1.
Fretless MM played with a pick through an octave pedal (a bit of chorus won't go amiss either).
That's exactly what I do. Fretless Stingray, Boss OC-2, Analogman Chorus. I play it with fingers though cos I suck with a pick
2. Don't know if this counts, but I had a Lakland DJ4 and a DJ5 at the same time. Also used to have triplets in that I had a Stingray 4, a Fretless Stingray 4 and a Stingray 5 The 5 is gone now, but I still have the Fretted and Fretless 4's
3.
did this sell?
Not yet! Still for sale
4. Wow. Didn't expect the Phaser to be second cheapest!! Tube Phaser...sounds interesting!
5. I have no idea what kinda price these usually go for, but that green fretless is particularly fetching
6. That is gonna be one seriously nice bass. I'm absolutely in love with my Shuker jazz, and that orange colour is awesome. Hope it turns out to be exactly what you were after
7. I always try to keep all my gear in tip top condition. Whatever condition I acquire them in is how I want to keep it. For example, my Stingrays are both in immaculate condition, you'd never know they were 2nd hand. My 1982 P-Bass on the other hand has loads of knocks and dings. My Shuker is somewhere in the middle, only having a couple of very minor dings. They all receive the same amount of love and care, no matter what condition. As long as I personally haven't done any damage to them, I'm a happy bunny
8. Hi guys, Here for sale is my Dad's 75 Re-issue Jazz. It's a lovely playing and sounding bass, but after playing my Shuker my Dad has decided he wants one of them, and needs to shift this to pay for it It's natural with a black pickguard, maple neck and fingerboard with black block markers and binding. It's in mint condition, so looking for around £850. Buyer pays postage, although pick up would be preferred! Dad's phone number/email can be obtained via PM, if you would like to speak with him directly without having to go through me Cheers James
9.
I use a MAxon AF9 and that has buckets and buckets of low end. Also have an MXR auto-Q nice sound, just the one and very different from the Maxon, so much so that both together is also very cool.
+1. I've owned both in the past (Auto Q twice!) and they're both fantastic pedals. If I'm ever in a state where money is no object I'll probably get both, or a Prometheus as this can do everything both units can, just not at the same time.
10. I've been a long time user of the Korg DT-10 also, but recently the footswitch has started going on mine. A friend of mine warned me it would happen as he has been through about 3 or 4 switches, but I'd never heard of it happening before, and now it's started happening to mine. It's never let me down in any other way before though. Think I might just have to take the plunge on a Strobostomp!
11. Lovely colour. And I love the white pickup! I miss my SR5 Wish I had something I was willing to trade. Free Bump!
12.
'Cos I've got another one! I can only play one at a time.................. Really glad you like her! I suppose I'm really more of an active man at heart. Cheers, Bob
I see! Bloody hell, if the one you sent me was the LOSER of the 2, you are one lucky son of a...
13. The colour on that bass is immense. REALLY wish I had the cash now after seeing those last couple of pics
14. Ok I forgot to take the family shot But after having this bass for a for a few days now and not having stopped playing it, I can attest that it is one of the greatest feeling and sounding Jazz basses I have ever played. Why Bob wanted to sell it is beyond me!!
15. Fantastic looking (and I bet sounding!) rig there Steve. Congrats!
16. If I had the scratch I'd jump on this immediately. Lovely colour! Cheers and good luck with the sale!
17. Very true. I am teaching tomorrow so once I've transported my gear downstairs I will take a new family shot
18. Thanks Simon. I really couldn't be more happy with it. My Dad has played it and absolutely loves it too! He is now thinking of getting one made by Jon! Haha. One of these days I'm sure I'm gonna wake up, with my room looted and a mysterious note from my Dad saying he and my basses have gone
19. Wow. Can't say I'm suprised your selling it as I know you too well But Jesus why would you do it?! This holy Grail your after must be something special. Will it cook you breakfast the morning after the gig? Perhaps wipe your arse when you can't be bothered? Those are the only things your Sadowsky can't do so I guess it must be one of the two
20.
Nice bass, James! I looked at that one a few times when it was on the stock pages of the Shuker website a while back. Nice score What's it like, then?
Its absolutely gorgeous mate. The A string is a little loose in the nut I think, but that's due to the light guage strings that are on it. Once I get some medium or heavys on there it should be fine. I'm very impressed with the Villex pickups and controls. Don't think I've ever heard or played a more versatile passive bass. Through my PJB Bass Buddy with headphones the thing sounds unreal. Crisp but powerful slap tone, meaty fingerstyle, grindy pick tone...the lot. Jaco, Marcus, etc all in a passive bass. It's amazing. Plays alot better than my CIJ did, and has 21 frets which is ideal for me! (always thought it was stupid to only go up to Eb when the bass has an E string). All in all it's a blinding bass, and once I get a Hipshot Detuner for it I can see it taking some gigs off the Stingray!
21. Bought Bob's Shuker Jazz from him. A fantastic guy to deal with, and a great bass too! Thanks Bob - Really couldn't be happier! My Dad has fallen in love with it as well, already asking to borrow it for a gig or 2!! I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on my basses now...I got a feeling Dad's plotting to rob me
22. Little update from me! Sold on the CIJ Jazz as I just wasn't getting on with it, and had GAS for this! My new Shuker Jazz.
23. Probably my favourite bassist of all time. He just never fails at playing exceptionally good lines in whatever he plays on, no matter what the style. It's always just perfect for the song. I know he recounts Jaco as one of his major influences, but like a few others here, Jaco just doesn't do it for me, while Pino just slays me every time!
