Gotcha. Thanks for your help!
-
I see, so why doesn't the key signature change 2 bars earlier instead of having the accidentals leading up to it?
-
Thanks for your posts they've been very helpful! I'm curious as to why it's a chord of D# in bar 8 of the second page? I get that it is setting up the modulation that will follow, but why wouldn't it be an Eb?
-
Correct. I'm in a reading band on a cruise ship for a living and with the exception of our MD who writes amazing charts (not just for the band - a lot of the acts use him for their charts and click tracks as he is absolutely top notch!) most of the charts we are usually presented with are absolute sh*te! I've thankfully not come across too many charts that venture into the treble clef, I just wish there was a standardised way of doing things - And I wish it was 8va rather than treble clef! Haha.

I did think G#m would be easier to read, and would also avoid all the Cb and Fb nonsense, but seeing as it had gone to Cm I thought I'd keep things flat instead of jumping between #s and bs! If there's no actual "Correct" answer then fair play. So in my transcription I'm changing key too late... Is that just because the chord is derived from Em? If that bar was a chord from G#m/Abm would the key change technically be the next bar then? Is it just common practice to change key as soon as you get to a chord that is not diatonic?

Here we have a literally showroom condition Vanderkley 212NMT. 4ohms, comes with Vanderkley padded cover. I've literally used this maybe twice since buying it on here from Nick, so it's exactly the same as it appears here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/269090-sold-vanderkley-212mnt-2-x-12-600w-cab-with-cover/ Working on a cruise ship I am away for 10 months of the year, so the only reason I'm selling is that I have too much gear at home that hardly ever gets used. Would prefer pickup from NE London, in which case I will knock off £25, but if you require postage it will be £675 all in. Cheers!

Ah! Yeah didn't realise I'd put that as Bm. D'oh! Is there any general consensus as to whether it's Abm or G#m? Does it make a difference?
It's quite common to see a single staff part which changes from bass to treble clef when the notes are getting high.
I've always found this to be a bit strange. Personally I just notate everything an octave below and mark it as 8va. If there are going to be too many leger lines, to me it makes sense to keep the clef the same, just write it out normally and indicate it's to be played an octave up, rather than change the whole clef, as if the notes are ascending anyway, you'll still get leger lines. Is it just me?

So it looks to me like it's pretty much the exact same progression, it just changes key so if you learn the fingering, you should be fine, just move it up and down the neck! Bear in mind I'm not too sure of the theory behind this myself, and while I think the chords are right, I'm not sure I've put it in the right key. To me it looks like it goes from Em to Cm then to Abm. Can anyone confirm whether it should be Abm or G#m? It was the chord of G in the Abm section that was confusing me, so I decided to put it in Abm.

Just transcribing this now after reading this post. To me it looks like it does indeed change key. Will upload when I've finished. Cheers
Trans Reds from around that time usually have alder bodies. They tend to be among the lighter StingRays. Great looking basses - bet they sound amazing too! In my experience, you can't really go wrong with instruments from that era, mid-eighties to mid-nineties - some of the best years for EBMMs!
You are correct. They sound and look the business! And I agree, this era was particularly good for them. I'm lucky in that my Dad has a 78 Pre EB so even if I needed one I've got access to the real deal! I'll still miss these though. Lovely basses. -

Current Status: Fretless - Traded Fretted - SOLD! Here I have two matching EBMM Stingrays, only about 300 or so apart Serial Number-wise, from 1989. They are both Trans Red with Transparent Pickguards. The fretted has a wonderful Birdseye Maple Neck and Fingerboard, with some stunning figuring. It is a 2 Band EQ model. It has the Bridge with the original foam mutes. I added a Hipshot Detuner, but still have the original tuning peg. The bass is in overall fairly decent condition. You can tell it's been used, but still pretty clean overall! The fretless also has a Birdseye Maple Neck, but an unlined Pau Ferro Fingerboard. The fretless also has the foam mutes on the Bridge. It has a 3 Band EQ which I think is nicer for the fretless as you get more control over the mids. I have installed a Nordstrand MM4.2, but have the original pickup here. The bass is probably overall in better condition than the fretted, but both are in excellent condition for 27 year old instruments. Both basses sound and play great, look amazing, are in excellent overall condition for their age, and both come with their respective hard cases. The fretless has it's original hard case, the fretted will come with a newer style EBMM hard case. I don't really want to sell these, as they hold great sentimental value to me, being fantastic instruments, and being made the same year as I was. It's also quite cool to note that I didn't purchase these as a pair, but 2 years apart, one from here in London, the other from the US, so they had quite a journey to be reunited after being built at the same time, 22 years previously! Although I love them, I do a lot of reading gigs and function stuff and really only ever play my 5 strings now, so they just don't get played. I also have another Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup I bought but never got round to installing in the fretted. It is brand new, I'd be willing to throw it in for an extra £50 (They are around £90 new I believe?). I'd be looking for £1000 each +£50 for the additional Nordstrand pickup. If you want both basses I'd do the lot for £1850. Whilst there is definitely room to haggle, I'm not going to let them go for stupid money. Would be open to trades too. Aguilar DB750, should I swap to a Tone Hammer 500?
Higgie replied to jembullo's topic in Amps and Cabs
I've got the TH500 and the DB750. It's worth having both. I use a different rig altogether when I am on my day gig, but when I'm at home I use the DB750. The TH500 is my backup as it's so small and light you can take it with you anywhere just in case! -
