4.
I've just purchased a nice silver series sunburst p bass and I wanted to give it a light relic look, does anyone know what the body wood is? I'm guessing the answer is 'basswood' but it feels so light! I just wondered if anyone would have an insight as to how it would relic? I would just like to dull the gloss finish with some minor sanding like a road worn, any help would be greatly appreciated. Dodge
Nooooo Dont relic it I don't know what is all the rage at present with all this relicing/roadworn look but IMHO it just makes a good guitar look S**T (runs for cover)
 5.
Its mine Markus:-)
Did you buy this one then Col? if you did good on ya you lucky sod
 6.
Blimey! All this criticism because a band sounds like other bands from the past. I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Siouxsie as well. There seems to be a big thing about funk on Basschat, and yet almost all the funk bands that people rave about sound like music from the 70s. There's nothing wrong with some young people taking from the past, they have something to say lyrically about the current, they have what seems to me to be a real fire in their bellies. Never mind, I like them.
I agree I like music from the past decades in fact alot of the stuff I like I did not ever get to see as I was too young at the time and some of the music I like was from decades before I was even born....maybe a lot of todays up and coming bands like other eras and it is great to see them paying a tribute so some good music and bands that half of today's generation had not even heard of before one of today's band covered the original song so it is kind of keeping the music alive I guess? And paying tribute to the artists or bands that motivated them.
 7.
Take this spiky bass whilst you can! He is trying to buy them all
I am suprised this spiky shiny bass is still around thought it would of been snapped up as they are so rare....well I have never seen another one
 8. In fairness you are only paying to use the service to advertise goods just like you do on ebay or Gumtree or whatever and there rules have to be obeyed whether we like them or not so why should it be any different for basschat?
 9.
Cheers guys Fascinating to hear it sounds 'ravey'
Ravey was the best way I could think to describe it
 10. Same here but you do learn a lot with out noticing well thats what I tell myself
 11.
These are what you're looking for...
This is the solution there is no way they can work lose from the wood if fitted correctly and level as they tap a new thread I have used these before with fantastic results and they also give the bass or guitar better sustain. I would say that if you had problems with them coming loose they were not installed correctly
 12. I have never heard of that brand it looks a bit 80's to me but yeah nice wood grain
 13.
2010 US Std Jazz, has the newer Hi mass bridge. The screws sit proud of the barrels and shred my right hand whilst playing. Im looking at ordering some shorter ones that would sit "inside" the barrel rather than poke out at the top. Could some kind person let me know what diameter these are. Im looking at getting ones that are 8mm long. Also, do the thread pitches vary? Any idea where I can get such items? Thanks neil
Can you not rub them down with a small bit of emery paper or something?
 14.
Right wee update, I was gonna just bite the bullet and put it in to my local shop to get looked at, but I forgot to lift the bass this morning so I gave the above a go as my mate hasn't had the time to come round with the stuff. So armed with some extra wire and leccy tape I went to work........ Success! we have sound and its not quiet either! Gave both pickups a try individually and together, happy days at least the pickups aren't duff I might just wire the pups straight to the jack after all if I can remember how to solder
Why not get Kiogon to make you a solderless loom up? there good at will save you no end of messing about
 15. Nice Bass I listened to the sound clip and it sounds very Indian inspired to me I liked it wasnt so sure about the "ravey" bit though sorry. Just to think 12 months ago I would of just turned it off after a few seconds and said well that is s--t but when you play an instrument seriously you tend to appreciate all kinds of music good work mate
 16.
Thanks! whats GLWTS?
Good luck with the sale
 17.
DELETE THIS POST!!!!!!!
PLEASE ?
 18.
I replaced the Duncan Designed ones in my VM Squier P-bass with Toneriders - much better now, they are good quality and have more punch. Recommended.
Thanks for the reply I think I am gonna get me some then or maybe wait for Father Christmas to bring me some hehe
 19. I liked it it is like the art work you see in quality kids books
 20. Is this the kind of bag you take to Harvest Festivals ? lol Joking aside GLWTS
 21.
Thanks. Plenty of other people seem to be selling stuff though. There are even Foderas and Wals getting bought! So there is clearly some cash around...
I said that on another thread I think it is only the real top end gear going or the really cheap stuff there does not seem to be much of a market for the stuff in the middle or maybe no one wants our basses boohooo joking aside I think the market will pick up soon
 22.
OK, all local trade offers and options have fallen through or been withdrawn I'm not sure what the problem is with selling Spectors at the moment, as they really are top quality basses. Maybe a bit of the Warwick syndrome? There seem to be a lot currently for sale but not shifting, whereas people are queueing up to buy Fender Jazzes?! I probably won't be bumping this bass any more, but will leave the thread up in case of any genuine interest, but I am rather sick of people who make offers and then simply stop communicating!! "I want to buy your bass -will you ship it to Greece/Ireland/Germany...?" "Yes of course I will, at your expense" Then silence.......
I know how you feel mate there has been alot of time wasting d--kheads on here recently but I bet we aint the only ones it is happening too though anyhow GLWTS mate
 23. That looks great good job mate
