/bass I bought this bass in the early 1990s from a old boy in York. I got as far as Grade 5 ARBSM and have enjoyed playing this ply upright ever since. I have busked, played classical, acoustic pop and Jazz on this and it has never let me down. There are the usual scuffs and marks on it and it has a lovely resonance and projects well. The old boy I bought it off told me of an accident it had in the late 1960s and a foot went through the rear of the bass – (see photo). It was all repaired then and no issues have occurred since. There is also what looks like a surface split on the neck– (see photo). I have decided to upgrade my instrument, and the newer one has arrived, so this is now surplus to requirements. The bass comes with a cover, bow, rosin, a spare set of strings and is all set to practice on and gig. The action is quite low (but adjustable) – I have tried to show this in the side photo of the bridge. (no pick-up offered) - So buy with confidence. I am more than happy for you to come over and try the bass – collection only. I am based in the middle of Chichester, West Sussex….er, near Bogor Regis….Cash would be best Any questions or more photos wanted, then please ask and I will do my best. sorry - just to clarify things - yes, it is the american cab Apart from the one mark shown in the pic above I am not aware of any others Reason for selling - at 54, although its got excellent wheels and the roll bar, I have to given into natures way of telling me to move with my age and sadly part company with the cab.....

Excellent move....many years ago I found myself in Texas and popped into several music/bass shops....when they discovered I was english and a bass player using Ampeg they asked what spks I had in there....at the time I was a little miffed by the question but I said the stock ones, and they all laughed - basically they said that the americans know that the 'custom' type of spks that are in there are 'just' functional and wipp em out and upgrade them straight away - results as you have found, are a big improvement .....and now your a happy bassist

Ampeg 410HLF (4 x10” cab) (the one with the Chrome roll bar and x2 wheels) £380.00 (including original speakers)….so what do you get - Since I bought this cab second hand 4½ years ago I have worked considerably on it. Apart from the usual - bought a ROQSOID cover, penned in and shoe polished the exterior – (regularly) – its ok, no polish comes off on your hand, and WD’d the ball-bearings in the castors, never used the horn – always turned to zero, I found out years ago how to improve these beasts. · The MDF frame - which holds the front exterior cloth (and they always seem to split about 1/2 - 2/3rds of the way down), - I had a stronger one made of pine and fitted. · The clumsy cheap colourful wiring and electricians plastic block (what, you didn’t realise….) I had taken out and excellent quality speaker cable hand wired, silver soldered, point-to-point….the speaker response and quality of sound is somewhat very noticeably improved. · I upgraded the original speakers…(Guitarists hate this part) and the response/depth/clarity of tone is tonnes better. (I kept the original speakers in the boxes of the news ones – all safe and dust/moisture free –with ‘no’ sound scars which speakers often get). So buy with confidence on a stand out Ampeg cab I am more than happy for you to come over and try the cab – in fact it would be so much better if you did for all parties concerned. I am based in the middle of Chichester, West Sussex….er, near Bogor Regis….Cash would be best. NOTE - The upgraded speakers, were hard-wired (Eminence Legend BP102-4). I can sell you these as well (total 8 x10’’ Spks if you wish) for an extra £100 quid…To buy these spks new would cost you over £250.00 + P&P from ‘Lean Biz’ – there are no sound scars, no issues…nicely run in If you only want the original speakers then let me know. Total £380.00 with original spks £480.00 with original & upgraded spks Pete - 01243 839968
