Just bought a Vintage V4 Precision off ebay for £70 and my intention was just to have it as a spare to practise in the house and may be put some chrome covers on it to pimp it up. I have to say I am really impressed with it and the build quality. Its lovely to play Really looking forward to band rehearsal tonight

I have just bought a nice Vintage V4 P bass fairly cheap with the intention of doing it up to my taste and I want to add a chrome pickup cover and an ashtray. Rather than drill the holes into the guitar is there any reason why they cant be mounted using an adhesive or a strong double sided tape? I supppose vibration may be an issue and the fact there would be visible holes on the plates where the screws should be but wondered if anyone else had done this. The ears on the ones I'm looking at are fairly wide so should be secure.

The last part of having guilt is very true. However mine usually starts before I leave the shop. Usually when I am entering my PIN No into the machine at the sales desk

This is my bands opening song (we have the keyboard on MP3 and fade it out when we all come in) and I used this clip to learn the bass line. I dont play his part note for note but it certainly gave me the basics. Amazing bass line

Hi This might seem a daft question but I am going to utilise a bass tuner that I have that only has an input socket .Would it be best to use the 'send' ouput from the back of my HA3000 or the 'line out'. I am assuming it doesn't matter but just thought Id check Also if using the 'send' i presume I would use a guitar lead but if using the line out do i use a guitar lead or speaker lead? Thanks

I spent 15 years as a solo singer to backing tracks and now I am back playing bass in a live band where I started 20 years ago. It is a great way to earn a living as I was doing it three times a week, most weeks and could have easily quit my day job. I always did feel I was putting bands out of business at the time as I was half the price of an average band, and like has already been said, punters don't know the difference. The only negative is as you are playing the songs parrot fashion to the backing track it does get very boring so you need to change your set around regularly. I also did really miss the live band banter which is the main reason I'm back playing live again. You can also get more work where a band with a drummer is not feasible for size or volume reasons.

Yes that happens all the time. I have a gig in 2 weeks where every man and his dog is coming and we have an amazing support band. I am pretending to think it will be sh*t so I don't curse it! Mind you I don't think its only gigs, I think its nights out in general. If we organise a night out with friends its usually rubbish but if you bump into a mate in the street and decide to go for a quick pint it can turn out to be a corker

I was at the Birmingham Hummingbird leg of the Headless Children Tour. Great gig but awful sound[i].[/i]I remember waiting for the amazing guitar riff in the middle of The Heretic only to have it drowned out by feedback.

I would give anything to have mine on display, but with a wife and two young daughters I have to make do with peppa pig and disney princess on every square inch of wall space. However in answer to your question I think they are beautiful instruments to admire either on the wall, on a stand or on stage

I agree with flyfisher. I played bass from a young age because I was naturally drawn to the bass line in a song. Whilst all my rock friends were drooling over Tony Iommi's amazing riffs, I adored Geezer Butlers bass lines, so he is my only real influence. I listen to just about every genre of music, but still end up going back to Sabbath in the end for the bass

[/quote] Music is a form of entertainment meaning that its for other peoples enjoyment as well as the provider. No a photographer wouldn't charge to take photos, but he would possibly charge if one of his or her photos was in a gallery where people were paying to visit. You are right that music is unique in this respect but on the other hand isn't it amazing that we do something we enjoy and can make money from it too.

WASP's Blind in Texas is probably one of the best rock songs ever!!! I love a song with a guitar solo at the start Best WASP album by far is The Headless Children, but I agree they have done some dreadful albums too. I still go and see them in Wolverhampton every time they tour though, even if Blackie Lawless is a miserable git.

I was a Crue fan for first 5 albums and I think SATD is an amazing album. Very simple riffs but sound so raw. However I too think the first album was the best. Does anyone remember the two Nikki Sixx's conspiracy. I remember reading about that in Kerrang

I was going to post this so glad someone already has. Spent most of my youth in the brown room and only stopped going when Rob decided to put his snake collection in the reception area, which scared the hell out of me. Also hated the parking!!! Really hope at least some if not all of the gear gets back to him

I use both depending on the songs. One habit I can't break though is having the pick hanging out of my mouth when I play with my fingers.....maybe sub consciously I think it looks cool!!!!!!
