EBMM Musicman Stingray 5 - Rare Colour/Finish *TRADED*

Been a while since I posted a board in this thread! Here is my new board: The Input Jack goes straight into the Sadowsky Preamp, and the Output comes from the Micro Thumpinator underneath the board, with the jack sitting nicely in the hole on the back of the PT's frame. The other hole is for the right angled Fig 8 Lead for the Power Supply, which will be plugged in permanently, and just have the cable coiled on top of the board: Anyone wondering what the gap on the left is for, it's for the AirTurn footswitch we use in our band to turn pages in forScore on our iPads. I haven't velcro'd it down as the footswitch belongs to the MD, so my plan is to use some spray adhesive, and attach some anti-slip mat to the slats (or just whole bottom corner I haven't decided yet). I've tried it without the adhesive and it actually doesn't budge at all, but I'd rather have the anti-slip stuff attached to the board permanently so I can just put the footswitch on it and off I go! Oh and almost forgot, signal chain is as follows! Sadowsky Preamp/DI (Turbo Tuner on the Tuner out)>Darkglass VMT>Aguilar TLC>Aguilar Octamizer>IE Oxide>Subdecay Prometheus>SFX Micro Thumpinator
I really like the look of that and you're not too far from me either. I wouldn't be bothered about the paisley plate, but I would want the screws with the original and some more detail/photos of any wear and tear. Original owner? Fret wear? Action? Truss rod movement? Mark me as interested pending the above :-)
I can take some more photos for you today. I'm not the original owner, I got her in a trade on here about 5 years ago. Frets are in great condition, plenty of life left in them. Action is perfect, can get a nice low action no problem! Truss rod is perfect too, has the wheel at the end of the neck for easy adjustments!
I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I think we've found a bass that looks good with a black pearl scratchplate!
Haha very kind of you to say so! I think the black pearl looks ace on it too. I only bought the silver paisley guard because the bass was already an outrageous colour, why not just make it absolutely ridiculous! Haha. -
Sight Reading - Accidental Over Bar line Question
Higgie replied to dustandbarley's topic in Theory and Technique
Agreed. Tied note or not, without another accidental indicating otherwise, the red circles would be all F Naturals. -
Here we have a 2001 Musicman Stingray 5 String bass. It's in what I believe to be a rare finish (I haven't seen another one anyway!) called Silver Sparkle. It's in good condition with only a few knocks (top of the headstock, as most basses tend to have nowadays, and one small nick through the finish on the lower edge of the body) but what would you expect from a 14 year old bass that's been gigged! It's been all over the world with me, and never let me down once, in fact, the only reason I'm selling is I need some cash. It has a maple neck/fretboard, 3 band EQ, and also comes with 2 scratchplates - Black Pearl and Silver Paisley. It needs some new strings and there are 2 pickguard screws missing (I have them somewhere, the Paisley pickguard has 2 holes that just don't quite line up, and I didn't want to drill new holes, so just removed the screws. Worked a treat! The Black Pearl guard fits perfectly) but other than that, it's in perfect working order. I can take more pictures if needed! £925 includes the original EBMM Hardcase. Would be willing to do a deal without the case, as I have another 2nd hand Stingray that's living in a gig bag! Cash is king, but would be willing to listen to part ex deals on anything, with cash coming my way. Run it past me, worst I can say is no! Bass is located in Chingford, NE London. [s]S[/s][s]hipping can be arranged at buyer's expense[/s] Shipping now included in the price! Meeting within reasonable distance is also an option, lets discuss via PM. Cheers James

It's still being looked after Nik Plugged it in yesterday for the first time in ages, and compared it against my original 70's Mutron III and 3 Leaf Proton. It sounds easily as good as both of them in my opinion! Also has the ability to plug an expression pedal into it and use it as a Wah, so pretty amazing for the price! Someone jump on this now!

Best effect pedal for muse/song 2/etc. - WITH ACTIVE BASS
Higgie replied to Guinness21's topic in Effects
I used a Prunes and Custard for ages with an active bass. Works fine! -

No worries mate. I have the Echo Park digital delay and it could be really noisy when used with other pedals, isolating it worked for me!
-
I love my Analogman - But very tempted by the Aguilar as it looks a bit more versatile! How much are they Molan?
-
The Line 6 pedals are notoriously juice hungry as they are all digital. It will be because of the power supply. You might want to try powering it from either it's own supply, or pick up an Isolator Adaptor from Diago (or GigRig Virtual Battery) that will isolate just that output of the daisy chain.
TH500 would be top of my list for class D..and it is the only one of that type, I've liked enough. If you want a very good amp at around 20lbs or so...go Thnderfunk.
I use a TH500 with my 2 Berg 2x10s and it sounds AMAZING.

Since learning to read actual notation, not only has my playing improved dramatically, but it's also been very helpful in learning more of the theory side of things, as you can actually "see" the relationships between the intervals, and how the key signatures affect what you see and play. For example you would "see" the same C and E notated whether the key be C or Cm, but the key signature will tell you which "E" to play. I've found it's also really developed my ear, too. I was a long time user of TAB, but since learning to read I'm now a pro musician on a cruise ship, backing different artists every day, seeing the world, having loads of fun, AND getting paid to do it. Wouldn't have been possible without learning to read notation, and no amount of TAB would ever have got me there!

That's exactly what I mean. I didn't realise flats could do that kinda thing. Tempted to get some on my 5 String Jazz now!! Thanks for your comment on my version of the track too

So after watching this video of Pino Palladino with Nine Inch Nails on his Precision with flat wounds: I decided to buy some flats for one of my Precisions (Dimarzio Model P equipped 82 Squier JV P 57 Reissue) and it's absolutely awesome. I did a quick sound clip trying to play the tune above. The strings are D'Addario Chromes, and it's the P down tuned to DGCF as on the video going straight into an Aguilar Tonehammer 500 DI'd into an Apogee Duet 2 and recorded in Logic. Couple mistakes in there but what the hell here it is warts and all! https://www.dropbox....%20Mix.mp3?dl=0 The strings are obviously brand new and supposedly they get better with time, so I'm looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about! Really looking forward to playing this through an octave pedal now too! Anyone else new to the flat wound string, or any long time users want to chime in with their experience? What are your favourite strings?

I had 2 DB212s and a DB750 so I definitely feel your pain. I eventually moved the 212s on and went with 2 Bergantino AE210s. These cabs are pretty light, not unbelievably so, but they feel really solid and well constructed. I also bought a TH500 as the DB750 is a lump in itself, and really couldn't be happier. They are easily the best 210s I've ever used. One being enough for most rehearsal/small gig situations, and 2 sound absolutely HUGE! I kept the DB750 around though - Sometimes I just can't resist bringing out the big guns
