1. If I had one I'd happily trade you a Musicman Classic for it.......I think you'd be on the losing end of the deal tho Martin? Pity I can't interest you in a Fender!
2. Like many I got into Fretless thru Mr Karn. Still cant play any of his stuff tho. I'll stick to Talk Talk.....
3.
I can almost guarantee you that this Sterling will make you forget that Jazz, if it's that 75RI I see in your signature. The quality of these modern MM are well above MIA Fender IMHO.
It is but it's an 2002 75RI FSR......Pretty much CS quality. Agree on the modern MMs, especially the customs, had a 30th Anni Ray for a while and the build quality was sublime.
4. I wish this would hurry up and sell before I'm tempted to let the best Jazz I've ever owned go.
5. I use 40-100 Status Hotwire Flats. Nice low-medium tension, I have no probs switching basses with these on, tension wise.
6. You don't make this easy Rich. I've got £600 sat in the cupboard that's going towards a new MacBook.......must resist!!!!!
7.
Hi! The Classic Stingray is a re-make of the older earlier Rays, with the earlier and more modern features on one bass. All of them are 2EQ. The Stingray is either 2 or 3 EQ...and is cheaper, but the normal type you will see. 2 vs 3 EQ is a difficult one. I love mid control so I like the 3 band. They sound similar but the 3EQ I THINK has more hi mids when set flat. Side by side you'd be pushed to hear much difference. These £1000+ ish 2EQ models are the same, but limited colours and no proper case, (I personally don't dig black that much, and red or blue aren't my favourite colours for basses).
The 2 vs 3 eq is a personal taste thing. Personally I prefer the 2 on the fretless Ray and 3 on the fretted.
8. Some of us are lucky enough to own one....mines of the Candy apple Red variety.
9. Good price for a cracking bass. Every so often I decide to sell my AVRI but then I take it to a rehearsal (it's too precious to use at the toilets I generally play - Squier territory!) and realise I'll not find another Jazz that sounds this good.
10. Have one of these myself in candy apple red. Absolutely superb Jazz basses.
11. This is a heavily modded Squier precision. It started life as a Squier Precision Afinity but the following mods have been made: BBOT bridge changed for high mass (BBOT will be included should you wish) Original neck changed for a maple board Mighty Mite with vintage tint. 70s Fender logo. Wilkinson tuners added Pots and wiring gubbins changed to good quality stuff (orange drop cap, CTS etc) Pickups upgraded to Wizard Thumpers Pick guard changed from horrible white one ply to Bass Doc 3 ply torty. Trade wise, looking for a nice Jazz for cash.....looking at a trade value of £200. This really is a nice Precision, a few dings but nothing major or through the paint and certainly looks the part......it's just that I have to admit that the Precision sound just doesn't work for me. I'll post some pics as soon as I can get to the laptop.
12. I've always fancied one of these. Closest I got was a 30th Anni that's now with the Hackenbacker. Never seem to have the cash when one comes up especially at this great price. Have a bump - shouldn't be around long, these are great MMs
13. Bought a Barefaced cab off Pete, cab in great condition and my back is already thanking him. Great guy to deal with and very knowledgeable about all things bass related.
14. Hi P, no, afraid it's standard 19mm with 34" and non bendwell.
15. The wife decided it was time to downsize the family runabout from the old Passat Estate to a nice new A3. Great idea........but not for me, my trusty MB 115HR fits but not without some buggering around. so looking for something smaller and equally light. Something from Aguilar, MarkBass, Barefaced, etc would do nicely so long as the dimensions are smaller than the 115HR. No pics at the mo, but email me and I'll send some through. It's in VGC with no tears in the carpet or dinks on the guard. It's been pretty babied and gigged infrequently in the 3 years that I've had it. I'd put a trade value of about £300 on it and would put cash in if needed.
16. I could have sold it a few times over FM but only interested in trade.....no discounts on new ones as we both know ;-)
17. One last crack at this before I look at other options.
18. There's a comolded nut behind the zero fret....
19. Thanks for the advice guys, don't think I'll go for the nut surgery (ooh eer missus) on this bass though - doesn't look like an easy job on the carbon neck without buggering some of the deep gloss finish. No worries OM - if you ever fancy a change let me know. Knew this was a long shot but hey you never know.
20. PM me a email Addy FB and I'll iPhone a couple....
21.
What is the colour?
Good old Black
