1. The Aguilar cab came in today, so as promised: A quick rundown: Basses (L-R): Musicman Stingray 5 w/ Nordstrand 5.2 pickup Musicman Stingray 4 w/ Nordstrand 4.2 pickup and Hipshot Detuner Squier JV P Bass w/ Dimarzio Model P pickup Lakland DJ4 w/ J Retro, Aero pickups and Hipshot Detuner Rig: Aguilar AG500SC w/ Chocolate Thunder Headcase Aguilar DB112 in Chocolate Thunder Aguilar DB112NT in Chocolate Thunder (No Tweeter) Pedals (R-L): Boss OC-2 Tonefactor TB Edition Cream Pie Xotic X-Blender>Send BYOC Swollen Pickle/Muff clone Crowther Prunes and Custard Return>Xotic Korg DT-10BK tuner I only gig the Stingray 4 currently as it seems to fit the bill for the stuff I play, and with the Detuner means it can cope with both tunings we play in (Standard and Drop D). Haven't had the need to go any lower yet, but as soon as we do, that's where the 5 will come in
2.
I always wanted one of these just because it's a really nice colour. I've no use for a phaser though. Maybe I could house something else in it!
That'd be a REALLY big waste of £160 though lol. Not to mention this is one of the best phasers out there.
3. My new Aguilar DB112NT arrives today, so pics of the gigging rig when it does!
4.
Hey! Great minds, an' all that! Hope it's given you the inspiration to finish yours off! The Nordstrands are great, and a friend of mine has a Sadowski pre on his and he absolutely swears by it. The pickups and pre should work like a dream together. Thanks for the nice comments. I can't wait to see yours now!
It'll be a little while yet I reckon! Great minds indeed!
5. I bought my DB112NT earlier today, so should be here in the next 12 hours or so Pics coming soon
6. Price drop. £100 collected.
7.
Oh, bum conkers, I want that Malekko but it's too dear for me. It's the bright I want, not the dark. Nad batter.
Make me an offer
I saw on the Melekko website that the 600B isn't compatible with the 1Spot type power supplies, but would it work with one of the AC-DC brick types, with multiple outputs? Cheers Rich
Those bricks are basically a 1 Spot in a box, so no! Battery, or some kind of isolated power supply will be needed. I'd advise buying an isolated supply like the Pedal Power 2 or Burkey Flatliner, but the cheapest option (aside from buying a seperate wall-wart) is the GigRig Virtual Battery. It plugs in between your power supply and pedal, and effectively isolates that output.
8. No matter what rig your using, this thing can become a part of it. I was planning to use this as the patcher between my boards. I had it on my band board, which was OC-2>Cream Pie>Barge(Swollen Pickle clone in the first loop)>Tuner all on a pedaltrain mini. This means I had 2 different blend settings for my fuzz, then all I had to do was plug the send and return into the in and out on my second board, and it serves as the perfect link to put everything in before the tuner, amd also means I can blend my second board at different levels to my fuzz, but also means all I have to do is unplug 2 leads and then I could just grab the small board for grab 'n' go gigging!
9.
So that Barge box is two loops in series, each with two switchable blend settings? You can't blend the two loops together?
No they are both seperate. You can blend them, but you'd be running whatever is in Loop A into Loop B as well. It's basically 2 of the same pedals in one. You could place a pedal between loops as they have individual ins and outs. Or you could run different loops/basses to different amps, etc. The possibilities are endless!
10. Ok here we have a Custom VFB pedal. Here's the original info from when I bought it a few weeks ago:
Barge Concepts Custom VFB - This is a custom made VFB, and instead of having the feedback loop, the pedal housing is slightly larger, but houses two blend circuits. The reason for the larger enclosure is because each of the loops works independent of the other. Each loop has dedicated in, out, send, and return jacks (you can route the two loops in any order on a pedalboard, or cascade them one into another) as well as two blend amount pots that are selected A/B style via a footswitch (with red/blue labels and a red/blue LED to indicate the pot used), there is also a variable impedance pot on each of the loops as well.
