1. Ah! Yeah didn't realise I'd put that as Bm. D'oh! Is there any general consensus as to whether it's Abm or G#m? Does it make a difference?
2.
It's quite common to see a single staff part which changes from bass to treble clef when the notes are getting high.
I've always found this to be a bit strange. Personally I just notate everything an octave below and mark it as 8va. If there are going to be too many leger lines, to me it makes sense to keep the clef the same, just write it out normally and indicate it's to be played an octave up, rather than change the whole clef, as if the notes are ascending anyway, you'll still get leger lines. Is it just me?
3. So it looks to me like it's pretty much the exact same progression, it just changes key so if you learn the fingering, you should be fine, just move it up and down the neck! Bear in mind I'm not too sure of the theory behind this myself, and while I think the chords are right, I'm not sure I've put it in the right key. To me it looks like it goes from Em to Cm then to Abm. Can anyone confirm whether it should be Abm or G#m? It was the chord of G in the Abm section that was confusing me, so I decided to put it in Abm.
4. Just transcribing this now after reading this post. To me it looks like it does indeed change key. Will upload when I've finished. Cheers
5.
Trans Reds from around that time usually have alder bodies. They tend to be among the lighter StingRays. Great looking basses - bet they sound amazing too! In my experience, you can't really go wrong with instruments from that era, mid-eighties to mid-nineties - some of the best years for EBMMs!
You are correct. They sound and look the business! And I agree, this era was particularly good for them. I'm lucky in that my Dad has a 78 Pre EB so even if I needed one I've got access to the real deal! I'll still miss these though. Lovely basses.
6. No actually they are both relatively light! EDIT: Just weighed them and they both weigh around 8.75lbs
7. Cheers man. They are excellent instruments!
8. Album updated to include pics of the Fretted, and link added to original post. Cheers.
9. Current Status: Fretless - Traded Fretted - SOLD! Here I have two matching EBMM Stingrays, only about 300 or so apart Serial Number-wise, from 1989. They are both Trans Red with Transparent Pickguards. The fretted has a wonderful Birdseye Maple Neck and Fingerboard, with some stunning figuring. It is a 2 Band EQ model. It has the Bridge with the original foam mutes. I added a Hipshot Detuner, but still have the original tuning peg. The bass is in overall fairly decent condition. You can tell it's been used, but still pretty clean overall! The fretless also has a Birdseye Maple Neck, but an unlined Pau Ferro Fingerboard. The fretless also has the foam mutes on the Bridge. It has a 3 Band EQ which I think is nicer for the fretless as you get more control over the mids. I have installed a Nordstrand MM4.2, but have the original pickup here. The bass is probably overall in better condition than the fretted, but both are in excellent condition for 27 year old instruments. Both basses sound and play great, look amazing, are in excellent overall condition for their age, and both come with their respective hard cases. The fretless has it's original hard case, the fretted will come with a newer style EBMM hard case. I don't really want to sell these, as they hold great sentimental value to me, being fantastic instruments, and being made the same year as I was. It's also quite cool to note that I didn't purchase these as a pair, but 2 years apart, one from here in London, the other from the US, so they had quite a journey to be reunited after being built at the same time, 22 years previously! Although I love them, I do a lot of reading gigs and function stuff and really only ever play my 5 strings now, so they just don't get played. I also have another Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup I bought but never got round to installing in the fretted. It is brand new, I'd be willing to throw it in for an extra £50 (They are around £90 new I believe?). I'd be looking for £1000 each +£50 for the additional Nordstrand pickup. If you want both basses I'd do the lot for £1850. Whilst there is definitely room to haggle, I'm not going to let them go for stupid money. Would be open to trades too. 10. Just wanna say John is a top bloke and great person to deal with. Great amp too. Buy with confidence!
11. I've got one of these. Seriously good little filter - dont let the price fool you! I'd be selling the Q-Tron if i were you
12. Steve here is my dad - The cab is located in Chingford, NE London!
13. I've got the TH500 and the DB750. It's worth having both. I use a different rig altogether when I am on my day gig, but when I'm at home I use the DB750. The TH500 is my backup as it's so small and light you can take it with you anywhere just in case!
14. That P Bass does sound phenomenal!
15. I used to use that exact same rig (except I had an AG500SC) including the same finish. Great rig especially at that price.
16. What's the string spacing on this? Edit: sorry just seen the link in your first post. 16.5mm is too small for me!
17. Any interest in a Part Ex for a Mint Vanderkley 212 with padded cover?
18. No not yet! I wanted to see if there were any UK based options. Guess I will email them! Thanks for your response!
19. No one?
20. I'm interested in the 2U. PM sent.
21. My Aguilar Filter Twin seems to have died, or more specifically, the threshold knob has gone on the fritz. The pedal still passes sound, but the threshold knob has no effect. Theres a slught 'thump' sound when the threshold is turned all the way up. Don't know how it's happened as it was working fine just a few days ago! Anyone know where I can send it? Cheers
22. Chingford, NE. Bit late now though as I go back to work on the ship tomorrow!
