I always tune to drop D when playing this. Really brings the thunder!

No love for the Aguilar TLC? I love mine. Had a Demeter Compulator before which was awesome too.

Haha. Well it was just a rehearsal, as it's a good friend of mine who usually does the gig, I was invited along to meet him and play a couple of songs as a potential dep. So hopefully something comes in soon -

I actually got to play this with Limahl a couple of weeks back I used the Beggs transcription but just made some changes by ear as it didn't sit right with me either. He seemed to like my version -
Cheers dude. It was actually an older model with an expanded drive that died. Not the ylod, but won't stay switched on, another common hardware apparently :-/ Hoping to get a new slim one with a warranty this time, Cheers for the kind thought though dude
Ah I see..I've been lucky! My original is still going strong, touch wood! The slim DOES look cool..

Just a little hint for the PS3 - Go second hand on eBay and grab an original 40gb model which should be the cheapest. Get on eBuyer and grab yourself a new HDD. It takes 2 mins to swap them out, and my PS3 now has 750GB of space. And if you buy an external drive caddy while you're there, you can pop the 40gb drive in there and have a portable unit for transferring music/films/photos
Who's John?? EDIT: I get it... Your lady friend that knows my drummer knows him as John, which is actually his name, though he hasn't used that name for 10 years or something. Everyone knows him as 'Tom'. I only found out his name wasn't actually Tom about 6 months ago and I've known him for for 2 years (and been in a band with him for 18 months!). lol. As for Perspex. It was suggested before, but I'd have to move it around and it would be huge, like the board. The logistics just don't make sense for me... Plus as you say, I'd need to face front and me and Tom/John always place facing each other.
Couldn't it just be a few mms short of the overall interior area and carried inside the case with the board?

If only I had one! I've had 2 in the past. Sold my first one because I didn't use it. Bought another because I just loved the sound. Then sold it again as I found I could get close enough with a combo of a few other pedals I have. Unless you'd be interested in a trade for an old Boss CE-1? - The very first Boss pedal and the best Chorus/Vibrato ever made!

Sharp! Yes exactly what I was getting at. And I can definitely see how a lack of a bass amp could hinder the tone. Mine was recorded straight into Logic without any post production too, but I did have compression and a few bits of eq/tone shaping coming from other pedals along the way. Valid point about the keys - that's what I was trying to get at, in that I was more trying to emulate the actual bass part than replicate the keys. I'm gonna try to get a better sound this evening and record it - try to get something that accurately covers both the bass tone AND the synth sound at once.
-
When I listen to the record I hear a really compressed bass with virtually no attack and very little treble, and a synthy flavour mixed in, so I intentionally tried to get a quite squashed and muffled sound to try and get my bass to sound like the actual bass on the track, and then add my approximation of the synth sound over the top. I get what you mean about the tracking and fuzz, yours does sound great, but I think it sounds a little too "focused" (really struggling for a better word to describe it...a bit too "concise" maybe). I had my TLC set quite squashy, into the Cream Pie for a little bit of edge. The Aguilar Octamizer with the clean tone all the way down to get a fat wooly sound, and the octave tone set about 1 o'clock (just to the synthier, rather than fatter, side of the tone control) into the X-Blender which has a BYOC Swollen Pickle clone and Subdecay Proteus in the loop.

Try Sound cloud! It's easy and free. I was just mucking around with some of my pedals and came across this sound...I know it's not perfect but I think it would work well enough live: Deeper Underground
Is that a Modulous ?
Yeah. Modulus Flea bass. Obviously there's a lot of debate about tone being in the fingers, but having the same bass and overdrive pedal will undoubtedly help

Says "Access denied" for me when I try to listen to your link!

Nailed the tone. Sounds great!
Hmmm, I tried to attach an mp3 clip here of how I make it sound with the EHX but I always get a file with an .ipb extension showing instead, which doesn't play... any help?
Yeah I've found that too when I try to upload PDFs. Just attach it, and when it's downloaded at the other end, change the file extension to mp3 and it should work.
