1.
I have three pickguards from OLP MM2 Stingray basses that I don't need. All used, but good condition. 2x white/black/white 3-ply 1x black/white/black 3-ply Looking for £8 each delivered.
Do these fit standard EBMM SR4's? Cheers
 2.
When our beloved OldGit had his Shuker P5 built, he had the LED switch housed in the battery box surround on the back. OK so it meant that you had to take the bass off to switch them on/off, but that's when you do it anyway, right? It was a neat idea and kept the front of the bass clean. Another idea possibly worth pursuing... how about having a push/pull switch on the volume knob and using this as your ac/pas switch? That's what Jon did for my LED switch. If you had a push/pull and the OldGit LED switch idea, you'd only need to find space for one actual flick switch on the front of the bass. Much cleaner.
That's what I'd do. I'd probably use another of the knobs as a push/pull for the LEDs though, that way everything would be easy to access on the front of the bass. Volume and Active/Passive on one knob, Balance, Bass, and then Push/Pull on the Treble pot to turn the LED's on. Well, depending on which knob would be furthest away. I personally would use layout 2, and have the kill switch in the middle somewhere, if you're just going to use it to mute the Bass. I'd relocate it if you were going for some Tom Morello style kill switch madness
 3.
Indeed Now Sold, many thanks
Just my luck
 4. This is killing me. I don't think I've ever had more GAS for a bass. Seriously if I hadn't just lost my job, I'd be getting a credit card just to nab this baby. I'm so gutted
 5. I had this problem too. Switched the Pickup out for a Nordstrand MM4.2 - Problem solved! It's a faithful recreation of a Pre-EB Stingray pickup, and I must say it sounds fantastic! So much so, that as soon as I bought my fretless, I didn't even try it with the stock pickup. I'd bought another pickup before the bass even arrived, and just had it put straight in. No regrets whatsoever
 6.
yes, the Bassballs alone can sometimes lose a bit of "bassiness". The micro Q-tron alone can be a bit too loud... So I have them both in a loop with a Boss LS-2. This allows me 1) to adjust the final volume, and 2) to blend the effected signal with the dry signal. To my ears the result is very good. I was not really intending to replicate the SPS sound, but I thought it sounded close, so I then fiddled with it until I got the sound I wanted.
Awesome - Sounds good dude! Look forward to hearing it. I'm not much of a guitar player, but I thought I'd try and do a fully fledged cover of the track, seeing as I had the Bass and Drums done already: Sir Psycho Sexy WIP Comments and criticisms welcomed
 7.
All good Higgie. If the drum beat was a bit slower it'd be more dubstep… the beat is pretty close. I like the bass line, has a funk rock feel to it.
Cheers Shep - I must admit I'm a massive newbie in this area, so it's encouraging to hear that from you I listened to your stuff the other day - "Awesome" doesn't come close!
Also, Higgie, I should say that I like it!
Haha, thanks for clarifying Dan
 8.
that's sweet indeed! I should post my results with the micro Q-tron + bassballs combo. Not to compete! just to add another flavour.
Cheers Yeah would be great to hear! I used to have a BassBalls and it did do this kind of sound good, but I just found it lost a bit of low end. Still very interested to hear it!
 9.
Aeroplane and Coffee Shop for me....Awesome tunes. Although BSSM is my favourite album overall, those are my 2 favourite tracks. Sir Psycho Sexy does it for me too though....Fuzz and a DOD FX25 gets me closer to that sound than anything else I've heard!
Thought I'd try and back up that claim... 11. I'm currently using Reaper, still getting to grips with it really, so just chucked a quick beat together and added a couple of variations. My Analogman Chorus isn't on my board at the mo, which is the only reason I didn't use it. I'll go get it and record something! Maybe get a bit of analog delay in there? Cheers for the crits.