Barge Concepts now make a pedal as standard that performs this, the DVB-2, but this is 2 DVB-2's in one box, with an impedance control for each loop, allowing actives to work with ANY fuzz. I need to fund a new Aguilar cab, so anything surplus to requirements has to go. A standard DVB-2 is $125 + shipping and import duty, so this is a steal at [s]£140[/s] [s]£105 + postage[/s] CHRISTMAS BARGAIN: £105 posted. Cheers
11. The bass is very light! Lighter than every other bass I own.
12.
+1 After having owned the EBS Multicomp and the Demeter Compulator, the Compulator is the one for me too... very transparent, low noise and easy to use, it's great bit if kit
+1 Haven't owned the MultiComp, but I've tried it and definitely prefer my Demeter
13. I've had 2 Skyline basses, a DJ4, and a DJ5, and my dad had a DD. My DJ4 is HEAVY, heavier than the aforementioned DJ5. It's also very well put together, and plays like a dream! I love it, even though it's heavy. It's not going anwhere! The DJ5 I eventually sold on as it just wasn't right for my current band (now the happy owner of a SR5) but it was a lovely bass to play, and was every bit as good as the DJ4! The DD I had the least experience with, but before I got my JV P, the DD was going to be my bass of choice when I was looking for a P bass, as I loved it so much, especially with a Jazz neck on it, but the JV was cheaper, and now I don't see any reason to get one, as this JV is a real gem!
14. Really nice build there. We must have similar tastes as my Warmoth build (which has been sitting in the corner of my room for a while also!) is nearing completion, and it's very similar to yours! Same body, same colour, with a Bad Ass II, but mine will be fretless (got a fretless ebony/maple neck), have Nordstrand NJ4SV pickups and a Sadowsky Pre-Amp. Again, lovely build, looks like a great bass, just can't wait to get mine finished. It's my first fretless, and I'm lookin forward to rocking some Pino, Jaco etc
15.
Ooooh lovely! This is making me very very excited - my GS112 cab should arrive at the Bass Merchant this week, then I'll get it next week! Been waiting for what feels like forever. Has been a couple of weeks. Was so tempted by a White Hot DB112... Nice to hear that a few people on here are using Aguilar 1x12 cabs with Markbass heads and liking the results...
I hear ya. I've been in contact with the Bass Merchant about a DB112NT in Chocolate Thunder, and the only one they had left in stock was sold just before I was ready to buy it. They told me they'd have a new shipment in 3 weeks, about 6 weeks ago. I'd keep your fingers crossed if I were you - I know that'll hinder your playing for a bit but it will be worth it when the cab turns up
16. Wow. Some serious amplification there. An Original Whammy AND a Bass Whammy too, respect to you sir!
17. I've already got a Stingray 5, but this is gorgeous. Trade for my Stingray 5? It's Trans red, maple neck, and a Nordstrand 5.2 pickup
18. I said I'd never sell it as it's the first bass I ever bought with my own money, but at the end of the day, I need cash, it's not getting used, and it's taking up space. Anyone who's played these basses knows they are cracking instruments for the price, and they are ideal for that backup bass that you don't have to worry about when you don't want to take your pride and joy It's the blue one above - Obviously as you can see I liked the bass so much when it was my main bass I bought the 5 string version of it too It's in pretty good condition, the only issue is the volume pot has come loose. It still works perfectly, but it just wobbles in it's socket. Couple of dings here and there, but nothing noticeable from more than 3 feet away Looking for [s]£120[/s] £SOLD. Can arrange postage at buyer's cost!
19. Ok haven't managed to take a pic yet but the guitar I'd like to buy is finishing on eBay in 2 hours. £80 for a quick sale! It's in fine condition, only been used in my room since I got it a couple years ago, and used sparingly at that!! Cheers
