2. Bump for a brand new Reane plug
 3. I try and listen to all kinds of music but I am a rocker at heart I don't really like jazz music and I honestly don't know why I do find it a bit depressing though
 4. Thanks guys is looking like it could be a toss up between a silver series and a vintage then
 5.
Nope the "Other Half" encourages everything I do, whether I need or want it. She encourages me to go out and gig and to practice and improve. I do the same with her, if she wants new shoes, clothes or a new sewing machine or furniture then so long as we each have the money it's all good. Otherwise we have to prioritise things. I guess I'm really lucky to have such an understand and supportive "other half"
Same here I do very rarely get a telling off though lol
 6.
From the instructions on my bottle of Dunlop 'Fretboard 65' lemon oil: (Note: Not for use on maple fretboards.)
Cheers Turk
 7. Always liked the look of a Gibson grabber or a real Gene Simmons axe bass but it could all change tomorrow lol
 8.
This one looks nice. This guy in Glasgow has sold quite a few nice basses of the years. http://www.ebay.co.u...s-/231073207913
Nice looking bass but is over budget sigh but thanks anyway
 9.
She sounded like my vacuum cleaner.
I bet she sucks up better thank your vacuum cleaner aswell lol
 10.
And I've never has a lesson or read a book in my life and still don't know what most of the notes are.
Pretty much the same here I did have a couple of lessons but found them a waste of time as all my teacher wanted to do was show off how good he was on bass and all he did for lesson plans was download tab offline for me so I gave up and started to teach myself with the aid of books and youtube videos I will have lessons again in the future but I will search hard for a good teacher before hand
 11.
From those above the Vintage basses definitely look worth checking out. I`ve played a Vintage P and it was very nice in the hands. Wasn`t plugged in so can`t comment on the sounds. 2nd hand Squiers are worth a look too - shameless plug time - I picked up a Korean 97 Precision a couple of weeks ago, but having just bought a Duff McKagan Sig Precision something has to pay for it so I`ll be putting an ad up in the week, but briefly, black, tort (from Bass Doc) rosewood, new CTS pots and Switchcraft jack. Will be looking for £140ish. Nice sized neck on it, a mans handful for sure!
I could well be interested Lozz depends on if mine goes we shall wait and see But Im really liking the Vintage
 12.
An older Peavey made in USA,crafted etc. Lotsa bass for the money. Lots of love for these
Good Idea but I am rather liking the look of that Vintage Mr discreet found.
Could you not put a P neck on your jazz if money is very tight, or do you just not like the J? I bought an Aria STB series P for £40, put some 1/4 pounders and a set of Chromes on it and I think it's awesome, very light and well balanced and the Aria necks are superb. There's the Jazz version on ebay atm for £50ish, I'm sure they use the same P sized neck for both.
I am a bit funny about changing necks I just hate seeing a perfectly good bass bitsa-fied (is that a word lol) and really I would like something I could use straight away with no messing
 13.
Yes! And as gear4music are doing them for £188 it seems rude not to, really. I'd have bought one by now but for the fact I've already given cash to The Bass Doc for certain services... ... no, not those type of services.
I know it sounds very sad but I don't even have 188 pence right now oh woe is me lol
 14.
Yoooouuuu'rreee welcome... It was originally £269 RRP too, which was still a bargain imho. http://www.jhs.co.uk...BassJan2012.pdf
Yep thats the kinda thing and a maple board too mmmmm
 15.
The Vintage V4 P got some good reviews. It has Wilkinson pickups and hardware too, which is generally well-regarded. I'm seriously thinking of getting one as a spare/backup. http://www.gear4musi...ntage-White/S6K 14-day money-back guarantee too - and a 4-year warranty for an extra twenty quid. Worth thinking about. I'll see if I can find a review of it...
Why thank you kind sir much appreciated
 16.
My Vintage Tony Butler
I would love your Tony Butler but you already know that...just need to sell mine first to get the money
 17. Right guys n gals,I have decided after much experimenting that I just do not get on with Jazz basses now I thought they would be better for my stupid knackered hands but my hands are just to big for those slim necks so I am going back to a P bass, I should hopefully have about £200 to spend when my jazz sells now what I would like to know is what brands of P basses are worth looking at now I know the obvious ones like Squire , Vintage etc will be in that price range but is there anything else worth looking at ? I am going to try the S/H route as obviously I will get a bit more bass for my smallish budget. Now any ideas will be appreciated maybe a brand I have overlooked blah blah blah you know the drill Thanks all
 18. Nice one thanks lads
 19.
As nobody has mentioned it, I try to keep a diary of my practice. It helps show progress, especially if you put down the metronome bpm you can play riffs at if you're trying to get faster. WRT time per day. Id love to say it's a regular 2 hours, but with a job, mortgage etc, life isn't so easy to find the time every day. To all the young out there; use the time well. Its a luxury you won't always have.
Big +1
 20. Silly question but Can lemon oil be used on a maple fretboard ? I have only had rosewood boards in the past so also wondered .....sorry for the slight thread hijack
 21.
OK... if someone is prepared to pay £700 for it, then that's what it's worth. To that person. But buying a pedal, or a bass, or an amp because you think it'll make you sound like a particular player is crazy. Why would you want to sound like someone else? Chris whatsisname already sounds like Chris whatsisname. The world doesn't need another Chris whatsisname! Especially one that is only ever going to be an imitation of Chris whatsisname!
+1
 22. I think it is a personal thing as to something being overpriced some people might say wow that Fender is way to expensive at 2 grand but some one else may think wow that's a cheap Fender for 2 grand so there's not really a definitive answer to the original post......is there?
 23.
MB1. I've previously owned an Alembic SC signature and I'm having difficulty seeing any similarity whatsoever?
Do you think it is some kind of fake or copy Martin?
 24.
sorry no trade for the vmj, ive already got 4 j`s and 2 p`s
No worries mate GLWTS
