1.
sounds flangey to me, it has a sort of 'metallic' swirl tone in the upper frequencies. I hear phasers as being a bit more 'woody'.
Yep. Great way of describing it. The Flanger has always had a kind of metallic sound to my ears, with Phasers always sounding a lot more "organic". I currently don't have a Flanger and have been asked to learn this for a gig, I'm having to use my Phaser but it does't sound as good as it does with my Dad's Boss BF-2B. That thing really nails the sound IMO. Can be found pretty cheaply second hand too!
2. Flanger without a doubt!
3. Yeah currently only my Fretless has an MM4.2 in it, but I used to have one in the first Stingray I had. Personally I find the tone a little bit clearer and defined, and I found it eliminated the "Dead G string" problem that Stingrays seem to suffer from where you can't hear it as opposed to the other strings. What I was thinking of doing is taking the 4.2 out of my Fretless and putting it in my new 89 Fretted, and then buy the MM4.4 for all the coil switching options, and put that in my Fretless with a 2band EQ, but I'm thinking it might be a lot less hassle to just leave it as a 3EQ - I think the mid control might be more of an asset on the Fretless.
4. £700 including postage bump.
5.
Higgie those are awesome! *wishing I had artistic skill*
Haha cheers mate!
Yup - impressive mate. Fancy putting my board together in pictures? See you in a few years
I'd love to! It'd be a challenge! You'd have to take LOTS of measurements for me
6. Just 2 and a half hours left on eBay
7. Just finished the X-Blender, Octamizer, and Filter Twin for my Virtual board project: I'll be uploading all the pedals I do here, in case anything I've made is of any use to anyone else!
8.
I just think its a bad time to sell rays dude.
+1 We need a support group or something. Stingray Sellers Anonymous
9. Would also include a mint and unused (not even drilled) Moses Graphite Neck for £690. So you have a US Fender Jazz body with String thru Body bridge, upgraded Dimarzio pickups, with a choice of either a Maple or Graphite neck, with Hipshot tuners and a Detuner, for under £700. If that's not value for money I don't know what is!!
10. Final final price drop - £525.
11. It was my Dad! I would never have made such a rookie error
12. Surely if you owned all the tea in China, buying another B3K would be the least of your worries. So, in conclusion, Tom... Give me your B3K!
13. One day left on eBay!
14. Yeah I've seen those! I don't really like the look of just the 3 holes though. Thanks anyway!
15. Any interest in anything I have for sale here as a trade?
16. Thanks mate. It's a brilliant bass. Just not so fond of the Rosewood!
17. Yes, he did! It's currently residing in my room until my tech recovers from surgery and can put it on my Fender that no one seems to want to buy If my bass sells, I'll have no use for it, so I'll keep you in mind!
18. Really sad to see one of these go at such a low price. Would be worth buying as an investment alone! If I had the cash I'd snap it up at this price - And I've already got one!
19. I see two of you have voted for the Rotary knob. Only downside of this is that I would now have to go and buy a Nordstrand MM4.4 for all the switching options. There's already a MM4.2 in there!
20. You know what, that is a brilliant idea that I hadn't even thought of. Thank you sir! Man, I love BassChat!
21. Well that's the thing, I don't mind the 3EQ, but I'd like to try the 2EQ in the fretless to satisfy my inner Pino! I have a 2EQ fretted in the same colour, both from the same month and year, so I'd like them to match. I don't see how adding a 3 way blade switch would be less hassle, or less likely to affect resale value - I would have thought that was more invasive than simply adding a rotary knob where the input jack would be on the control plate. I'm really not gonna be selling it I don't think, as it's an awesome bass, and it's from my birth year Thanks for your post though, I'm fairly sure the Pickup Coil option will be what I go for, just thought I'd open it up for discussion as there is bound to be other options I haven't thought of!
22. I'm trying to decide what to do with the EQ on my fretless musicman. It currently has a 3EQ but i would like to put a 2EQ on it. The problem is with a 3EQ that the jack is on the side of the body rather than on the front like the 2EQ. If I were to put a 2EQ on it, what could i do with the remaining side jack hole? I was thinking perhaps of turning it into a direct out XLR, like on a Wal, but I'm also tempted to keep the side jack and replace the front jack with a rotary knob that would select different pick up coil options like on a Stingray 5. Opinions?
