1. Don't do it Pete........times change, you'll want a 4 again one day and end up doing the Rimmer knuckle biting thing!
2. Will keep an eye out in the Sheffuld/Rotherham area, Good luck with getting it back
3. do yourself a favour and get a decent 75RI
4. I've got my Affinity P bass all modded up now. Bridge was swapped out for a high mass type by the previous owner - its stable and works well compared to the BBOT so I've left it alone. I was going to change the pups but decided to get the axesrus CTS kit first - it really improved the sound so much that I haven't needed to swap out the pups. I hated the original small tuners so I swapped the whole neck out for a mighty mite and put on some 70 s wilkinson tuners - looks the part and is much more stable tuning wise. The pick guard was swapped out for a BassDoc one, I couldn't send the original first time so had to take a best guess, it was fairly close but needed a bit of work. I've now sent Howard the original and ordered another but in 3 ply Tort which will be a much better fit. This bass has ended up as my main gigging bass despite having a 'proper' Fender in the house....not having to worry about dinging it frees you up on stage!
5.
You're doing the right thing Shaker. I've played Fenders and their clones for the past 30 years. It was always a dream of mine to own a Ricky. The sale of my house last year made my dream a reality. I tried so hard to get on with it, great sound and absolutely gorgeous to look at but just too different in the way it sat and played. Eventually it had to go and the SR5 that sits in it's place is so much more me
You and me both......I think we both found out that Fender shapes work better ;-)
6. Hmmmmm....only thing I have to trade is a Jazz lol. But it is red, and a US special run 75RI with the G&G case and all the candy and a matching headstock......
7. Nick this is very tempting....pity you're the other end of the country and already have a Jazz.
8. Cheers J. How do you find the FSR 75RI compared to your 74?
9.
Here's my latest toy, bought from Stealth on Basschat. It's a 2003 Fretless with the most wonderful figuring on the neck and a superb bass to play too
Nice one Nick. Must have made a batch of these figured fretless necks around 2002/3 - looks just like mine.
10. Big +1 from a fellow CAR FSR 75RI owner.....they are rather special aren't they? As a matter of interest how do the 3 Jazzes compare?
11.
Thanks for the offer mate but this will be orange.
And for that alone Wayne you should be prevented from buying it

Jazz

Useless to me because it has one too many strings, but that Bacchus is stunning...
13.
Fender's own '75 RI pickups from the US version are available as '75 Vintage'. They are excellent pickups IMO, easiest way to get them is via ebay from the States at about £80 a set all in. Nothing like the rubbish so-called 'US' pickups in my MIJ 75 by the way. Comparing them directly to a pair of Model Js they are significantly brighter and more 'open' sounding, a lot of grind with a good even bottom end that isn't as overwhelming in the lower mids - not quite so 'hot-rod' (I wouldn't describe the Model Js as 'classic jazz' however you wire them, they are a lot beefier without the upper end snap).
Ditto, my 2002 FSR US made 75RI has these pups and they are absolutely superb. If these are only £80 they are a rare bargain.
14. That's one lovely Jazz.......think I'd have to sell a few basses to afford it tho so I'll have to stick with the copy.
15. That's a great price for a transition bridge BBM Ray......wish I had some spare mullah for a twin for my fretless Ray
16. Dont do it B, I haven't found an active Jazz that offers the subtlety of sounds that one of these has. You'll regret it......
17. Loved this first time around.....unfortunately still skint.
18. Picked up my Stingray 30th before XMas, even paid up a good month before he could pick it up....that's above and beyond.
19.
Hi All .Just bought the amazing 2002 USA P Bass in Sunburst, really thought I wanted a P Bass but got to get a Jazz back.so would like to trade for a Fender Road worn Jazz any colour or 62 reissueJazz ,this bass is mint not a scratch, for a 2002 that is rare, comes with a new SKB Fender case currently strung with Status half wounds, any more details please PM me
Told yer you wally! Just joking....all the best in re-acquiring a RW Jazz
20. Having to work so hard not making a trade offer against this type bump.
21. From a fellow 2 band Ray fretless user have a bump..........one of the best sounds out there.
22. Not a bad price that g I thought you might have been looking at £900. Mine wasn't a bad bass, I agree with you the pickguard looks cheap - I spent a few extra £ and put a standard metal plate and PG on mine. For info I traded mine in against a Stingray in 1990, I got £380 IIRC.
23. [sup]I had one of these, same colour and pickguard config. Was a 1984 IIRC. Looks kosher to me.[/sup]
