1. I have both volumes of the Jamiroquai transcription books and I must say they are asbolutely superb. Fantastic work by Simon (who is also a member here). Highly recommended.
2. http://www.youtube.com/user/Higgie1423 Added "I Wish" and "Sledgehammer" to my Channel. I want to re-do the Sledgehammer vid because I'm not that happy with it - Just did it now but the lighting is terrible so you can't see much. I'll have to re-record tomorrow morning while its light
3. Well yeah obviously. But nothing that I added intentionally to make it sound any better
4. Thanks very much Chris I appreciate that coming from someone who predominantly plays fretless. Only effects I had on was a Mojohand Cream Pie overdrive set to minimum gain for a fattening of the clean tone, then into a Boss OC-2. No compression or anything else added, just recorded via webcam and then uploaded to YouTube
5. I posted this in the "Recordings" forum, but thought I'd post it here as well as it seemed appropriate for the thread Here's my take on the track mentioned above: Admittedly the intonation isn't perfect - I haven't had the fretless long and I'm still getting to grips with it. Also I don't know why the video and audio aren't in Sync. Not quite sure what to do to fix it so will have to leave it as is for now!!
6. Thanks mate, much appreciated I had to play very conciously indeed...The output on both my Stingrays is so hot it usually distorts the buffer in the OC-2 even in bypass if I dig in too much!
7.
So, your amp worked fine from plugged directly into your bass - but not when plugged through his [s]Heath Robinson[/s] Robinson Cruesoe setup . . . aaaand that's your amps fault? Right!
Fixed
8. Thanks Ped Haha sod off Steve
9. I'm sorry for the latency issue but I don't know how to solve it! It's my first vid and I've only had the fretless a couple months so sorry for the intonation issues also...
10. Not likely. You'd receive a Sledgehammer to the head and get dumped at the bottom of Solsbury Hill
11. Ugh...If this were near London you'd have found your man.
12. If I didn't already have one I'd have been selling anything I could to afford this Looks like a gorgeous bass, and if it's anything like mine should play like a dream as well. Good luck with the sale.
13.
I think having two boards is the way to go. A gigging board and a fun/experiment board. I am looking at doing something similar as there is only a few effects i use live but i love messing around and getting new sounds. Good work and nice board Higgie.
Yup, 2 boards is great. Although I think I want a 3rd And thanks for the kind words
14. The original Fat Boost is a fantastic pedal...I loved mine when I had it
15. I set the EQ on my 3 Band Stingray (Bass about 75% up, mids about 60% and treble about 75%) then boost all 4 bands by just a touch on the amp for some extra oomph. Then I set the input gain on my AG500SC till it's JUST clipping then back it off a bit. Whack up the output volume to suit and off we go
16.
A bit beaten up!!!! If I knew you'd have paid more then Id have charged you more!!!! My biggest regret bass wise was selling this, If you can overlook the squire label its one hell of a bass. Glad you are still enjoying my pride and joy Higgie God bless you
It really is my secret weapon bass! I use my Stingrays because they seem to fit my band a little bit better with the stuff we do, but any chance I get to play this bad boy I do!
17. I have a 3 band EQ 2006 Stingray and a 1989 3 band Stingray Fretless - They are both gorgeous. Only problem I've had is a lacking G string when playing live. Swapped out the pickup in the 06 fretted for a Nordstrand 4.2 and been happy ever since. Didn't try the fretless live before making the swap, but decided to put one in anyway as I reasoned that it probably wouldn't sound any worse than the original, even if there wasn't a problem in the first place
18. Had a gig last night and the sound was just THERE. I don't know what I was thinking. WITHDRAWN.
19. My guitarist and I (http://www.myspace.com/tornband) are depping for guitarist Mike Casswell and bassist Phil Williams from East of Java (http://www.myspace.com/eastofjavamusic) down the Sutton Arms, so if your in the area and haven't got anything to do, come and see us
20.
Speaking of Pino, I would recommend that you dig out the first 2 Go West Albums ('Go West' and 'Dancing On The Couch'). Perhaps not the most obvious 'fretless' tunes but man, can that guy play a tasty, tight bassline. Essential listening for all fretless players in my opinion! Cheers Matt
As I said in my previous post...Jaco who? Pino is the king of fretless IMO
21. I use OBBM instrument leads and couldn't be happier. The speakons I use haven't packed up yet, so haven't had the need to get any from him, but my Dad uses all OBBM stuff and he's very pleased
22.
I might be interested in the Aguilar GS112 cab if you know what sort of price you are after. PM me if you have an idea. Thanks.
They're DB cabs, by the way not GS And Dubs, I'm not really looking to sell at present as I'd need replacement cabs straight away - Unless I could sort out some cabs to buy ASAP. Make me an offer, worst I can do is say no
23. Been meaning to get new pics for a while That's the current band board, now that Toasted's MSD wah has landed Bass>Cream Pie>OC-2>XBlender (Swollen pickle clone in the loop)>Analogman Chorus>DT-10>MSD Wah There's the fun board...PT2 with the rest of my pedals on it. Not wired up or anything, I just plug each pedal in whenever I feel like using them. Been trying to get the band board sorted out first as that's the priority, but will hopefully get round to finishing it off soon. G Labs Wah pad - Bought off here recently, will be using it as a TB loop for my Whammy Digitech WH-1 original whammy Crowther Prunes and Custard Montgomery Appliances '77 Flanger - clone of the original A/DA flanger with a few upgraded features. Without a doubt the best flanger i've heard or used, Toasted is selling one in the FS section - grab it while you still can! EHX US BassBalls Catalinbread Serrano clean boost Catalinbread Valcoder tremolo Atomic Echo Clone - Original Way Huge Aqua Puss, just in a different enclosure, and therefore a fraction of the price Original Musitronics Mutron III - The funkiest filter ever made PS. Sorry for the bad quality pics...Had to use my webcam
24.
Arrrgggghh! This is my dream rig! Not in any position to make an offer at the moment though - dang Unless you've lost your mind and wouldn't mind straight swapping for a LittleMark250 and a GS112?.... Good luck with the sale mate! Eude
Haha, sorry mate, but I haven't gone THAT crazy...yet!
25. Just awesome isn't it? In my opinion, Pino is the greatest fretless bass player. Jaco who?
