  1. That's not a requirement of ownership! But just to be on the safe side... Are you a Doctor?
  2. What an excellent post @Bilbo. Having been transcribing for a few years myself, I absolutely concur with a lot of what you have written here. Especially the part about slowing tracks down to try and hear the individual note and it still not being clear! I wouldn't like to know the amount of time I've spent replaying a fraction of a second over and over, before I finally write it as a ghost note out of exasperation! 😂 Also what you say about players "dropping in" and not recording everything in one take is spot on. I think we can all be pretty hard on ourselves when we don't nail a song all the way through, but what a lot of players should know is that most songs of the last 50 years would probably have been recorded in sections, over multiple takes, and then the best takes of each section composited together. Not to say that you shouldn't strive to nail everything in one take, as that is the aim of the game (for me), but the key is not to be too hard on yourself when it doesn't happen. Everyone makes mistakes! Another interesting thing to note is tone and timing. I've been very surprised and underwhelmed by a lot of the "isolated bass" tracks you can find floating about on YouTube. Some of the bass tones sound awful in isolation, but in the mix they are absolutely awesome, and the same goes for timing. Something that sounds pretty ropey on its own can, once in the mix with the other instruments, appear to be near perfect! Again, great post, and thanks for sharing your work and wisdom with the other members here.
  3. It’s super cool. Certainly has the most features of any filter i’ve played, and for the price is INSANE value
  4. Up for sale is a Dr Scientist Dusk. It's a really cool envelope filter, auto wah, and cutoff filter pedal with tons of sounds and modes. Expression pedal control, tap tempo, MIDI, as well as 4 presets that can be saved to the pedal itself. All in all, one of the most versatile and controllable filters I've come across. Its in absolutely MINT condition and has the box/manual/trinkets and accessories (stickers and picks) that came with it when new. In other words, exactly as you'd expect to get it from a shop, save for the fact I have already added the velcro for you! £150 posted snags this beast! 5. www.kytary.co.uk are doing up to 50% off on some items. Their Sadowsky strings are 20% off for example, which brings the 5 string sets to £20 each, and the 4 string sets just £17. Their prices are pretty decent anyway, so a black friday sale from them is most welcome!
  6. John Mayer medley. Trying my best to sound and play somewhere between Pino and Dave LaBruyere. Hope you enjoy! https://fb.watch/1WparfnIcf/
  7. Thanks mate! It’s not 100% accurate (neither is the video) as it was pretty hard to hear what he was playing in some places, but here it is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gmTD9TzkLpssz05YQXANKQRZqAu1LmQ2/view?usp=drivesdk
  8. Recorded this in September of 2019 but never got round to uploading it to YouTube. My cover of Andrew Gouché’s bass part on a live version of Ain’t Nobody from the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2011. Hope you enjoy!
  9. https://m.thomann.de/gb/ns_design_wav4_db_ab_double_bass.htm?o=5&search=1605459637 - £1159 https://m.thomann.de/gb/ns_design_tripod_stand.htm - £221 Brand new price on these items is £1380. Save yourself over 50% by buying from me 😁
  10. I'm not familiar with that MIDI controller, but you have to program the switch to send the relevant MIDI message to scroll up and down. Regarding the Tuner/Tap Tempo footswitch, go to the Footswitch settings in the Global Settings, you can then change FS3 to "Stomp 3".
  11. As @Jack said, unless you use a TRS to XLR adaptor, there is absolutely no benefit of using an adaptor in the first place. The outs of the Stomp are both balanced, but to take advantage of that fact, you would need to use a TRS adaptor.
  12. Recently serviced (as in, last week) bump!
  13. Yeah that’s just the one jack. You’d need two, and some mic cable, but means you can have the exact cable you need, length and orientation-wise
  14. Quite expensive, but I made my own using Switchcraft MIDI jacks. They can be rotated when you build them so can be any of 8 different angles. I use mine with the HX Stomp also. https://www.designacable.com/angled-5-pin-din-switchcraft-05dl5mx-adjustable-angles.html?gclid=CjwKCAiAqJn9BRB0EiwAJ1SztUi2PJeLvpWKQqY0P-SQJiStHxpRrV2eaVP_vuNA00ThEmvWi7KniBoC7-QQAvD_BwE
  15. I use the DVP4. Its great! You have to fiddle with the settings on the Stomp a bit as the Dunlop is TRS and the Stomp is expecting TS, but mine works perfectly!
  16. Pretty sure this belonged to me. It's without doubt the best bass wah I've ever had the pleasure of using. Great price too. I paid considerably more for it!
  17. May be worth looking into the new Sadowsky Metro Express.
  18. I've noticed this too. I remember when you could snap up a Stingray 5 in great condition with a hard case for about £700!
  19. Yeah that's what the adaptor I mentioned is for. Or you could just use a TRS cable if the desk has TRS inputs. 99/100 the sound man will have an XLR, so I made myself a couple of adaptors.
  20. Even if you do need an XLR out, just get/make a TRS to XLR adaptor and send one of the L/R Outputs straight to the desk. The Stomp has balanced outputs so no DI box is needed!
