1. I think I'd have to say the 65 LPB. That's how a bass should look after 40+ years of gigging. The 63 comes a close second though!
2. Just so you all know, this is my Dad, sorry for the lack of detail in the advert, he's not quite gotten used to the procedure here We've just had a little chat and decided the time isn't right to sell yet either, sorry for any confusion!
3. I've just bought a Barefaced Big One, because now that I'm doing work on the cruises, the 2 DB212's are surplus to requirements!
4.
I use the Filter Twin more than my MuTron III!
I've only had the Filter Twin for a couple of months, and it's already done more gigs than my Mutron which has been with me for several years!
5.
Quasar DLX - been thinking about one for a while - what do you you think of it?
Most awesome Phaser you can get for the money. Seriously so many options, and it just sounds great. Bit overkill if all you want is the typical Phase 90 sound or whatever, but if you're looking for bang for your buck, and versatility, then this thing is unbeatable IMO.
6. I might be looking to move on my DB212's, and was probably gonna let one go first, so if you're interested, PM me
7.
PM'd on BassIQ...
Damn. Second in line
8. I don't know if anyone remembers but I mentioned a while ago about moving to a modular setup, where I can link 2 or 3 different boards together depending on the gig - Just finished the mock up for the second board, as I have all the pedals, and will be buying another PT-Nano in the near future!
9. Ok, selling these for my Dad. Xotic Bass BB Preamp I generously bought him an Iron Ether Oxide after he fell in love with mine, so up for sale is this great Preamp/Overdrive/Distortion with Volume, Gain, and Bass and Treble controls. Really versatile unit. It's in MINT condition as Dad doesn't use pedals much! £100 incl. postage. Got the box for this somewhere too I think! *SOLD* Diago Gigman Pedalboard In good condition. One of the hinges was broken, so we repaired it with longer screws to keep it secure, as you can see in the pictures. Not a massive deal. It is now fully functional, and being offered at the bargain price of £40. Would prefer collection on this, but if you want it posted it can be arranged at your expense.
10. Hi Grant, forum rules state you need to post prices!
11. Great playing dude. If I didn't already have a Filter Twin I'd buy one after watching that
12. I think I am just Filter junkie though, cos I also have a Filter Twin, DOD FX25, Subdecay Proteus, Boss FT-2 (really great filter actually, surprised me!!) as well as the Prometheus and Mutron. Lol! I've had the Mutron for years and I've never gigged it. I think you hit the nail on the head, it's very sensitive to different basses, the bypass is terrible, and its huge, so it's really best kept for studio use really. The Aggie Filter Twin is currently on my 2nd board so if I do need a filter...That's the one thats coming to the gig!
13. Thanks very much Shep! Will hopefully be getting another PT Nano soon, and filling it up with fuzzy goodness courtesy of the Iron Ether Oxide, some LOOOOOWWWWW end from an Aguilar Octamiser, and some funk from it's funky brother the Filter Twin...and Maybe a bit of Chorus from the Analogman Mini Chorus to spice things up a bit! Not decided on the line up yet...Will have to get my Micro Thumpinator on there too somehow...
14. Bought a B3K from Tom, and the transaction was just an absolute pleasure. Top bloke, highly recommended. Cheers mate!
15. Ivan sold me his Iron Ether Oxide, and the transaction was great from start to finish. Highly recommended. Thanks again mate!
16. Ok so recently replaced my MojoHand Cream Pie with a Darkglass B3K. Haven't tried it live yet, but saturday is fast approaching It's now a bit less colourful than before, but I got a feeling the change will be permanent! 17. Seeing as you're in Essex, and I'm only in East London, you could try mine if you like?
18. I have an Original Mutron III, and to be honest, yes, it is THAT sound. I haven't heard anything else do it quite like the Mutron, but there are a number of pedals out there than can come pretty close. My personal recommendation would be the Subdecay Prometheus, or Maxon AF-9 as I have experience with them, but I've heard great stuff about the 3Leaf Proton. I used to own the EHX Q-Tron, and while it is a pretty cool pedal I think there is better out there. The HAZ reissue is a good pedal in it's own right, but to my ears, it just aint a Mutron! I used to have the 00funkmk2 also, and I sold it once I got the Mutron (nothing to do with the Mutron, I just wasn't too keen on the Chunk unit).
19. I currently only have one 5 string, and the other 6 I own are all 4's. I used to just swap whenever I felt like it, and take whatever bass I thought appropriate for the gig, but after being on a cruise ship for 2 and a half months, reading and playing nothing but my SR5, I'm finding playing a 4 again a little weird! When I first picked up the five there was literally no transition period, it was just a 4 string with some extra notes to me rather than a different kind of bass, and I could pick up one or the other without thinking. Now I feel like I've got so intimately acquainted with the 5, that I'm picking that up over any of my 4's, and it used to be the other way round!
20.
Been ages since I did this so here you go, my regular pedal board: and my larger board when space permits:
Top notch matey. Nice selection of pedals, well thought out, and neatly arranged. Top marks
21. It's just one of them pedals you have to try yourself I think. There's a lot going on in that pedal, and I don't think a couple of minutes of YouTube video will do it justice at all. It might not be right for everyone, but I sure love mine!
22.
I was actually just looking at some videos of the Aguilar Octamiser. Its nice but too plain, still not any variance from the average octaver as far as i can tell unfortunately.
That's where you're wrong. It's far from plain. It does natural sounding octave, it does a synthy octave, a vintage octave...and everything in between. Having a tone control for the clean sound is invaluable too, allowing you to keep your tone exactly the same with an octave layer underneath, or completely change it. You'd be surprised how much changing the tone of the "clean" sound affects what you think the octave below should be doing.