 12. Ok so just a quick little demo I just knocked up using a couple of my pedals. I want to get into some LFO stuff eventually, but until budget allows I can't do much! This is my Fender/Allparts passive jazz, going into an Aguilar Octamizer with the clean signal completely off. Then I kick in an XBlender with a Swollen Pickle clone and Subdecay Proteus in the loop. The second sound I switch to is exactly the same, I just go from the sample and hold mode into filter mode on the Proteus. It's set as more of an EQ shaper than a filter, just emphasizing certain frequencies. I know it's not fantastic, as I've never really done anything in the drum and bass/dubstep vein, but I'd like to get into it so all comments and criticism will be graciously accepted! DNB Track DNB (Bass track only) Let me know what you think!
 13. Sorry I couldn't make this in the end guys. Sounds like you all had fun without me anyway! Let me know when the next one is and I'll try my best to be there!
 14.
So I finally got a chance to use my DB750 & one of my DB112's at rehearsals with some decent volume last night. After a bit of tweaking (cut the tweeter right out on the cab, some mid boost on the head and a bit more bias to neck pickup on my '86 Fodera) it sounded just amazing. Cut through the mix really well and I could hear myself so clearly. I continually found myself turning down because my 'perceived' volume was louder than I'm used to. The rest of the band said I wasn't overly loud so it must have been those rich mids I was hearing A couple of people said how nice it sounded and our sound man compared it really favourably to the last session he worked on where the sound was, apparently, a puddle of mud, lol. Anyway, just wanted to share. . .
DB750 and 2 DB212's here...I know the feeling
 15. Both excellent pedals. And that Echo Park is a STEAL at that price. If I didn't already own both I'd buy 'em
 16. Yeah been in contact with Dan at the GigRig. That was gonna be my first point of call, but just haven't got the money to spend on the repair yet - especially not knowing how much it will cost. Just thought I'd see if there were any other guys out there. Max at SFX is a good shout, I'll PM him.
 17. I had a Roland Jet Phaser at one point. Awesome sound, but lost a bit of low end I found. Would be awesome in an X-Blender. You can get pretty close running a fuzz into a phaser.
 18.
You have my sympathies with the job loss Higgie, I was in the same situation this time last year. Finance yup I do that. 1 payment up front for the full amount! Hope something turns up for you soon. Andy
I see what you did there. Unfortunately that setup doesn't help me out I would wish you luck with the sale.....But that goes against my dreams of owning this bass, so....
 19.
Sounding very cool matey!
Cheers Kev!
Really great playing, and I absolutely love the sound of a Stingray with flats-like strings. Amazing song and delightful bassline as well.
Thanks! I don't think it was a particularly good attempt lol. It was late last night, and I was well tired. I had to redo the middle bit as I buggered it up on the first run through. So it's literally just 2 takes, the middle bit, and the rest of the song! It does sound quite nice on second thoughts, but I really prefer the zingy kind of sound on the record!
Fantastic job. I remember learning this and having to go and lie down in a darkened room every half an hour.
Cheers Pete! Nice to hear coming from a great bass player who plays Steely Dan in a tribute act! Is there anything I'm playing there that sounds wrong? There's a couple notes in the Middle 8 before the jazzy riff that I'm still not sure on....
Great playing mate, I'm sufficiently impressed! In fact you've just inspired me to go and record some Steely Dan stuff later on.
Cheers dude! Post it up here when you're done, I'd love to have a listen. I might have a go at Peg or Josie next
 20. I love this If I hadn't lost my job last month I'd have been chomping at the bit to get this. Any chance you'd do finance?
 21. Just finished this: Gaslighting Abbie Not perfect, there's a couple syncing issues and the odd bum note. Was just a quick demo thrown together to test out my new Audio Interface (courtesy of chriswilliams666), and the Addictive Drums VSTi in Reaper. Maple Neck Musicman Stingray 5 with dead strings and a high action. It was recorded direct with no effects added. It badly needs a setup.... Let me know what you think
 22. You're very welcome. +1 on the community spirit. This forum has such a great bunch of members, I'd never doubt that if I was in a spot of bother, some kind soul on here would come to my rescue. The community is what we make it, so it just goes to show that there ARE some decent people left in the world!
 23. Thanks for the reply. Already been through them, it was going to be so expensive to look at, that even if they couldn't fix it, it'd cost a bomb. Might just put it up on eBay as not working, and see if I get any bites. The sale would go towards the cost of another one!
