I have an OC-2 and I love it, and I tried an OC-3 and didn't like it. However, someone told me once that the OC-3 has an OC-2 emulation mode. Is this right? Doesn't it work?
That's correct. But why pay for an emulation when you can get the real thing cheap as chips?
it's almost painful watching this sit here @ £675 with no cash buyers trying to rip Perry's arm off... nicest stingray I've ever seen?...quite probably, yes.
Exactly. Nicest Stingray IMO too. Was so gutted that I couldn't get it after all.
-
Just want to say, Perry is a nice, genuine bloke, and I would have no hesitation in dealing with him what so ever. I've been to play this bass and it seriously does play as well as it looks, and sounds the absolute b*ll*cks. If I'd been able to scrape the cash together in time, this would have come home with me yesterday. Seriously gutted about it!! So, here's a free bump, and if its still around when I've got the cash, I'll nab it.
Any ideas on a good squelchy filter al la Bootsy/ 70's disco style.....cheap!, in a single pedal form, not multi FX, a tall order i know, but its gotta be cheap i cant afford much at all!
Look for a used Maxon AF-9! It's the closest thing I've found to an original Mutron III. I'm considering getting one as a back up for my Mutron. It's awesome!!
I find my EHX micro synth to be quite useful when used sparingly!! for example ill only whack it on when theres a drum fill and i want a nice bbwwwwaaaaaarrrrrrrp-ching! over it Id like to try the prunes and custard though as the ehx dosnt do fuzzy synth very well. the filters are immense but uts a shame!
I absolutely love the Prunes and Custard...I still regret selling mine. I will have one again, some day!
the metaphor interests me most, i imagine the bass muff will just be like the black russian, and the other one will be a simpler version of the metaphor
I think the Bass Big Muff will be more of a Green sovtek muff, judging by the graphics.
I bought one of the Behringer BSY600 Bass Synthesisers, and it's lots of fun, but I can't actually find a use for it!! I've tried rolling back the volume of the effect in comparison with the dry so it's less in your face, but it still sounds like a space invaders game I think I may have wanted a envelope filter, I'm going for the bass sound from the jamiroqui track from Godzilla, which is dirty but has something else on it.....
That's a synth effect alright...But it's more of a Fuzzy synth than the synth you will find on the Behringer unit. I find the Crowther Prunes and Custard pedal gets very close to the Deeper Underground sound.
Hi all. If anyone is interested I am selling an 89 black Kubicki ex factor. If anyone wants any details, check it out on ebay. Starting bid £400.
You seem to only have registered to flog your gear. At least introduce yourself. I don't like to be "that guy" but I feel it's appauling that people just create an account to flog their gear, without making any effort to engage/support/contribute to the community.
same as, EA were extremely helpfull. and mines 2nd hand too
+1. When I blew up my iAmp 600, Gary at EA was very helpful in sourcing the replacement parts, and even offered to speak with my local tech about how to fix it! Great guys, and great products...No complaints from me.

Thanks for the info guys I think I will go for a good hard ebony/maple neck. Still not sure pre-amp wise, but I figure that will be the last thing I put in anyway, so that will give me time to think. As it's a fretless J, I'm wondering if I should have a P pickup routed in, between the Jazz pickups, and some kind of switch so I could have fretless P and fretless J tones It's a tempting idea, but then I'd have no excuse to buy/put together a fretless P

Hmm, you seem to be missing a P bass... Haha, jokes aside - what a fantastic collection!!
are the boss and the jamman longer?, also how many layers can you add?
You can add infinite layers with the Headrush. Something I like to do is put my tuner/volume pedal before it. That way you can play a percussive bass part, and bassline, then mute the signal, plug in a guitar/keyboard/whatever, add some chords, then switch back to bass for some noodling, hehe.
If you're still using the converter I made for you, you're unlikely to get much of a result. The converter uses a dual rail DC-DC converter and a pair of regulators (+9V and -9V) so it'll pretty much supply the same voltage regardless of what goes in. Andy
Hi Andy, I'm now using a product from the GigRig called the Virtual Battery. It's a great bit of kit.
Have you simulated that using the burkey yet?
I've tried it, but it's hard, as I'm powering it from only 9 V, so I can't change the voltages for the sepetate batteries. I will definitely look into it some more though.
The Grinder could be worth looking at at that price for sure. I am going to try and track down an AF9 then if you really rate it for that sound. I'd love a Mu-Tron but cannot justify £300 + on one effect pedal right now - I know that one day I will probably have to get one as it seems that they are the holy grail in envelope filters. Do you have any audio/video clips of you using yours? Would love to hear the sounds that you can get. BTW I read somewhere once that Flea used the DOD FX25 on Sir Psycho Sexy - bollocks or true?
I don't have any clips at present, but I have got a recording interface on the way, so I shall try and sort something out soon. And yes complete bollocks I'm afraid lol, the FX25 gets nowhere NEAR that sound. That is once again (suprise suprise).... a Mutron III, only this time, with dying batteries in it.
Is there a major difference between the original Mutron and the Haz re-issue apart from the price tag?!!! There are no sound sample for the Grinder on their site which is a shame - looks like it could cost a lot too. Have heard good things about the Maxon AF-9. If it is squelchy and keeps the bottom end I may just try one out! Thanks for your feedback
While the Haz is an OK filter in itself - It really doesn't do the original Mutron justice. Completely different beasts, and the original comes out on top every time. The Grinder has a list price of $400/£200, but that isn't street price, so it will hopefully come down a bit. The AF-9 loses no low end at all in my experience. It's my 2nd favourite filter ever, after the Mutron (that I currently own 2 of). If I didn't have a spare, it would be the AF-9 as my back up filter for sure.
hey higgie, was just wondering about the burkley flatliner power, i have been looking at these for a while as i have some pedals with different voltage's. Does the flatliner weigh alot? any hiss? Cheers Nick
Hi mate - Sorry I didn't see this sooner! The Flatliner does weigh quite a bit, but it has no hiss, and is the best power supply I've ever used. Fantastic piece of equipment! The best supply going if you need a couple of different voltages etc.
