Might sound daft but do you use a mobile regularly and do you use same hand to operate it. I play bass with a pick but also admit to using my smartphone a lot and texting and scrolling with my right thumb. I started getting a lot of pain in my thumb and hands. I still use pick the same but operate my phone with my index finger and pain has gone.

Single strings seem very limited. Ive just bought a new set of fender flats which i always use and accidentally cut the G string too short. I now have to buy another pack again just for one string as you cant get single fender flatwounds anywhere 😕

Squier vintage modified precision bass in good condition with minimal marks. Bought off here last year but have too many jazzes which i prefer. I have added quarterpounders but will include original pups with sale and have also upgraded to solderless pots from john on here. Will throw in a soft case and a spare tort scratchplate. Collect from Wombourne near Wolverhampton only. -
Before 1st and 2nd set and most times when i tune up the second time its still in tune.

Ive never been much of an effects person preferring to just use my bass and amp. However in my covers band I want to add a bit of overdrive to some of the who songs we do. However as i switched to flats a while back preferring the feel and sound I wondered if there was much of a difference between flats and rounds when using a bit of dirt. Any advice welcome. I could put rounds on one of my basses but would prefer not to. I have a squier VM bass and a MIM jazz.

I had the same problem waiting for the Hartke class d amp to come out last year. It went ages over the original date so i gave up and bought something else.
so no recomendations of agencies then
It was 20 years ago when i used them so theyve all dissappeared. Ring a few local to you and have a chat with them to find out their fees and what they can do for you.

I store the bands active Pa and sometimes it sits in the cupboard under the stairs for a few weeks between gigs. Ive often thought of putting a speaker in each corner of the lounge and connecting them to my tv and mp3 player.

When i used to work for agencies on the club circuit there used to be whats known as 'shop windows'. These were held at a social club on a sunday afternoon where numerous bands and singers would perform a few songs each to a room full of landlords, entertainment secretaries and other agents. I got loads of work from them. Best to ring an agent to see if they still do them.

I have super glued the large washer to the strap and then super glued the nut in place aftet tightening it up as much as possible. Should hold it in place and keep me calm during gigs 😀

I fear i did not research these enough as it looks like the dunlop are more secure.

I recently purchased some schaller strap locks for the first time and am struggling to feel confident with using them. I have a fairly thick strap and am aware that i have to cut away part of the strap to get the washer to lie flat. However, cutting as much away as possible means i can only just about get the nut on a couple of turns. I tried them with my fender strap and thats not much better. The nut once tightened barely shows any of the visible thread. I used them on my bass last night and they worked fine but i was constantly worried all night it was going to come undone. I cant understand why they dont make the thread just a little bit longer so you can see it once the nut is on. Am i being overly cautious?
Were you playing on the D string around the 3rd to 7th frets? Many jazz basses suffer from dead spots low down on the D string. I have even heard of some people increasing the headstock mass to correct it.
Interestingly yes it was. Will see if the same happens at our gig this weekend and will also take my VM jazz to compare

Played a gig last night at a place we had done a few times. I was using a new MIM jazz bass. I always have flats on my basses but this came with rounds so i left them on to try out. Great gig and good overall sound, however when i played anything on the D string i couldnt hear the notes cutting through and it appeared half the volume to the other strings. When i played on my own inbetween songs it sounded fine and it sounded ok in the my generation solo. Whenever the band kicked back in I seemed to lose all volume on the D string with both fingers and pick. Unfortunately i didnt have my other bass to compare and my Eq was set flat as it always is. I dont think its a dud string as it sounded fine on its own I just wonder if it was down to room acoustics. If i played the equivalent notes on the A string it was fine. Very odd!

Very sad news. Saw it on facebook earlier. They had only posted two days earlier about release of a new album. How life can change so very quickly. RIP
