1. Nice brace Nick.....but you need a Jazz in that line up ;-)
2. I don't like it when they are 'extreme' but the subtle SC design on my Status Streamline seems to suit it ok.
3. That's superb.....unfortunately I think I'd have to let the FSR 75RI and the Status go to finance this :-o
4. I've got a 2002 clone of your Ray......I paid £700 last year for mine and don't regret a penny of it. The 2eq Ray is just made for Fretless - even a half wit like me can get a great sound out of it. Cant believe yours hasn't sold yet (shaking head smart icon)
5.
I have been playing stealers wheel stuck in the middle with a dep gig I have for a few months, never played it before but it's a good one that goes down well.
Yeah I've always liked that......never mastered playing and singing it at the same time though!
6. I briefly had a Sandberg KT, very good fit and finish but didn't sound anything like a Ray. Much darker sound out of the Humbuckers - less in your face. Very nice bass though - just didn't do it for me.
7. Mine Streamline is an early one (number 6 I think), don't know if the profile has changed at all? Now you mention it though it is very slightly flatter up to about the 5th but after that I don't notice a difference - always found it a very easy, fast neck.
8. Daft question but did you remove any shims that were stuck in the neck pocket. I've done a couple of neck swaps and on both occasions had to change shimmage.
9.
Ergonomically, the Steinberger's strap pivot is hard to beat for comfort. Also thye Streamline has the Status neck profile -wide and flat - which is great if thats your thing. Personally, I find it very tiring to play.
Strange, never really noticed that, mine feels pretty much like my Precision and Ray neck wise.
10. Led Zep 1 eh? No surprises there then.....the first Rush album is 'Led Zep 1 the reprise'
11. +1 on the mighty mite neck - slotted straight in on my Affinity P bass with only a bit of shimmage needed. £95-100 should sort it new off the bay easily. If you need to go cheaper, Squier necks come up on here from time to time at anything from £35 upwards. One word of warning if you spot an Affinity neck check the tuner holes - on the two I've had they are smaller diameter posts so you'd need to drill them out if you were fitting standard tuners.
12. Black thing over the pup.....pretty much essential if you're a cack handed finger style player like me. Good call.
13. Well I can resist most things, apart from temptation.
14. Had a Rick briefly....hated it when I first got it, put it back up for trade on here. It went back to its owner within 2 weeks. Thing is I quite liked it when it went back and I've missed it ever since. Now, do I need a Jazz.........hmmmmm
15. Cracking bass SV - they are a bit special these AV 75RIs, especially in non standard colours.
16. Sorry to cut in......very easy profile Sean, reminds me of a modern precision (40mm nut) slim front to back. €1200 is a good price on this - over £1500 new now and dont come up often. Out of my basses it is probably the last I would sell. Berrmp
17. Think I 'peaked' about 20 years ago.....
18. I keep coming back to this but the only bass I have that fits your weight requirements is my trusty old Status and I'd miss it too much....The PF's a lovely bass tho, surely shouldn't hang around too long.
19. I'd have thought the value of the LE would be up there with something like a 30th anniversary Ray. Depending on the day anywhere between about £1000 at the low end but maybe as high as £1300 if an MM collector takes a shine to it. I've had a standard Sterling in the past. playability (neck wise) just as fast as a Jazz. Sound wise - much closer to a Ray......i.e. nothing like a Jazz. Harder edged and less versatile sound palate wise than a Jazz but sits in a mix well and a great sound if you like it. Personally I do but I wouldn't have one as my only bass. Just my 2p
20. Ha........you're a Jazz man, I remember. The 1.75" is a bit of a stretch.
21. That's just cruel to the poor bass.......the FSR Jazz as got to be my favourite (affordable to me) Jazz.
22. Shame this, I was in the market for an AWESOME Jazz and this is what comes back from my google search......'gutted'
23. Fender/Squier afinity/Mighty Mite Bitsa: Pretty much my goto bass at the moment, looks like a 70's BBM Fender, sounds like a Precision. Positives; plenty of dings and cheap as chips so I'm not worried about any venue. Negatives; .....wish it was a real early 70's BBM Fender Precision. Fender US 75RI Fender Special Run 2002: Such a nice bass that only stays in the box as much as it does because it's too nice to use at most of the places I play. Positives; The best sounding Jazz I've ever owned, the lovely flame maple neck, it oozes quality. Negatives; Not sure red is 'my' colour. Status Streamline: There could be a nuclear apocalypse but this bass would still be in tune after the fallout settled. Positives; A fantastically constructed bass with sounds to match, so light (but still feels quality made) that you can play it all night without feeling it. Negatives: The looks mean it doesn't always get taken seriously (as I found out at an audition last year) by people not in the know! Musicman Stingray Fretless: The 2 band Stingray is all the fretless I will ever need. Positives; figured birdseye maple neck, hair-bredth action and growly sound pallet. Negatives; Not the best fretless to try and repoduce DB basslines with.
24.
I know Mart thats why its a tentative feeler at the moment, hows that P bass I sold you?
Hey going well Pete, looks a bit different now though.....a typical BBM 70s Fender look.
