+1 After having owned the EBS Multicomp and the Demeter Compulator, the Compulator is the one for me too... very transparent, low noise and easy to use, it's great bit if kit
+1 Haven't owned the MultiComp, but I've tried it and definitely prefer my Demeter

I've had 2 Skyline basses, a DJ4, and a DJ5, and my dad had a DD. My DJ4 is HEAVY, heavier than the aforementioned DJ5. It's also very well put together, and plays like a dream! I love it, even though it's heavy. It's not going anwhere! The DJ5 I eventually sold on as it just wasn't right for my current band (now the happy owner of a SR5) but it was a lovely bass to play, and was every bit as good as the DJ4! The DD I had the least experience with, but before I got my JV P, the DD was going to be my bass of choice when I was looking for a P bass, as I loved it so much, especially with a Jazz neck on it, but the JV was cheaper, and now I don't see any reason to get one, as this JV is a real gem!

Really nice build there. We must have similar tastes as my Warmoth build (which has been sitting in the corner of my room for a while also!) is nearing completion, and it's very similar to yours! Same body, same colour, with a Bad Ass II, but mine will be fretless (got a fretless ebony/maple neck), have Nordstrand NJ4SV pickups and a Sadowsky Pre-Amp. Again, lovely build, looks like a great bass, just can't wait to get mine finished. It's my first fretless, and I'm lookin forward to rocking some Pino, Jaco etc
Ooooh lovely! This is making me very very excited - my GS112 cab should arrive at the Bass Merchant this week, then I'll get it next week! Been waiting for what feels like forever. Has been a couple of weeks. Was so tempted by a White Hot DB112... Nice to hear that a few people on here are using Aguilar 1x12 cabs with Markbass heads and liking the results...
I hear ya. I've been in contact with the Bass Merchant about a DB112NT in Chocolate Thunder, and the only one they had left in stock was sold just before I was ready to buy it. They told me they'd have a new shipment in 3 weeks, about 6 weeks ago. I'd keep your fingers crossed if I were you - I know that'll hinder your playing for a bit but it will be worth it when the cab turns up

Wow. Some serious amplification there. An Original Whammy AND a Bass Whammy too, respect to you sir!

I said I'd never sell it as it's the first bass I ever bought with my own money, but at the end of the day, I need cash, it's not getting used, and it's taking up space. Anyone who's played these basses knows they are cracking instruments for the price, and they are ideal for that backup bass that you don't have to worry about when you don't want to take your pride and joy It's the blue one above - Obviously as you can see I liked the bass so much when it was my main bass I bought the 5 string version of it too It's in pretty good condition, the only issue is the volume pot has come loose. It still works perfectly, but it just wobbles in it's socket. Couple of dings here and there, but nothing noticeable from more than 3 feet away Looking for [s]£120[/s] £SOLD. Can arrange postage at buyer's cost!

That is my dream rig! I'm halfway there already, got a chocolate thunder DB112 and an AG500SC - Just need the NT cab now!! Glad it's working out for you, and I hope to have the same luck

We're kicking the drummer out of our band because he simply cannot bring a fill back in on the 1. Fortunately we have a replacement! Just as an aside, my dad is a bass player, and our new drummer is my dad's drummer's son, so we're effectively the next generation of the same rhythm section, lol! Weird how things turn out!

In which case, the AF-9 has no such control. It's got sliders for Sensitivity (how easily the filter triggers) and peak (how much it sweeps) and then a few swtiches for LP,BP and HP filters, Hi or Low range, and Up or Down filter sweeps.
-
It's an envelope filter, rather than an auto-wah, so I couldn't really say how "slow" it goes.

Everyone knows Blue LEDs give you a better tone...Add a white one in there and it's tonal nirvana

I apologise, my recording setup is TERRIBLE!! This is the P+C used just by itself: Deeper Underground And into the Maxon AF-9: Sir Psycho Sexy Ok so I did these soundclips yonks ago, and they probably aren't as accurate as the sounds I've got now, but they give you a basic idea I've got a soundclip of using it with the Subdecay Prometheus and Boss OC-2 with a bit of Analog Delay, but I haven't been able to upload it for some reason, so PM your address and I'll send it over.

You won't get the "Light Years" sound with a Mutron or any standalone filter pedal. You will need some kind of fuzz (I would recommend the Crowther Prunes and Custard - Really squlechy synthy sound by itself) then run that into a filter, and you'll be somewhere close. Ps. Were you using the Maxon AF-9 on Band Pass or Hi Pass modes? Always stick to Low Pass with a bass, unless you are using a signal blender like the Barge VFB2/Xotic XBlender, otherwise you will lose low end. I never found the Maxon to suck the lows at all in Low Pass mode.
