1. I have an Original Mutron III, and to be honest, yes, it is THAT sound. I haven't heard anything else do it quite like the Mutron, but there are a number of pedals out there than can come pretty close. My personal recommendation would be the Subdecay Prometheus, or Maxon AF-9 as I have experience with them, but I've heard great stuff about the 3Leaf Proton. I used to own the EHX Q-Tron, and while it is a pretty cool pedal I think there is better out there. The HAZ reissue is a good pedal in it's own right, but to my ears, it just aint a Mutron! I used to have the 00funkmk2 also, and I sold it once I got the Mutron (nothing to do with the Mutron, I just wasn't too keen on the Chunk unit).
2. I currently only have one 5 string, and the other 6 I own are all 4's. I used to just swap whenever I felt like it, and take whatever bass I thought appropriate for the gig, but after being on a cruise ship for 2 and a half months, reading and playing nothing but my SR5, I'm finding playing a 4 again a little weird! When I first picked up the five there was literally no transition period, it was just a 4 string with some extra notes to me rather than a different kind of bass, and I could pick up one or the other without thinking. Now I feel like I've got so intimately acquainted with the 5, that I'm picking that up over any of my 4's, and it used to be the other way round!
3. Payment sent mate! Cheers James
4.
Been ages since I did this so here you go, my regular pedal board: and my larger board when space permits:
Top notch matey. Nice selection of pedals, well thought out, and neatly arranged. Top marks
5. It's just one of them pedals you have to try yourself I think. There's a lot going on in that pedal, and I don't think a couple of minutes of YouTube video will do it justice at all. It might not be right for everyone, but I sure love mine!
6.
I was actually just looking at some videos of the Aguilar Octamiser. Its nice but too plain, still not any variance from the average octaver as far as i can tell unfortunately.
That's where you're wrong. It's far from plain. It does natural sounding octave, it does a synthy octave, a vintage octave...and everything in between. Having a tone control for the clean sound is invaluable too, allowing you to keep your tone exactly the same with an octave layer underneath, or completely change it. You'd be surprised how much changing the tone of the "clean" sound affects what you think the octave below should be doing.
7. Second in line if this falls through! Edit: Any interest in a Dod FX25 as a trade? I have other filters too, if you're interested!
8. Ok so we are finally under way! Just put my deposit down, and so the work will begin ASAP...I will post pics of the progress as I receive them
9.
You'd be very lucky mate..... I'd do you a swap for your JV though
Well I didn't win anything on the Euro Millions so maybe my luck is about to change?? Sorry mate, my JV isn't going anywhere. I wouldn't sell that bass if I was homeless and starving!
10. I think you should give this to me for free as a birthday present... Just throwing that out there.
11. Love it Andy. That Whammy is the best looking one since the original! Nice setup.
12. Pretty sure this used to be mine...If not it's exactly the same as the one I had. Lovely bass!
13. That is gorgeous! Too many knobs and switches for me but undoubtedly a fine piece of craftsmanship and I'm sure it plays and sounds great. Fancy getting a clip or two uploaded for us poor folk who could never even dream of owning one?
14. Can't believe this is still here. At this price someone needs to snap it up!
15. Get while they're hot folks, I go away next tuesday for 9 weeks so I won't be able to send them till I'm bad otherwise!
16. Pickups sold, everything else still available.
17. Sold.
18. It is drilled for the rest on the G string side.
19. Martyn sold me some books at a very reasonable price, the communication was excellent, and they arrived very quickly. Great guy to deal with! Cheers again Martyn! James
20. Haha, maybe I should hire someone to sell it for me! Body sale fell through £150 takes it.
21. Haha, thanks mate All quality bits here folks, roll up, roll up, it's for a wonderful cause etc...!
22. I have D-Tuners on all my 4 strings. I find them invaluable as a lot of the gigs I do require a lot of chopping and changing between drop D and standard tunings. So easy to use you can literally flip it up and down just for one note in one song
