Yeah that's what I was getting at. He sings it in a way that makes it his own, without making it sound wrong, which is hard because of how unique Fagen's vocal is! Agreed - And you did it justice matey!
-
Fantastic Pete! Really enjoyed that. Awesome bass playing dude - right in the pocket! You and the drummer are right on it. Your singer does a great job too - Fagen has such a unique voice that covers never seem to sound right! I like the twist he puts on it. Brass section did a fantastic job too. Great job all round mate!

+1 for the Boomstick Bottom Feeder. I have one of the early versions when it was the ToneFactor 442 Red. I would also recommend the original Musitronics Mutron III, the Subdecay Proteus and Prometheus, and the Maxon AF-9. The AF-9 is really Mutronish and will get you in the ballpark for a lot less money. Another cheap and cheerful one to try out would be the DOD FX25. Really cool pedal. Out of the list I've given, the only one I don't currently own is the AF-9, and the only reason for that is that I have the Original Mutron. Although if one came up cheap I'd probably nab it anyway! In case you can't tell....I LOVE Envelope Filters

Clarky you've got every right to be proud mate. Absolutely perfect tone, intonation and feel! Love the tune too, really refreshing after hearing some of the absolute drivel polluting the airwaves at the moment. Well done!

FS: Jazz Bass Parts
great playing Hig... great music too.. bass sounds awsome, like its got a preamp in it...
Thanks dude - I am in fact running into a PJB Bass Buddy so it's not just the bass running into the soundcard, but it is your typical growly jazz bass sound, and I must also mention that it has the lowest action out of any of my basses. When I had it put together, my tech said he had put almost NO relief in the neck, because it didn't buzz at all no matter how much he lowered the strings! So it's almost dead flat, making fretting an absolute breeze all over the neck, and no buzzing anywhere!
It does indeed sound awesome, great bite - my ideal jazz bass tone...can I cheekily ask if the Model Js are wired internally each in series or parallel?
I have no idea to be honest, when I bought the body, it was already fully loaded, but the neck pickup was disconnected. I asked my tech to wire it in the way normal Jazz basses were wired, so whatever that is, it's done like that!
Any chance you will split the parts? I'm looking for a loaded Jazz body, and this would be ideal!
It's a possibility, but I'd prefer to keep it as a whole bass at the moment. Should I have any interest in the neck and tuners I will consider it. Thanks for your interest! -
Phil Jones Bass Buddy? Nice sounding preamp with DI, also has mp3 in so you can mix it into your headphones for learning new songs, I love mine!
This. Well worth it. Mine gets used almost daily!

Ok so I have these 3 pedals, all in pretty decent condition. No boxes or manuals. I'd like £35 for the EHX and £40 each for the other 2. Buy all 3 and I'll do it for £105. Pictures available on request, I just don't have them to hand right now. Pretty flexible on price to be honest as I just need a bit of cash and these aren't getting used, but keep your offers reasonable please, no lowballs. BOSS FZ-3 STILL AVAILABLE *BOSS LS-2 SOLD* *EHX NYC BIG MUFF TRADED* Also have a Tech21 VTBass that I'm not using, but I'm less inclined to part with it. I'm placing a value of £110 on it, so if you want it, trades of equivalent value or £110 posted. Not willing to move much on this price as it's not something I really want to let go unless I get my full asking price, or a decent trade offer. *VTBASS SOLD* Tradewise I'm pretty flexible, just run anything by me, although I have been on the lookout for: Aguilar Filter Twin MXR Bass Envelope Filter Boss OC-2 Overdrives/Distortions/Fuzzes Comfort Strap (Short Version) Good quality gig bags George L's Cables Cheers

Muse, Plug In Baby.... anybody got the dots for it?
Higgie replied to thepurpleblob's topic in Theory and Technique
I don't know why it's uploaded with that file extension. If you open it with a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader it should open fine! Let me know if it doesn't and I'll try and convert it to a different format. -
Nice board. How do you find the Octamizer? I wonder if it would do a better job than the EBS one that I use? I run my Sadowsky at the start of the signal chain, how come you run yours at the end? Is the Loopmaster Patcher purely for tidiness purposes?
Octamizer is wicked. Ousted the good old OC2 from my board anyhow! I just love the fact you have tone controls for both the octave and clean signal. Makes for a really versatile Octaver! The Sadowsky goes at the end because it seemed to act funny with my fuzz pedal. I like to use it as a Mute too, so I figured the end of the chain would be best. Might have to experiment a bit more with it! And yeah, the LoopMaster unit just makes it easier to route my cables by having both jacks coming from the same place.
WHATTTT? How did you do that dude?!
I'm not even sure I did now. I was getting a horrendous sound out of the cab the night after the gig, so I bought these. Plugged the cab in today and it sounded fine! Oh well, least I have some spares now if anything does blow up

Haven't updated this for a while! This is the board I've been using lately. Signal chain is: Bass > Aguilar TLC > Aguilar Octamizer > MojoHand Cream Pie > X-Blender (Swollen Pickle Clone > Subdecay Proteus in the loop) > Sadowsky Pre (Korg DT-10 from Tuner Out) > Aguilar DB750 The whole board is in a LoopMaster Patcher to make things neater, with my In and Out from the board in one place. It's a PedalTrain Jnr with a Diago Power Station powering the whole board. Also, the little grey unit with the pick holder on is a 1 in, 2 out passive splitter I used to use when I had a bigger board. I velcro'd my pick holder to it for a convenient place to store my picks - I had no use for it's actual function on this board but there was space for it, so I put it on there anyway Some excellent boards posted here! Shep your boards are awesome! The only thing about them I don't envy is the weight!

Muse, Plug In Baby.... anybody got the dots for it?
Higgie replied to thepurpleblob's topic in Theory and Technique
Here ya go dude. Got a load of Muse scores that I found on the web somewhere, so if you need any more, just ask! It's notated for EADG, but just play it down the octave or with an octave pedal and you're good to go! -
Haha! Cheers guys!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6z5180CHXlU Probably my favourite Chili Peppers track - great bass work in this one! Here's my mediocre attempt at it
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=596vdEUpBL4 Not entirely happy with this one, my pick playing is probably my weakest area. Gonna redo it at some point, but in the mean time...here ya go!

Really enjoyed this actually. Well shot video, and a pretty cool groove! Like the singer's voice too. They did a good job!
