My main bass for the last 5 years has been a 35" scale lakland. It is the most comfortable neck I've ever played and has a great B string. However about a year ago I bought a dingwall d roc 5 (blind having never played ff). The fanned frets really take no time (at least for me) to adjust to and I can happily switch back and forth. The 37" scale does make it feel a fair bit bigger but it has an unbeatable b string. The neo pickups probably help with this but even unplugged it rings so clear. Both basses are awesome just different. Dunno if that helps, but it's there 😂

What amazes me (and makes me sad as I've spent so much money 😂) is that any of us bass players could probably play a simple p like that our whole musical career and it would sound great and do exactly what's needed! GAS is a terrible thing!

I would say the necks are shallow front to back compared to say a fender jazz 5 string neck. The edges don't feel rolled to me but all the fret work is very good. They use 19mm spacing so are very comfy and give plenty of space for slap etc. They are a 35 inch scale though so bear that in mind -

I'd definitely be checking out the lakland 5502. Can be had for less than £1k, sounds great, plays great and very flexible due to the pickup layout -

Hi all, not an easy decision but I've decided to put my 5594 up for sale. It's an early 1998 model fitted with the bartolini electronics. As you expect from any lakland, it plays and sounds amazing! This one has a stunning birdseye fingerboard with a flame maple neck. There are a few small marks from use and the tuner posts have some tarnishing but everything functions as it should. Happy to take more pictures and send to anyone interested. Due to the value would much prefer a meet up/collection, however will post at buyers risk/cost. Thanks!

Hey everyone, decided to see if there's any interest in my droc standard 5. I believe it's a 2023 bass. The fanned frets are really not difficult at all to adjust to and it has a thunderous low end due to the extra scale. Plays great and has amazing balance on a strap with no neck dive and it doesn't feel anything like playing a thunderbird shaped bass in a good way! Apart from one chip about 10mm on the lower back corner, it's in amazing condition. Comes with the strap lock attachments and in a fitted ritter gig bag. Would prefer meet up/collection however do have boxes so postage available. Ideally looking for a straight sale, feel free to message any trades however it'll most likely be a no based in Gosport. Thanks! Ps. I'll try and get better pictures when possible!
